For centuries, Crane Beach has been sought by both locals and visitors for its natural beauty and serenity. Pink, powder soft sand graces your feet, a lush coconut grove sways in the tropical breeze and a golden Caribbean sun help to make this the ultimate paradise – then there is the swimming.
Accessible by a staircase or a glass-front beach elevator (the only one of its kind in the Eastern Caribbean) and protected by a natural coral reef, Crane Beach boasts one of the best swimming venues on the island of Barbados. Besides being safe and having a gentle descent from shallow to deep, it's also soft on your feet as there are no sea urchins, stones or coral underneath.
Crane Beach’s playful waves are perfect for boogie boarding and body surfing. The Crane is #1 for Barbados travel.

About the host
Hosted by Angus McBeath
I am a 68 year old Canadian man who lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. My wife and I had visited many tropical vacation spots over the years and when we saw the Crane and its spectacular beach, we were hooked on this property. I have now visited Barbados two dozen times and I hope to do so for many years to come. My wife and I have four adult children who love The Crane and so do all our friends who have visited us here.
I spend 6 weeks a year here and would stay longer but I do not have the time to do so as I'm still working full time. I never get bored as we have met so many nice people here that we have an active social life here to the degree that we want.

Why they chose this property
We elected to purchase a property at The Crane in Barbados for a number of reasons having learned over many years the things about tropical locations we did not like. Our reasons include: a beautiful well-maintained property in a country that respects the idea of private property and the rule of law. An English speaking country which celebrates and practices many of the same customs and traditions as back home. Very safe drinking water. Reliable health care close by our resort. We can eat and drink here anyplace on the Island without fear of becoming ill including from street vendors. The friendly nature of the people of Barbados. The incredible staff at the Crane resort. The spectacular scenery, the wonderful places to visit and explore, so many historical houses and buildings, Canadian and international banks, and great car rental places and taxis galore.
The property has every possible modern convenience in a setting that looks like an old-style Barbados gracious home. If something is not working in the suite, call reception and someone is around to fix it almost instantly. Want to entertain, the resort will cater for it if you want and provide glassware and dishes as per your request with exceptional (and included) concierge service.

What makes this property unique
My wife and I became hooked on the Crane property when we first visited it on January 10, 1999. We took one look over the cliffs at the beach and we fell head over heels in love with this paradise. We flew home to Edmonton later that day and I called my travel agent that night and asked her to make travel arrangements for us for spring break to come back to Barbados so we could stay at the Crane. We've never stopped coming back to this idyllic island.
The benefits of the Crane resort are many. It appeals to people who love peace and quiet and want to get away from their world at home. No music on the beach or the property unless you visit the 1887 Bar. The property is gated and guarded and the entire property is secured. The people of Barbados are very pleasant and have old-world manners. The Crane looks after your every need. They provide complementary daily housekeeping services for each suite. The resort also appeals to those who want to do more than read books. There is a weekly manager's cocktail party where all guests mingle and meet new people. There is a bar on site with live music and some dancing. You can play tennis on two floodlit courts, you can borrow a board and body surf the waves at the beach. Barbados Green Monkeys visit the resort several times a day and love the quiet of where my suite is located. They are fun to watch (see video). The hummingbirds are plentiful behind the building where I have my suite and they are beautiful and you can watch them all day they are so plentiful. You have all the dishes and pots and pans to cook in your suite anything you might want to make but when you tire of that you can visit any of the four restaurants on the property or visit close by the resort two restaurants that are quite casual. Shopping is very close by and the supermarket carries a huge amount of items.
