A beautiful location with magnificent views. A very comfortable place with good facilities. Perhaps the bathroom could do with improvement, but for two of us it was fine and we had a most enjoyable week.
Right in the centre of St Davids, but with the feel of a remote rural property. We had such a lovely week. (Helped by beautiful weather, of course.) Not high-end luxury, but size, comfort, cleanliness and location were all perfect. We are very grateful to have been able to stay for a week and recharge our batteries. Please be aware that local restaurants are all VERY busy, so you need to book.
This place is all about location and comfort. True, some areas are a bit outdated (bathrooms) but at the same time it adds to the charm. Settees, beds all very comfy and kitchen very well equipped. Looking to return again this year.
This is our second time staying in Orchard Cottage and we would definitely stay again. The location is great, with lovely views of the cathedral and sea beyond. The owner was super helpful with all the practicalities following COVID-19.

Lovely quiet location very near Cathedral & shops
This house has amazing views in clear weather. It is very quiet (apart from the cathedral clock striking every hour). It is better equipped with tables than much holiday accommodation: lovely if you like to write or draw. The garden is beautifully spacious and secluded, with lots of grass to play on, although there isn’t a gate to keep dogs or children inside it. The cathedral is just a few minutes’ walk away, as is the little supermarket open till 9pm (4pm Sundays). It’s quite something to have all that, and yet also be able to have your car (s) parked right outside the door. We don’t think there could be a better location. When we arrived, all the beds were nicely made up and clean, but we did need to find and use the vacuum cleaner. We also needed to find the switch for the immersion heater to get hot water. (It’s in a cupboard in the twin-bedded upstairs bedroom.) I would not fancy trying to get washing dry inside, as the washing machine doesn’t have a fast spin and the house is somewhat damp, but there is a washing line under the carport as well as one in the orchard. There’s a variety of seating: even I was able to find a chair where I could sit comfortably, which is rare! The dining room, kitchen and sitting room are all separate rooms, and the upstairs bedrooms also have enough space for sitting or playing, so people aren’t all on top of each other if you are spending time in the house. Do take note of the bathroom arrangements in the property description, and perhaps bring dressing gowns and slippers for going outside to access the shower. A previous review mentioned lacking a hairdryer and radio: both these items were present when we stayed (July 2017)

Brilliant location in an old fashioned property.
The situation of the house is fabulous - the cathedral fills the window. It is just minutes away from the pubs, square, shops and supermarket. There are lovely lawns and an orchard for the dog to play in.
Inside it is quite old fashioned - there is no central heating but heaters are provided. The water works off an immersion heater. The beds and sitting room were lovely and comfortable. There were some dusty/cobwebby corners picked out by the spring sun though. The TV also has a a DVD player - but no DVD's so you could bring some down. A radio and hair dryer would have been welcome.
Nevertheless - highly recommended. I can still hear the bells of the cathedral as dusk fell...

Wonderful views and so close to everything!
The views from the cottage are outstanding, with the cathedral tower nearby in the foreground and Carn Llidi in the distance across fields and countryside. We enjoyed autumnal sunsets framing the tower as we lit the open fire in the lounge each evening. St David's has some lovely independent shops and a great deli selling local produce. We went to Cwtch restaurant on the Saturday evening which was excellent, and enjoyed some lovely walks around the vicinity of the cathedral and the coast. We found the cottage very comfortable and would highly recommend a stay here.

About the host
Hosted by Guy Treharn Howel Jones
Guy and his wife Fran have owned this cottage for over 40 years. It is their holiday home in the unique City of St Davids, Pembrokeshire. The property was built by Guy's father in about 1963.
Why they chose this property
The property is situated within the City of St Davids in a quiet location with a very large garden, away from the summer holiday noise of the centre. The views are lovely overlooking the Cathedral and across to Carn Llydi.
What makes this property unique
It is peaceful and quiet with amazing views. The only noise being the quite pleasant sound of children playing on the school playing fields. You can walk out to the untouched national Park or into the city of St Davids or the Cathedral in a few minutes. From May to the end of September there is an excellent shuttle bus service taking you to various locations along the coast. It is a 'hail and ride' service which runs through Nun Street which is accessible from a fooptath running past the cottage. It's about a 2 minute walk for an able bodied person.
