Excellent All Round!
We had a fantastic holiday at La Groussie and highly recommend it! The accomodation is spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The pool was always inviting - a delight to enjoy during the hot weather. The sun canopy on the terrace was well used for lazy afternoons with a beautiful garden and countryside view. Being so close to the airport and Bergerac itself was so handy (and time saving) and it is a lovely area in general to explore. We would not hesitate to return to La Groussie. Many thanks Alistair and Co for a relaxing and memorable holiday.

Peacefully prefect.!
Stayed for 2 weeks with young kids, enjoying the lovely pool and garden. The house is spacious and has everything you can ask for. The house remains cool during hot days. If relaxing by the pool becomes too much then the house is also in a great location for some travelling round the amazing Perigord area. Castles, Château’s, caves, canoeing and of course wine tasting are all near by. Fantastic holiday with the family, thank you for letting us use your lovely home.

Beautiful cottage very close to everything you need.
Beautiful cottage very easy to find from airport. (Bergerac) only 10 minutes from large supermarket. 15 minutes from Bergerac. Cottage was spotless. It’s a must to visit supermarket before arriving at cottage as didn’t know all shops were closed on Sunday after we arrived & not a listed holiday. Bottle of wine left in fridge for us so that was handy. Pool guy keeps pool very well maintained. Grass could be better kept as knee height by time we got it cut(3 days before our fortnight up) granted weather had been bad with heavy rain storm before our arrival. Problem with no hot water for 4 days but Alistair was brilliant in sorting this out for us. Would definitely visit cottage again.

Excellent!
Excellent in every way. Spotlessly clean, and peaceful, the two things that are so very important to us. And we are quite particular! Superb views and the only noise we heard was the odd cow and the odd chicken! House is well equipped and lots of very useful information in the house. Alastair was really helpful before and during our stay. Anita, the housekeeper was also very helpful but certaily not intrusive. Super little village within walking distance, great restaurants and a useful little shop! We enjoyed lovely figs, apples and plums from the garden. We have been to this area many times and this is the only house to which we are keen to return. Thank you .

Peaceful rural retreat with great facilities and excellent pool
We stayed at La Groussie for fortnight with 3 generations of the family. The house is spacious and well-appointed, Alastair is helpful and takes great care in providing accommodation and support. There is a lot of interest in the region within reach. Overall, we had a great time here and a truly relaxing holiday. Thanks to Alastair and Aileen for sharing their home.

Best of Both Worlds
And relax ... on the terrace for alfresco dining, sunbathing around the pool with a welcome dip when too hot (pool temperature a good 27 degrees C - depending on ambient weather conditions) and lazy in the garden enjoying the peaceful rural location. Main part of the house can be kept comfortably cool with the blue or yellow bedrooms provide a relaxing nights sleep. A boulangerie incorporating a basic shop and La Terrasse restaurant in the village with local supermartkets only a few miles away you don't need much more. BUT!!! you are in one of them most beautiful parts of France even Europe, the Dordogne with some stunning views, character towns, historic buildings, chateaus, always a good restaurant to be found in any town, as well as some pretty good vineyards around Bergerac (we spoilt ourselves to some excellent red wine from Chateau Corbiac, Bergerac) whatever your style of holiday La Groussie is well equipped in a lovely location, the choice is yours and you won't be disappointed.

Rural idyll with stunning views and great pool
This was the second holiday we have spent at La Groussie and it was every bit as enjoyable as the first. The house is on one level and is very spacious and well equipped. It is surrounded by garden and only overlooked by wildlife - kites circle overhead and cows peer through the fence. We are a family with teenagers and all loved time in the pool, evenings spent eating outside on the terrace and enjoying the local restaurants. Bergerac is only a short drive away with its markets and shops. We also enjoyed the Sunday market at Issigeac, canoeing and visiting the chateau at Monbazillac. We highly recommend La Groussie for a taste of french country living and relaxation.

A lovely property with pool, near Bergerac
We (3 mature adults) had a wonderful September two-week holiday at La Groussie which is as described in the text, and more. The photographs don't really do justice to the amount of outside space that the property has. As it was fairly late in the season we were able to benefit from wonderful figs picked from the tree and plums which, due to a high wind, fell in huge numbers to the ground. The pool is a perfect size (we were 3 adults) and was always a warm average of 25 degrees – with the assistance of its solar cover. The house is very comfortable and the well equipped kitchen is apparently being remodelled for next year with the inclusion of wall cupboards which will lessen the need to bend to under counter shelves. There is a good selection of books and DVDs. We followed the advice of an earlier reviewer and approached the farmer next door for eggs. No problem. Two euro for 12 magnificent eggs, most of which were double-yolks. The instructions and advice we received with the keys were the most comprehensive ever, covering every possible how, where, why question! Thank you, Aileen and Alastair, for letting us stay in your Dordogne home.

Les vacances ideales, rurales et reposantes
La Groussie is in such a great location for getting around but also just to relax and unwind in such lovely surroundings. It is in a peaceful, rural location surrounded by hills, trees and fields. The house was immaculate on our arrival and it took us no time to settle in. We felt at home straight away! The owners make a point of always being helpful and always thinking about the comfort and well-being of their clients. The fantastic swimming pool added to our overall enjoyment and provided us with many family photos.......and memories. The "terrasse", with its tables and chairs provided us with the ideal place for family meals and socialising. There are plenty of wonderful places to visit in the surrounding area. One of our favourite places this time was Pombonne Park which provided us with trails for walks, runs, even a cafe for drinks or even lunch. So many memories, so many beautiful villages, excellent restaurants.... la belle France never disappoints. La Groussie has many leaflets which will allow you to decide on what activities you might participate in during your stay or where to visit. La Groussie provided our family with excellent accommodation, with plenty of space to roam free and with the opportunity to explore or just have fun in the pool.Thank you so much for allowing us to experience the Dordogne. For us, it has enabled us to have family celebrations and has given us many memories. Merci mille fois. A la prochaine visite.

Traditional house in a tranquil setting
Stayed at La Groussie this summer with our two teenage children. The house was larger than we'd expected with lovely views out over the valley. It was spotlessly clean, everything we needed was to hand and we felt at home straight away. The garden slopes away from the house and we enjoyed fresh peaches and plums from its trees. It has different areas where you can sit for a choice of sun/shade or breeze. The pool was clean, well maintained and the perfect size for a good swim or a play - we all loved it. The owner was very helpful and provided good information about how to use everything in the house and about things to do locally. We enjoyed trips to Issegiac and Beynac but spent most of our time in the pool as the weather was fantastically hot! Three delicious meals at La Terrasse restaurant in Campsegret with very friendly service. We have booked a repeat visit for next year.

Still a favourite
Having found La Groussie last year, we and our two friends had decided to return in 2015 as it exceeded expectations in everything we were looking for. The owners, together with Anita and Anil who look after the property locally are all most helpful and do all within their power to make us feel welcome and at home. Thank you Anita for the cleanliness of the house which was faultless and to Anil for his services too. The location and beautiful surroundings ensure a convenient but tranquil holiday, being very close to Bergerac, the airport plus other lovely old towns and several good supermarkets, yet the house could be in another universe, only a few chickens and cows from the nearby farm to disturb your peace. The friendly farmer's wife again kept us supplied with her fantastic eggs so fresh and we started to become disappointed when we found one without a double yolk!!! Having ventured out more this year, we came upon Issigeac by accident but spent a wonderful morning wandering the streets and alleyways of this medieval town. Well worth a visit the buildings which have stood the test of the centuries are amazing. We only wish we had found it earlier as apparently there is a good market on Sundays. Our trip this year ended on a lovely note. The restaurant in the centre of old Bergerac is rather touristy, but we found the food excellent and we enjoyed 2 lunches and suppers there. On our final visit, the chef came out to wish us Bon Voyage and our waitress who kept our table specially, handed us 2 bottles of Grand Vin de Bergerac to bring home. We were very touched and agreed it was absolutely synonymous with the reception we received everywhere in this locality. Go and enjoy, but leave some time in September for us to revisit please.

Our perfect holiday!
La Groussie is our favourite holiday accomodation we have found in France, after staying in quite a few other villas. After 3 consecutive years, we have booked it again for 3 weeks for 2015. (I have kept this wonderful house a secret...... as we wish to keep coming back each year!) The location is ideal, very close to Bergerac airport, the beautiful town of Bergerac itself and a very good location to explore all the attractions the area of SW France has to offer. Both the Dordogne River in all its glory, several nearby towns and of course the wine Chateaus. The accomodation itself , beds, seating and kitchen all good. Plenty of areas to store things. Lovely views to be had sitting outside for meals. A new BBQ in 2014. Pool area is super, enough loungers, a table and 6 chairs and sun shades........and did I mention.......the pool is heated! The owners are perfect, always available for any help/ assistance before and during our stay. We always drive from the tunnel, depending on the traffic can be managed in a day. A car is essential. Looking forward to this summer already!!

One of the Best
With two friends, we have been holidaying in France for 40 years. During that time, we have explored much of France and stayed in many different houses. We can honestly say, that La Groussie has been one of the best. On arrival we found the house beautifully clean (always and anxious moment when you unlock the door of a holiday home) and we settled in immediately. As the years have gone by, we tend to spend less time exploring and sightseeing and more relaxing by the pool and for this, La Groussie hits the button. In the most tranquil and breathtaking situation, we had no need of other activities beyond our daily walk in the exceptional countryside and restocking the wine box!!However, the morning/evening walks and swims in the after noon, ensured we did not return to the UK too unhealthy. To go to sleep after seeing the night sky with the most amazing stars ever and to wake up to the sunshine seeping through the window of your lovely bedroom was magical and will ensure that we return to La Groussie soon. So if you want relaxation and peace, this house is highly recommended but still close to airports and other amenities. We would recommend tearing yourself away to visit Bergerac however, especially the old town. The farmer next door was happy to sell us his enormous fresh eggs and the shop in the village supplied basic needs with a friendly smile - the Mousse de Canard is recommended to accompany their excellent bread. Merci bien Aileen and Alastair

Perdu dans le Perigord Pourpre
La Groussie was an ideal location for our family, quite close to Bergerac but located in beautiful rural France, with easy access to RN 21. The house provided us with a peaceful retreat in a very tranquil, rural corner of Dordogne. The holiday home was just as beautiful as the photos, with lovely accommodation that suited everyone. The outside was stunning with a fabulous swimming pool and a wonderful "terrasse" for eating, drinking and socialising. The garden and meadow provided walks and moments to daydream! The property was extremely well maintained and on our arrival, the house was immaculate. The owners were very helpful indeed and nothing was too much trouble. The information in the house enabled us to make plans for our visits during our holidays. We enjoyed visiting the local villages, the larger towns a little further away, the vineyards in the area, the local hypermarche, several chateaux, the rivers, the cafes, the restaurants in Bergerac and surrounding area. Walking, cycling, canoeing, sight-seeing are all possible activities in the area. However, the swimming pool also provides great family moments together; moments to be treasured. We had such a wonderful time at La Groussie and would love to go back. I most certainly would recommend this property to friends and relatives. Merci pour les merveilleux souvenirs.
