About this property

Charming Stone Villa with private pool surrounded by a luxuriant garden

Tipical stone farmhouse with private pool surrounded by a wonderful garden rich of succulent plants and olive and almond trees. The villa, built in 1700 AD, is independent, furnished with antiques and located in a typical rural village on the hill of Scopello. The area is cool even in summer and the house has perimeter stone walls one meter wide so you never feel hot. The villa is very close to the natural reserve of "Zingaro" where you enjoy the contact with nature meeting in the wild rabbits, porcupines, owls, hawks, foxes, sheep and cows. You'll be able to swim into one of the most striking place of sicily: the “tonnara” of scopello with its marvelous stacks and in the evening taste the very good local seafood and meat with the best wines of sicily. Otherwise you will visit the most important archaeological sites in the sicily: segesta, selinunte, mothia or take a trip to palermo, monreale, trapani, erice, marsala and the egadi isles (favignana, levanso and marettimo). At the end you can remain at home and enjoy the greatest quiet, walking among almond trees and succulent plants or swinging under a secular olive tree.

Wonderful
A wonderful oasis high up above Scopello - beautiful garden, old cottage and swimming pool. But a highlight are the kind and helpful hosts who are discretely around at weekends to offer any advice or hospitality. There is so much to see and do but local beaches and of course the villa itself if you simply want to relax. A lovely and memorable holiday

A perfect base to explore north-west Sicily
We stayed 2 weeks here and it was an excellent base for exploring. The medieval village of Scopello is only 10 minutes away and we spent many evenings there trying the different restaurants! The villa itself is smallish, but perfect for the two of us. There is no air-conditioning, but as the villa has thick stone walls, and the bedrooms are downstairs, they remained cool. The garden was perfect for relaxing in, with plenty of shady corners, and the pool was outstanding. Rosalba and Fabio, the owners, live next door, but are only there at the weekends. They were very welcoming but do not intrude at all - the perfect hosts!

A little break in paradise
We had great vacations to the house of Rosalba and Fabio. The house is really nice with a beautiful garden and the swimming pool. Everything was super clean with all what we needed to enjoy our stay. The area of Scopello is just wonderful, with nice beaches, coves and just at the entrance of the beautiful Zingaro reserve. A big thanks to the hosts. They welcome us and give us plenty of nice tips to visit the area and to find the best restaurants around. We will come back for sure in this little piece of paradise.

Beautiful property, we would love to come back.
This was a lovely old stone property with a beautiful large garden and swimming pool. Rosalba and family were perfect hosts and commication was great prior to and during our stay. The property was clean and well equipped and had everything we needed. It was lovely to be in the mountains but with the coast just a 15 minute drive away and it made a great base to explore the area from including Scopello, Castellammare del Golfo, Zingaro nature reserve and Segesta. The property offered everything we could want, sun, shade, pool and it was great to have the cooler bedrooms downstairs. We had a brilliant stay here and have left with wonderful memories.

Wonderful, just wonderful!!
I have stayed in a wide range of HomeAway places in many locations - I have to say this is at or near the best in my experience and for the cost to value ration - likely very hard to top!! Awesome garden in a most scenic location and just a beautiful home and surrounding structures. If Sicily did not hold so much interest - I could have spent our 5 days right there at the rental. And to top it off - Rosalba and Fabio and their two lovely daughters were the most hospitable and generous of hosts!! If I ever come back to Sicily - I would love to return here!!

A magical place
We have just returned from 10 idyllic days staying at Fabio and Rosalba’s gorgeous property with our 2 year old. This is a magical place, a traditional stone house that provides a retreat from the hot summer sun with a large pool for cooling off, and totally surrounded by a stunning garden with shady paths our toddler loved to explore - and even a tiny playground he spent every evening in! The villa was sparkling clean, with a small and simple but well equipped kitchen, and two cool bedrooms on the lower floors which we found perfectly comfortable - all three of us slept solidly every night after days spent idling by the pool, or dipping into the crystal clear sea nearby and visiting the local sites. Scopello is a short drive down the hill, and we spent our evenings trying the different restaurants and enjoying a granita in the piazza - or else at home using the outdoor kitchen BBQ, or cooking a pasta to enjoy out on the garden terrace. Fabio and Rosalba were often in their house next door as it was August and were the perfect hosts - so kind and helpful but totally unobtrusive, we had all the privacy we needed. They happily recommended sandy beaches for our toddler, the best local restaurants, and they even had a little present waiting to welcome our son. We enjoyed sharing a glass or two of local limoncello together! Their place is so special precisely because it is a home, with lots of love in every touch that made our holiday truly memorable. Grazie Mille!

Frustrating
Our experience was mixed. Ultimately, we decided to check out only 3 nights into our 8 night scheduled stay. The beds are extremely firm, so much so that we could hardly sleep, and if we did - woke up sore. The sofa bed was unfortunately unable to open so swapping beds was not an option. Frustratingly the hosts have accused us of breaking the sofa bed after bringing up our grievances with them. The shower did not have soap, the kitchen did not have enough dinnerware for four guests, and is not particularly well equipped for guests who wanted to cook, or a group of four people. The gardens are beautiful and the pool very relaxing. Unfortunately, though, the positives do not outweigh the negatives for this rental. We would strongly recommend the hosts replace their mattresses, supply basic soaps, re-stock their kitchen supplies, repair their sofa bed, and improve on how they communicate directions to future guests.

Inoubliable !

Rural hideaway
A traditional stone property set in an abundant and extensive cacti and succulents garden right on the edge of the National park. We’d loved this property, a windy uphill drive into the hills from the coastline near Scopello. The thick walls and small windows keep the large double bedrooms cool without the need for aircon. A welcome change. The outdoor space is wonderful with various seating areas to eat and relax, cook and wander. Watch out for mossies - not numerous, but persistent. We loved using the pool overlooking the hillsides and surrounded by olive trees. The owners were friendly and helpful and Gusieppe the gardener pops round to look after the pool and greeted us on arrival with a huge smile. We were grateful to have the laundry room and the local deli was fabulous! About a ten minute downhill drive. The supermarket next door was never open while we were there. Perhaps out of season? In addition to the paid for beach and parking at Scopello we found a small, quiet, pebbly beach for snorkelling just a bit further up the road reached by a narrow metal gate and steep walk. Loads of fish to see and the occasional jelly fish. Great fun!

Lovely traditional villa above Scopello
We were met by Fabio and Rosalba when we arrived, they explained everything we needed to know and how to use stuff. They live next door at weekends so were very handy. The villa is in a very rural location, so a car was a must. Nights were so, so quiet and the setting was fabulous. Facilities were suitable for the 2 of us, more than 4 would be a push. We would go back again, Sicily is a lovely place.

Fabulous stay in the most charming house with pool & excellent hosts
We just spent the most amazing 10 days in this gorgeous property. Rosalba and Fabio are such amazing hosts and ensured we had the most memorable holiday. We thoroughly relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful gardens with plentiful places to relax and enjoy the surroundings - reading, swimming and taking in the views. A fabulous stay if you want to get away from it all with the ability to visit local places of history and the amazing beaches and fabulous Italian food. Thank you so much!

Blissful mountain retreat
Thank you, Fabio and Rosalba, for sharing your beautiful home in Visicari with us. We enjoyed the shady garden and terrace, the pool with mountain views and the rocky coves with lear water for daily sea swims. We had lovely barbecues at home and seafood and pasta out in Scopello and Castellamare. It was so mice at home that we barely ventured out, but would love to return to explore more of this beautiful and unspoilt part of Si ily. We enjoyed very much meeting you and Thanks again for a wonderful holiday. Tara and Andrew’

Very comfortable house with a lovely garden, pool, and view
The house is beautifully located, very clean, well-equipped, and the garden behind the house qualifies as a botanical one - it is gorgeous! The landlord, Fabio, is very friendly and helpful. The house is a great starting point for visits to the archeological sites of Selinunt, Seleste, Mozia and Solunto, and for great walks or hikes in the National Park of Lo Zingaro. We will definitely come again! Elke and Stefan from Germany

Wonderful family house close to the beach
We stayed one week in this fantastic place and we highly recommend it. Our first impressions on arrival was that Fabio and his family were warm, friendly and very welcoming. In addition, we were not disappointed as the house was much nicer than the pictures on the website. This was even more obvious in the morning as we were enchanted with beautiful views, lovely gardens and a well-kept refreshing swimming pool. It was also ideally located because it was a short drive to the supermarket, the historic town of Scopello with all its amenities (restaurants, cafe, gelateria etc) and several beaches. Normally I would not think about visiting the same place twice but it was just what a family like us with small children needed :)... a home away from home.

Truly magical and bellissimo!
High-up on the hillside beside an ancient, peaceful village - we found Rosalba's beautiful, traditional cottage. Nestled amongst the most fantastic, serene garden full of native flora and fauna - much to our 7yr olds delight! With plenty of seating areas from which to contemplate and admire the view and not forgetting the lovely outdoor dining/BBQ area & heated outdoor shower, an exotic luxury. From the rooftop terrace and pool we were surrounded by amazing views across the valleys and coastline and a pleasant breeze cooled the air and accommodation and filled it with the scent of jasmine, thyme and eucalyptus. Inside the cottage was a dream, immaculate, tastefully furnished with an attention to detail and complete with everything you could need to make your stay comfortable. There was ample room to relax in and make yourselves feel at home, lovely thick stone walls and amazing shutters provided a pleasant ambient temperature and guaranteed a good nights sleep! Our hosts were amazing. Charming, helpful and most accommodating. They were there for you when you needed them and most discrete, when you didn't. A welcome hamper (including fuel for the BBQ!) was all greatly appreciated. The location of this cottage is fantastic, plenty of places to explore including gorgeous unspoilt beaches, fresh local produce in abundance-(great couple of shops just down the hill) and nice places to eat. Scopello old town was charming. If you're willing to drive, this cottage is perfect for a quiet, relaxing family holiday. We are counting the days until we can return already! Absolutely Charming, A Sicilian Paradise
This was our second HomeAway although we have used a similar company before for many years. Rosalba and her family we so kind and sincere. We have new friends now in Sicily and plan on coming back. We had ten days here and the location was perfect! It was close to the beach and the grocery store and not far from great places like Segesta and Erice. We have two children ages 7 and 8 and they enjoyed the pool, the gardens, the solarium, and the play area. We grilled every night and shared a dinner with our amazing new friends. I would highly recommend this authentic, organic, amazing home to anyone. Be sure to ask them where their favorite beach is and the history of the ancient caves just steps from their home!!

Unbedingt bald wieder!
