Peaceful location on a terrain of 150 acres. Les Essarts used to be a farm. There is an old farmers house and a former barn turned into a modern house in original style. The house is situated off the beaten track in the middle of woods, an orchard and meadows. The total property is 150 acres and offers total peace and tranquillity. A swimming pool is shared with the inhabitants of the old farmers house (if present), and has a nice waterside. The old farmhouse is also for rent (property reference FR18734). Several bicycles are available, as well as canoes /kayak, a table tennis table, a huge trampoline and a 65 meters tyrolean traverse (zip wire). Nearby sights include the famous cave of Lascaux and other prehistoric sites, medieval towns, chateaux and caves with amazing stalactites and stalagmites. The house lies in between Lascaux (Montignac) and Les Eyzies and the historic towns of Sarlat and Perigueux. The area offers canoeing, tennis, horse riding, golf courts and children's activities, adventure parks. Excellent restaurants, supermarkets and open air markets.

About the host
Hosted by Jan Jacob de Groot
We are Jan Jacob and Jacqueline de Groot, living in the Netherlands. We have three children: a boy of 20, a girl of 17 and a boy of 14 years old. We married at Les Essarts and we spend our holidays by maintaining and restoring this farm with its 300 year old farmhouse, new house, pool, garden and orchard and of course by enjoying the peaceful property and nature around us.
Why they chose this property
The property is family owned since 1968. The farm had been abandoned many years before and nature had taken over. We love to be here because it is a tranquil, remote place, but in the middle of touristic opportunities, sites and restaurants.
