Chelem Yucatan is a small fishing village located on the gulf of Mexico with white sand beaches. The Yucatan area is recognized as the 'safest' area in Mexico. The quiet villa of Chelem y located 30 minutes north of Yucatan capital's, Merida. It has a church, a market for groceries, parks, drug store, liquor store, local restaurants, or delicious traditional food. There is also a movie rental place with internet-acces computers.

Chelem has many retired living in the area due to the low cost of living and acess to very affordable medical and dental care. Medical tourism is a big business in the state. Fishing and water sports are also available.

The roads are safe to drive and Merida, capital of Yucatan, is less than 30 min away. Walmart, Sams, Malls and fast food can be found in Merida.
