What an adventure
Worth the experience. Beautiful views and nice people. Not quite worth the money and I wish there was more communication with the owner but overall we had a good time.

Beautiful and quiet setting
We went to McCarthy for a half marathon to benefit the Wrangell Mountain Center. It was so nice to have a cabin with electricity and running hot water. Beware that only Verizon has service out there, so connect with Dan ahead of time if you don’t. One of us did, so we had no issues.

Perfect oasis in McCarthy
a cabin in the wilderness yet close to "town". Comfy bed, large and well equipped bath, well stocked kitchen. Plenty of breakfast choices. Dan shuttled us to where ever we needed to go. Unless you have Verizon you are off the grid but a little coordination made everything smooth as can be. Highly recommend.

Beautiful mountain view
Thank you Dan for the beautiful stay. We loved the glacier walk and the airplane tour. You were always there to pick up us and to give advice and help. The view of the mountains from your cabin is just incredible. What a quiet and secluded experience.

McCarthy / Kennicott Stay
Property was great with an absolutely wonderful view. Do need to be aware that you need to contact Dan for shuttle service (which he provides with rental). Dan was also a great source of information about the area, the history and the local culture.

Daniel was great picked us up at the bridge and provided transportation to all activities. The cabin was great had running water, shower, toilet and a kitchenette. No WiFi or cable TV so completely unplugged. The mountains were spectacular however lots of misquotes but we were prepared. Loved it there.

Awesome view
Very remote private cabin with best view of surrounding mountains. Running water inside cabin. Dan was great to give us rides whenever we needed one. He had snacks and breakfast foods there for us. Great experience.

Cozy Cabin with Spectacular Views
This cabin exceeded our wildest expectations. The views are even better than the pictures and the cabin has amenities far above anywhere else in the area. Daniel went above and beyond for us throughout our stay. Truly the best place to stay in McCarthy/Kennicott!

Off the grid in McCarthy
We enjoyed our stay very much. The front porch is the shining gem. I could look out at the mountains all day. We enjoyed watching the small prop single engine airplanes take off from the airport and fly into the mountains. Transportation was easy. Give Dan a call and the next time he passes by, you are on your way. Bed was comfortable and the water in the shower was hot. A great experience.

Spectacular Views!
The view from this cabin are wonderful. The cabin was a great base for us to explore McCarthy and Kennicott. Daniel has everything you need including some breakfast items. He was very gracious and gave us rides on the shuttle to town, the cabin and Kennicott. We had a visit from a black bear the last evening we were there. Just sniffing around then went about his business. Tip: No coffee maker but there is some tea and instant coffee packets. If you love your coffee you might want to bring some instant that you like with you.

Perfect place with an awesome view
Cabin was perfect for our stay!! So comfy and it was great to have breakfast options! Daniel was very accommodating and picked us up and gave us a ride into “town” (macarthy) and back to the bridge. The view was amazing and neat to be able to see Kennicot from a distance. We even got a Aurora show! will definitely stay here again!

This quant little cabin is perfect for 2. Tucked away in the Wrangell St Elias national park this has enough modern touches to be a welcome change from spending the day in the rugged wilderness around you.

McCarthy paradise
Loved this place! Fantastic unobstructed views of the Wrangalls, including Mt Blackburn and the Kennecott Glacier. New, clean, comfortable and off the grid. Solar power and clean filtered water right off a mountain stream. Dan, the host is a local full of local history and local legend, and he’s willing to share. He also drives the shuttle, which you, as his guest can ride for free. This is a good thing because your 1.5 miles from McCarthy (easy walking) and 4 miles from the Kennecott Mine and Root Glacier trail. We will definitely be back!

Simply the best!
The cabin is exactly how it is described and how the pictures show. Well equiped kitchen, confortable bed, complimentary items for breakfast and the main thing: private bathroom INSIDE the cabin. When you are trying to book in Kennicott you will realize how difficult this is. Even the most expensive places offer outside shower/toilet and/or shared one. Dan’s cabin is the best place you will get there! And the icing on the cake is the veranda: direct views to Root Glacier sitting on the deck. Amazing place! The only inconvenience is how to move around because you can not drive your car there (everyone has to leave private cars at footbridge several miles away). This is excellently solved by Dan who offers you transfer to the cabin. He is so funny!! He will tell you stories about the place and his 40 years living there in summer time. He will recommend you what to do and will show you the best places to visit. My suggestion: root glacier trail (bring your crampons and walk on the glacier on your own. Not dangerous at all. Awsome!) and the guided visit to the Mine (to see how hard they lived there). Thanks so much Dan for your kindness and laughs! All the best to you. Warm regards

Cozy cabin with a beautiful view
My sister and I flew from Chitina to McCarthy and stayed at the cabin for two nights. Pat was extremely helpful and always made sure we had a ride to town. The cabin is very quaint and clean. We didn't have cell service (only Verizon works out there) or internet but many of the restaurants/shops in town have WiFi. Highly recommend staying here!
