Crane Beach Resort Barbados
Loved our stay at Crane Beach Resort in Barbados...Julie was very helpful in making the entire process easy...the staff at the resort were awesome!

Dissapointing
I stayed for 3 weeks in Barbados at this property. It is really only a large hotel room with ensuite bathroom. Sadly it is interconnected by a locked door to another room. This was occupied during most of my stay by families with babies and children and was extremely noisy at night with babies crying. I also have to say the property was not as described in the ' Notes' section of the description on the site. It does not have a washer/dryer as stated. The very small. kitchen area had 2 knives 2 forks 2 plates and 2 cups. and 2 glasses, 2 pans and minibar sized fridge. I merely mention this in case anyo ne is hoping for a full kitchen as is usually the case with properties advertised on Homeaway. I ate out most of the time. This property is in a Time Share hotel Hotel which is rather isolated from the rest of the Island. so you would need a car or be prepared to take taxis everywhere. However the grounds of the resort are very very nice. several pools, and what would normally be a very lovely beach. This is covered with sargassum smelly seaweed which is brought in by the Atlantic tide. They do not have this problem on the Carribean side of the Island. This has been deposited on the beach since 2008 according to the people I spoke with. The Hotel offers really 7 day cheap packages from Canada and the US and is now being run by Hilton Grand Vacations. Barbados surprised me as the people on the Island are very poor the Island is in need of TLC especially the roads and the there are only a few beaches which have not been seriously eroded by the sea. I met some lovely Barbadian people when I was there, but sadly I do not think I would return in the very near future. The new prime minister has a long job ahead of her after the corruption of the last ten years. To be fair this has nothing to do with the property but I thought I would just provide a fair general picture of my stay over 3 weeks.

Beautiful resort with the friendliest staff
This was our second visit to the resort so we knew what to expect. Beautiful beach, adult only pool and also large pools that are family friendly. Several wonderful restaurants on the property but also 2 great spots just off the property and within walking distance: Cutters and Marco Polo. Booking through Julie was easy and safe. I would I definitely do it again. One thing to note, by booking thru a member, you are a guest of that member. As a member, Check out is 10am, as it’s noted on this site but if you book thru the hotel check out is noon. The hotel is very accommodating to hold your bags and offer showers to change if you happen to have a later flight. This wasnt an issue, just something I think can be helpful to know. We will definitely be back!

The resort is beautiful and the staff is very helpful and kind! We loved the beach and breeze!
The resort and rooms are clean and well cared for. The only thing missing from this resort is a hot tub by the pool area. The grounds are so beautiful at night that sipping a rum punch with my feet in a warm hot tub would have been icing on the cake! Will recommend to all our friends.

Wonderfully relaxing vacation!
Thank you for having us in your suite. So beautiful and felt luxurious with the ocean breeze and king size bed. So nice to make our own breakfast each morning and we brought our own espresso perculator to make in room iced lattes! The room was cleaned each day and the food on site was fantastic! Don't have to go off site to eat. I read 5 books and we enjoyed wonderful lazy days at the beach and pool. The beach sand restaurant was awesome with a great manager and fresh Mahi Mahi with salad and cheap Banks beer. The Italian restaurant had wonderful risotto and pasta, and the Seafood Restaurant was elegant and wonderful food. The pools are fantastic with lots of space for everyone. The lower pool is so nice for kids and adults with the gradual walk in areas. We did a catamaran day with RnR Catamaran Cruises. Fantastic hosts and so much more enjoyable with only 14 guests on board. Going into Bridgetown was fine to see, but The Crane is where it is at for rest and relaxation!!! Meshel & Rob Canada

Quite Resort With Stunning Views
Although we weren't able to stay in a full condo type of room, we still really liked the smaller "hotel like" room that we were assigned. The property is quite relaxing with the most gorgeous beach that I have seen. The resort is full with trees and flowers through out the resort. The pools were great for us in the evening. The restaurants had good food, and if you got tired of them, there was another restaurant just down the street. The Wifi was good. The grocery store nearby would pick you up if you needed some groceries and bring you back. We really liked this resort and don't have any complaints however the only thing that I wished it had, was a hot tub Jacuzzi outside by the pools to go in at night time. I recommend Staying at the Crane and we will most likely be going back soon.

What a special beach!
Our apartment within the overall facilities of the Crane Resort was large, spacious, super clean and fabulously equipped. It had two full bathrooms and a superb private balcony. There are several pools on the large property of the resort with spectacular views of the Atlantic sea. The Crane beach itself is fabulously gorgeous with some of the best sand you will ever find. But it is NOT a beach if you like to swim in the sea - only for playing around in the shallow part near the shoreline. My only criticism (which is in no way a refection of the apartment we stayed in) is that the Crane resort itself - having splendid grounds and amazing pools and friendly helpful staff - is super expensive to eat at the restaurants and shop for supplies, and the resort itself feels charmless and fabricated. If you don't have a car then you are quite isolated within its walls with a sense of being in a gated community. You cant walk around and explore anything except the resort itself. On another note, Julie and Peter who rented us the apartment were excellent do deal with - easy to contact, and always answered my emails within 24 hours. I sent money to a bank in the UK via wire transfer and it was super easy and the money was received with no problem at all within 2-3 days.

A great resort, off the beaten track
The Crane is a fantastic resort with great facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful. The beach and pools are amazing. We arranged a hire car via the concierge as you need one to explore the island - the Crane is away from the main touristy areas and taxis can be very expensive as there are no meters. All in all very good value - I would recommend the Crane to friends.

A Caribbean location that has everything
The property was everything we expected it to be. It was tastefully decorated, well presented and excellently maintained. Julie and Peter were exceptional in responding to all our questions and provided us with some very useful information. The Crane resort itself had all the amenities we required without being over commercial. The beach which is normally beautiful was often covered in a sea moss but The Crane beach management are installing a seaweed boom which we hope will resolve the problem.

A little piece of paradise
We loved it!! The Crane was wonderful and what a beautiful location. Your apartment is superb, much more spacious than I had anticipated. It was perfectly clean and the housekeeping team kept it well maintained throughout our stay. We had a truly amazing stay in your apartment and Barbados, we will definitely recommend both your accommodation and the Island to all our family and friends - in fact we have already done so with everyone we've met since we returned. I fully understand why you purchased the apartment and return year after year. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful place, we very much appreciate the opportunity to have visited this little piece of paradise and hope we will be able to book through you again for a return visit in the future.

The Crane
The owners Peter and Julie replied promptly to our emails and it was easy to make our booking. The apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped, and was exactly as described by the the owners. It was our second stay in this apartment and would recommend it.

We have been visiting Barbados since the mid-1980’s and then were fortunate enough to live on the Island for 3 years from 2007 to 2009. Having fallen in love with Barbados, we knew that we would always want to frequently return to the Island. Hence, we decided to invest in The Crane and purchased a quarter share in a 1-bed deluxe park residence. We plan to spend 2-3 months each year at The Crane when we retire, but until then we privately rent out ten of our weeks each year, which can be booked at any time throughout the year.

Why they chose this property

The Crane Hotel, built in 1887 has been sympathetically restored into a luxury 5-Star resort. It is set on the world-famous Crane Beach, overlooking a perfect azure blue sea. It is simply the most beautiful and enchanting resort on the Island of Barbados – for us there was no other choice – this is Barbados at its finest!
