About this property

Romantic retreat in the hop fields of Kent, with great sightseeing

This stunning little house is the perfect get-away-from-it all retreat for two people. It is set in the grounds of the owners' 15th century house, with which it shares a drive, yet it is not overlooked and feels very private.

The large, light filled, open plan living/kitchen/dining area has floor to ceiling bi-fold doors opening out onto its own garden . Sit outside - choose from the table and chairs or the big double sun lounger - and listen to the birdsong. By night you can enjoy a starry sky by the light of the fire pit, which also has a grill for BBQs - or marshmallow toasting!

The decor inside Little Bugglesden is 'country cool' - luxuriously comfortable and with nods to the area's heritage as 'The Garden of England', including vintage apple crates used as kitchen shelves and a photo of workers in a local hop field in the 1940s. In fact, the main house next door was, until recently, the farmhouse for the surrounding hop farm which still operates today.

The cottage offers many of the luxuries of a good hotel, alongside the freedom and privacy of a holiday let.

There's a bedroom with king sized bed and garden views and a Moroccan style shower room. The bed linen is 600 thread count finest Egyptian cotton, the duvets and pillows goose down, there's underfloor heating and fluffy rugs, a woodburner for chilly nights, soft bathrobes and slippers, board games, books and DVDs, a digital radio and WiFi and all the kitchen equipment you could want - whether you want to cook up a feast or simply prepare snacks to sustain you in between visiting the many excellent restaurants in the area.

We provide handmade chocolate and a bottle of apple juice to kick off your stay. You will find olive oil, salt, pepper, dried herbs, tea, coffee and sugar. There's washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, cloths and cleaning products and, in the bathroom, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. We also supply a big basket of logs and kindling for the woodburner (more available to buy onsite if you need more for this - or for the outdoor fire pit if wanted). End of stay cleaning is included.

John is a rehabilitation specialist and also teaches Nordic Walking and Pilates. So let us know when you are booking if you are interested in knowing more. We can offer private 'Learn to Nordic Walk' stays - a lovely safe way to exercise, to discover the local countryside and learn a skill that you can use when you return home - visit www.nordicwalkingkent.co.uk if you'd like to read about this increasingly popular activity. Likewise, if you have a niggling problem with your back, knee, shoulder...whatever!...speak to us about having private rehabilitation or remedial massage in the studio, which is right next to the holiday let. One-to-one or two-to-one Pilates can also be taught here.

Alternatively, book a whole weekend or week long 'overhaul', with several hours of mixed exercise and advice on diet and lifestyle. It's all possible...Let us know what you want and we can tailor something to fit.

A lovely, comfortable get away, tastefully decorated with everything you need.
We had a wonderful 3 night stay in this lovely property. The private garden was just the best way to spend the afternoon after touring the beautiful Kent countryside. The accomodation is clean, comfortable and classy. We did have some trouble finding the farm, the sat Nav didn't recognise the address but some locals and perseverance won the day.

Quiet spacious retreat
Well appointed retreat in the Kentish countryside. Read a book and enjoy the sun or star-gaze at night in the large private garden. Would go back and certainly would recommend to others.

Echte aanrader! Zouden

Wonderful birthday break!
We had a wonderful break in Little Bugglesdon. It was so clean and so well looked after. We were down visiting Chapel Down for a birthday and we couldn't recommend it enough for a lovely relaxed break.

Bugglesden
It was adequately described as a base for the surrounding area. Which is very good. The property could do with just a few more homely touches to bring it up a bit. We also found that just the 2 large mugs, meant a lot mug washing!

Wonderful short stay
Really enjoyed the stay. Very comfortable with all we needed. Lovely owners . Great location for cycling as well as vineyards and attractive village. Very small point .There was reference to a nespresso machine by other guests but we didn’t see it at the property . But apple juice and chocolate provided was very delicious.

Couldn't wish for better accommodation in SE England, let alone Kent!!
My wife and I, both active 70 year olds, loved this place.and might well break a rule of a lifetime to go back to somewhere for a second time! So convenient for many NT properties whilst being only 12 miles from the coast. Kent CC are to be congratulated for the signing and state of the many footpaths in the area It was warm, well appointed and whilst you had the comfort of knowing Emma and John , the owners, were next door - you wouldn't know it!

Cosy and Comfortable Cottage in Tenterden
We had 6 nights in a cosy and comfortable cottage in Tenterden, Kent All amenities were up to date and modern. Our host John was most attentive to our occasional needs and was always very friendly and obliging. From this central spot in Kent we were within easy driving reach of Canterbury, Dover, Hastings, Brighton and Margate. Tenterden, the town, was a real surprise with available banks and supermarkets and plenty of pubs and coffee shops to choose from. Given the chance we would stay here again.

Picture Perfect English Countryside Retreat
Exceeds all expectations. Emma and John's attention to detail in the finishes are spot on. Loved opening the piano-hinge glass doors at the back of the home to enjoy the large garden and mature trees. Very private....you won't be disappointed....we explored Kent and ate at wonderful restaurants as well as having all I needed to make a romantic dinner at home!

The Best!
This property exceeds expectations in every way. It is bright, new, spacious and exquisitely designed. It is close to every amenity in Tenterden and surrounding villages, but very private as well. The cottage is beautifully appointed with lovely bed linens and luxurious robes and slippers. The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with a big loaf of crusty bread, organic butter, milk and eggs, plus a bottle of wine. Emma was also aware of a local woman who does small scale catering. After a whole day of traveling, having the option to eat a restaurant quality meal in our apartment was a godsend. The quality was excellent, its price was reasonable, and the only effort required of us was to heat the oven. That is how you start a vacation! Emma has anticipated every need. This lovely cottage is a benchmark for holiday rentals.

We moved to Kent from London when our children were very young, 17 years ago. We love it here - it's a beautiful part of the world with some stunning countryside and historic villages, and even the beach within easy reach. We can still easily get into London - it's just an hour away by train - so we feel like we have the best of both worlds.

Why they chose this property

We live in the 15th century farmhouse next door. We moved here seven years ago and fell in love with the location, with fields of hops all around and easy walks from the doorstep. We really enjoy sharing it with guests.

Peace, quiet and escape!
