A wonderful stay
What a wonderful place to stay with very lovely and accommodating hosts. We spent a long weekend here with young children where could go swimming whenever we wanted and the owners let my children bottle feed the lambs. A perfect stay in the countryside with many placed to visit locally. Highly recommend

Post Christmas stay
Just what we needed after Christmas. Pauline and Norman are very friendly. The pool was a great bonus as others have said. Location is lovely and so quiet. Lots of fantastic dog walks, hikes, bike rides and country pubs. The house was very cosey and we loved the fire. Would stay again!

What a wonderful find!
There is nothing to fault with this property. From Pauline’s warm welcome with fresh eggs and milk in the fridge, beautiful interior, wonderful wood burner and cosy feel we’ve had the best pre-Christmas break. The cottage is extremely spacious and perfectly decorated. The kitchen has everything you could need. The indoor pool is fabulous and there are even pool towels ready. We will definitely come again. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home!

Authentic quiet rural experience
Friendly sociable hosts who provided comprehensive directions to the property, and a very good introduction to the property and its surrounding gardens and nearby private swimming pool. Authentic old property with modern fittings, large rooms although the ensuite facilities were a little compact to fit in the space between beams etc. The swimming pool was modern and available any reasonable time. The shower facilities next to the pool were excellent. Plenty of nature in the grounds, flowers, fruit trees etc and sheep, chickens to be fed, and lots of cats and kittens. Altogether a fabulous experience for the 10 nights, it was great to wake up to countryside views every morning. Thank you Pauline and Norman

Another lovely stay
Beautiful property and hosts. Weather was awful but swimming pool helps with the wet days. Sheep and chickens to feed. Lovely walk to Cretingham Bell and can highly recommend prawn sandwich on granary. Pauline & Norman are lovely non intrusive hosts who are only too willing to help if required. Property well stocked with cooking equipment and bedding and towels an added bonus.

Perfect break away
Thanks to owners Paulina and Norman for making this a perfect trip away. The property was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Stairs are steep as is usual in a period property. Beautiful ensuite bedrooms on two floors, top floor - mind the beam! Woodburner and comfortable lounge furniture with large dining table , kitchen with stunning views over the garden, and very useful lobby and downstairs convenience. The swimming pool was sheer delight!. My dog enjoyed the stroll via the quiet lanes to the Cretingham Bell where we all enjoyed out tasty meals. I hope we can return soon.

Beautiful
Such an amazing little place for a get away and relaxation, dont let the photos decive you as this place is more beautiful than photos show. The owners Pauline and Norman are such lovley freindly people and will help in anyway possible. Both of our children loved this place and wanted to stay longer. I think the only not bad but not good thing was eventhough it says heated pool it is a bit on the cold side even after being in it a while so could do with going up a couple of degrees. I know there not meant to be baths but warmer would be better :) the surrounding of the pool is nice and warm and your able to take you own pool toys/ floaties and have access when ever you like. Theres a small tv in the sitting room but we never used it as you have a beautiful view when the log fire is lit or just relax in the garden with the wildlife around you. Thanks for such a wonderful time at your cottage we will definitely be back.

Relaxing Easter break
Beautiful period property with stunning views of the countryside. We enjoyed a very relaxing week here, in the comfort of spacious, well decorated rooms and we made the most of the wood burner on cooler evenings. Our teenage boys loved the private pool and we all enjoyed the garden and nearby meadow, where our puppy was able to run freely. Everything was provided for a comfortable stay, and cleaned to the highest standard. Set in a beautiful location, this peaceful property is a great base from which to explore the English countryside.

Fantabulous Staycation
First of all, the first impression was Pauline herself who was very welcoming & showed us around the cotttage & how things worked. The Yew tree cottage is a very lovely cottage with it's own swimming pool, garden area, pond with fishes, cats running around, a swing, it's barn area, some sheep & chickens and obviously the nice owners. My kids 8 & 4 year old thoroughly loved their time whilst there especially swimming in the pool and when Pauline showed us around the lamb & the chickens. The inside of the cottage has it's original features but brilliantly modernised where you won't miss the comfort of a modern home. Overall, the owners are very nice people and caring. The cottage is superb. We had a splendid family time. I would recommend this cottage to anyone without any hesitation.

The perfect staycation. Scenery, cosy cottage and an awesome pool. What more could you want.
It looks like a place you see in the movies, gave me instant hansel and gretel vibes. However its kitted with all the essentials including brilliant WiFi. We practically lived in the pool. It was lovely, Pauline and Norman are an amazing couple. Their warmth is felt from the moment you arrive. They love their home and have ensured you have everything you might need during your stay. We loved the cosy vibes of the beautiful original house, the rooms were lovely. The pool was the highlight as the kids just didn't want to get out. The showers in the pool were so handy and powerful. We didn't get to try out the house showers! Loved having a cuppa with Pauline and Norman and discovering more about them and the house. We stayed 3 nights and hope to return in the summer for 7.

What a lovely place!!
We booked to stay at Yew Tree cottage as it came with use of the owners indoor pool and communicating with Pauline was very simple. She was quick to answer questions, we managed to have difficulty paying but sorted that out with VRBO (in Texas in the end!). We arrived late as already agreed and there had been some local flooding, Pauline messaged us to outline where the floods were, it couldn't have been easier! We arrived and Pauline came round and showed us where everything was and how to manage the pool etc. On the Sunday morning we were shown how to feed the chickens (which we did in the week) and we must say the cottage is lovely. The cottage is attached to their farmhouse with a locked adjoining door, it is a beautiful timber framed building with uneven floors and beautiful features. There was a wood burning stove for use in the living room and a fully equipped kitchen. There was nothing we needed whilst we were there. I can thoroughly recommend Pauline and Norman's cottage, they are immensely nice people and very accommodating, the area is quiet and remote with a pub in the village about a mile away. There are some other lovely villages close by as well! We had a thoroughly relaxing week in a lovely setting (with lots of swimming!). An amazing break from the rat race!

Wonderful
We had the most wonderful holiday staying at Yew Tree Cottage in Cretingham. The cottage is spacious and full of character and has everything you may need for a relaxing holiday. We enjoyed days out at Bawdsey, Bressingham and Thorpeness where we took out a rowing boat around the huge lake. There is also mini golf there at the golf hotel just up the road. We enjoyed going to The Bell Inn in the evenings (20 min walk) which is an excellent friendly pub with a good and varied menu. Pauline and Norman are excellent hosts and we very much enjoyed meeting them. The swimming pool is first class and a wonderful treat. So refreshing after a days sightseeing. We very much enjoyed our holiday here in Suffolk and hope to return again one day.

Bought Yew Tree Cottage 6 years ago and it forms half the house in which we have lived since 1979. We completely refurbished Yew Tree Cottage as a fully equipped holiday home. Now semi retired and keep a small holding with sheep and chickens. Someone should be around most of the time to help with queries/directions etc.

What makes this property unique

Yew Tree Cottage is in a quiet rural location with
views over the meadows and farmland. The cottage is timber framed with many original features but fully equipped kitchen with all mod cons. Gas fired central heating with underfloor heating in the kitchen and a wood burner in the lounge to keep you cosy no matter what the weather!
