Field House Cottage is the ideal base for a holiday or short stay in the stunning Peak District National Park. With a rural and scenic location at The Roaches, the cottage is the perfect place to stay for walkers, climbers, nature lovers and anyone who enjoys spending time in the great outdoors.
Originally dating back to 1650, Field House Cottage has been refurbished to provide everything you need to relax and enjoy your break. There is a fully fitted kitchen with dining area downstairs as well as a separate comfortable living room. Upstairs there is a bathroom with combined bath / shower and two bedrooms, each sleeping two people - one bedroom has a flexible zip and link super king or twin bed and the other bedroom has two single beds. There is also a double sofa bed in the downstairs living room. A cot can be provided if needed too.
Outside the cottage there are patios to the front and back with tables and chairs. And a bbq, freezer and storage for bikes etc are available.
The cottage is attached to our own home but with separate entrances. There is a shared utility room with washing machine and dryer. And guests are welcome to use our large garden. Please note that children should be supervised at all times in the garden as there is open water.
We have a dog, cats, chickens and ducks. With animals on-site, we're unable to accept pets at Field House Cottage.
Please note that the cottage is situated in a secluded spot half mile off the public road down an unmade single farm track with passing places (unsuitable for low slung vehicles). After wet or wintry weather it can be a bit of a bumpy ride so care should be taken driving down it. There is plenty of off-road parking next to the cottage.
Field House Cottage is conveniently located close to the bustling market town of Leek in Staffordshire (4 miles away) and Buxton, the Derbyshire spa town (10 miles away). Many attractions such as Chatsworth, Alton Towers and World of Wedgwood are close by as well as the whole of the Peak District National Park on the doorstep.
The Roaches, right next to the cottage, is a dramatic rocky ridge which offers great climbing, walking and fell-running routes. There is a huge range of outdoor activities available across the Peak District including abseiling, caving, climbing, cycling, hiking, horse riding and running. Tittesworth Water and Rudyard Lake are also close to the cottage for watersports, fishing and birdwatching.
There is a tea room nearby and pub in the village plus lots of lovely country pubs and restaurants just a short drive away.
