Comfortable bungalow and garden in brilliant location
We know St David’s well but the bungalow and garden were beautiful and very comfortable with everything we needed plus really clear instructions. We enjoyed the conservatory and garden and it was a perfect base for many adventures and, as usual, we had a truly wonderful stay

The property was excellently located near the city centre. There were some drawbacks.
Your space is not sufficient for a worthwhile review, especially for the drawbacks which were inconvenience from a single bathroom for 4 people, no separate toilet, very small TV and lack of hanging space in one bedroom. Excellent garden and furniture.

Brilliant bungalow
We had a great time staying at Syllvan. It’s a cosy bungalow very well situated in st David’s with easy access to the high street, pubs etc. Beds were v comfy , nice garden which gets the sun. Only way to improve it would be a dishwasher! Overall a lovely place to stay for exploring Pembrokeshire

Great bungalow in excellent holiday location
The bungalow was very clean and well equipped in a quiet road very near the centre of St Davids. The local supermarket and other shops was just a short stroll away and the nearest beach quite easily walkable. The bungalow benefitted from a large garden which was great to sit in and fun for our dog to run around in. Overall I would highly recommend both St Davids - a classy place with cathedral, interesting eating out places and fun beaches nearby and Sylan as a place to stay in particular.

Bungalow was in a great position, Lovely large garden. Require a little update and could of been cleaner. Was informed that the shower was not working properly but the pressure in the bathroom was extremely poor. With a little update the bungalow could be great.

Nice bungalow
A nice bungalow, very conveniently located in the centre of St Davids and within easy driving distance of much of Pembrokeshire. The area is very quiet and relaxing and you can walk out to the coast straight from the city.

Perfect!
Perfect location, perfect layout! Stayed with my teenage daughter and the layout of the bungalow gave us both space to relax and enjoy a week off after the stress of her GCSE's. The conservatory and garden gave me a quiet space to sit and enjoy breakfast without disturbing her - she chose the king-size bed - which suited me fine as this gave me the peaceful back of the bungalow. All facilities within the bungalow are good - was able to get washing line dried before returning home which meant none of the usual mountain of washing on return home! Location perfect for both beach and town, and stay could not have been more perfect! Would recommend trying out the beach horse riding at Nolton which was for us the 'icing on the cake'. Would recommend to all - just what we needed.

Well-equipped and convenient
A lovely bungalow, well-equipped and well looked after. Beautiful garden. A real pleasure to stay here. Watch out for the 1000 piece jigsaw featuring hundreds of identical magnolia flowers though...!

Comfortable good sized bungalow
We had a lovely stay in the bungalow, which is well positioned near the centre of St David's but also very quiet. It was well equipped with all the cooking, washing and other items we needed.

Warm cosy cottage in the heart of St David’s. Home away from home.
The cottage is cosy and well equipped. It is located in the heart of St David’s, walking distance to all amenities, restaurants and Cathedral. I would highly recommend staying at this property.

What's not to like ?
This is a lovely cosy home, with everything you could possibly need, right in the middle of St Davids. The bathroom with shower has been recently refitted and the washing machine and tumble drier made it easy to deal with walking gear. Lots of nooks and crannies to store 'stuff' and a very pleasant sunroom for extra space. A very, very comprehensive selection of literature on the local area and much else. No time even to get started on the great jigsaws available.

The bungalow was as promised, just off the main St David's' street. It was clean and comfortable.
As a writer I was looking for a place away from the busy world of New Jersey to work on a new project and found it at Sylvan. I spent the mornings working and the afternoons walking, scrambling on the cliffs and having a great time in the most beautiful part of Wales, of Britain, and perhaps the world. I didn't want to leave.

Haven in heart of St Davids
We were looking for a comfortable and centrally located place to stay within St Davids and this property exceeded our expectations. It is very well appointed, clean and cosy with a lovely secluded garden. The owner provided excellent in-house information and hassle-free service. The bungalow's location is great and we could walk easily to the town, the shops, the Cathedral, the restaurants and cafes. St Davids is, of course, a central location for this beautiful part of Pembrokeshire, so we really enjoyed the coastal walks. I would not hesitate in recommending this property to others.

Fantastic location
St Davids is the perfect place to explore the wonderful Pembrokeshire coast. Sylvan is right in the centre of the city, in a quiet cul-de-sac. It has everything you need. Although we went out every day walking, we would have liked a bigger TV than the small one there for when we stayed in at night. Great places to eat, recommend The Bishops and Saffron if you want Indian.

Five stars
Agree with previous review. Just had our second visit. The bungalow is well placed for walking in both north and south Pembrokeshire with excellent bus services from St Davids.

Sylvan, St Davids, Pembrokeshire
We found Sylvan to be a clean, comfortable, cosy and well equipped bungalow in the heart of St Davids. The garden at the rear was private and attractive and because of the warm sunny weather we were able to sit out on the excellent garden furniture provided. The living room was a great room to relax in after being out in the fresh air and we also enjoyed eating meals in there. The kitchen had all the necessary equipment to cook all the meals we required quickly and adequately. The bathroom was all that we needed with a good shower, bath, washbasin and toilet. Within walking distance of Sylvan, there was the supermarket and shops. Also within easy reach, was the famous cathedral which hosts many musical events and other attractions. Transport would be necessary to travel to bays, coves and beaches as well as the famous cliff walks. There is an excellent bus service to all the attractive spots from St Davids, if you wish to leave the car at home.

About the host

Hosted by Richard Simper

Host profile image
I have been visiting St. David's and the surrounding area since the early 1970's and my parents originally bought the bungalow "Sylvan" in 1974 with a view to their retirement. Sylvan has been a holiday home since 2000 shared between myself and my three siblings. Over the years I have walked the entire Pembrokeshire coastal path (south to north) and intend to complete it again, but next time in the opposite direction. I have very good knowledge of the local area and can advise on things to do and places to go if required.

Why they chose this property

Originally bought by my parents for their retirement. Inherited in 1999 and now maintained as a holiday home.

What makes this property unique

Peace and quiet. Convenience of the local amenities and the outstanding coastal scenery.
