We rented this house for two weeks in April and had family aged 7 - 83 join us there, and we all had a wonderful time. Helen was great to deal with, very communicative and helpful answering questions before our trip. She also made us feel so welcome with a basket of wine, biscuits, Easter eggs, and coffee. There were quite a few toilet rolls, diswasher tablets, etc. which we really appreciated as many rental places give you so few of those kind of things that you feel you have to go to the store before you've even settled in. Indeed it's the most well equipped rental I've ever been to - several hairdryers, espresso machine, tons of mugs, videos, games, maps and guide books to local walks (with a compass even!), spare light bulbs - everything you might think of; it kind of became a joke among us to try and find something we needed that wasn't there. It's very kid friendly with plastic tableware, lego, games, lots of picture books, etc. Also the place was very clean and well cared for and felt like it had been remodeled fairly recently. The location is lovely. Amazing walks/hikes, from a mile or two to much longer, are steps from the house. Matlock Bath 'center' is maybe 5 mins walk away and has nice pubs, restaurants, cafes, and several fish and chip shops. The arcades were a big hit with the kids as was Gulliver's Kingdom, and we also enjoyed the Heights of Abraham, strolling along the River Derwent, the little aquarium, and the views from Lover's Walk. There was plenty to do to keep young and old (active and less so) entertained. We didn't have a car for half of our stay and that was no problem - easy to walk every where, even into Matlock or Cromford, each about a mile away. Took a taxi back from the supermarket in Matlock when we did a bigger shop (for things that the little convenience store in Matlock Bath itself didn't have, but they have quite a lot!). We really loved the place and can't recommend it highly enough.
