Beautiful home, beautiful surrounds.
Our family had a fabulous time. Glasnock house was everything it said it was and more. One of the best equipped houses we have stayed in. The kitchen was a cooks dream all with light shining in from the outside. The views from all the windows were stunning and while we had weather that was misty, wet and cool when we weren’t out and about we were warm and cozy watching the hills as they disappeared and reappeared amounts the clouds. Beds comfortable and bathrooms gorgeous.

Absolute paradise
Glasnock house was everything we dreamed of when we found it. Perfect location in the Western Scottish Highlands! Rebecca has thought of everything! We loved our stay and we had a special family vacation there. Also, to be noted, the guest book showed multiple return guests which is a testament to the house’s charm and beauty.

A Highland Retreat
Very relaxing stay in a nice environment. Exactly what we wanted. The owner went out of her way to ensure we were properly informed about the property and the surrounds. She is passionate about the property and its location and wants to ensure everyone enjoys it to the full which we did.

Great property for hill walkers
The property is set amongst stunning scenery. It is incredibly clean and comfortable, and the owners has literally thought to provide everything that could conceivably be needed. The house is also a fantastic base from which to go walking, or kayaking/paddle boarding, or to get to the coast.

Fabulous Location
From the moment we turned down the track road we knew this house was something spectacular. All the pictures and videos just don’t do it justice. We were greeted by Luca who was stripping the lawn (dear to my heart) perfectly with a smile and a warm welcome! We were not disappointed by the house, every room has been decorated tastefully with some lovely homely touches. You feel at home instantly, and I guarantee you will not want to leave. Rebecca who owns the property was in touch leading up to our stay with loads of fantastic information and checking in a couple of times through WhatsApp, perfect. If you want a peaceful beautiful home for a week with some of the best walks in the WORLD then Glasnock is for you! The lochs are perfect for paddle boarding, and the rivers that flow to them are not deep, good for the dogs and kids. The windows are big and the patio area is great ( bit uneven slabs) to sit and watch the reindeer come in to the garden at night to nibble on the plants and grass, my daughter and Springer Spaniel loved it. The heart of the house is the kitchen, we had some fantastic family dinners and laughs. Thanks Rebecca, Bev (house manager) and Luca (maintenance manager) for our amazing week in your home! Simon, Amanda, Shayna and Alyssa Ballantyne. Plus our wee springers.

A stunning house set in in am absolutely beautiful location
The house is stunning and just works at all levels. The house overlooks two small lochs set surrounded by mountains with good walking and climbing. The location in between Kirshorn, Shieldaig and Torridon means that great restaurants and food are also easily accessible. Especially seafood!

Superb!
We had a wonderful week at Glasnock House. No expense or thought has been spared when it comes to the house. We enjoyed local beaches and walks and had lovely meals at the Applecross Inn and the Kishorn seafood bar. We even caught some fish in the local loch. Highly recommended. Thanks, Rebecca.

Wonderful house in a stunning location
Dear Rebecca, Just a short note to thank you so very much for sharing your beautiful house - our stay in Glasnock was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. Unfortunately we were unlucky with the weather and faced hurricane force winds and heavy rain but this did not stop us venturing out locally and also to Applecross and Sky. However I must say that the very best bit was returning to Glasnock and hunkering down in such a warm comfortable house. You thought of everything, from a very well stocked kitchen to a cosy log burner, extremely comfortable beds and toys , high chair etc for the little one and plenty of space for us all - even the dogs were very well provided for. It is a house and area we would love to re-visit, so until the next time, many, many thanks from us all. Ali and family (6 adults, 1 toddler and 3 dogs)

Amazing house in a splendid location
Words can’t begin to explain what a gem this house is. The owner is absolutely delightful and helpful for any questions before, during or after the stay. Every single detail in the house has been carefully thought through and the location is just gorgeous. This house is also perfect for families with children. Highly recommend this dream house and the opportunity to discover this part of Scotland.

Heavenly - exceeded expecations
Our stay at Glasnock House exceeded all expectations. Beautifully furnished, decorated and maintained, the house was almost too good to leave, and we spent many long hours relaxing with books (A level and degree revision for the kids, glossy magazines and novels for me!), enjoying meals and glorious views around the kitchen table. However, the lure of the surrounding hills was too strong to resist, and many long hours were spent walking from the door to the snowy summits whatever the weather. We were blessed with some sun, rainbows, a sprinkling of snow and only one rainy day. It didn't matter - bring your waterproofs, embrace the elements and return for a steaming pot of tea, or champagne and a spa bath. I hope we will be back soon.

What an amazing house and location!
Glasnock is a real dream. The house has been so beautifully designed and decorated - definitely feels like a home rather than a holiday rental, so many personal touches. The location is idyllic - on your own loch with the most dramatic mountain views to greet you every morning. The whole Wester Ross area is full of things to see and do, craft, yummy eateries and of course the extensive walking. We'll be back. We loved it.

Perfect, in every way!!
We have sought for, and had yet to have success in, finding the "perfect" vacation getaway. Glasnock is it, in so many ways. Peaceful, remote, therapeutic, awe inspiring... We could not have been more pleased with our good fortune of securing a week at this incredibly special place. Highly recommend for anyone that wants to truly escape from the daily grind!! You will not be disappointed. Worth the extra effort to get there. Then you will not want to leave :-)

Fabulous location, beautifully presented property
The scenery all around Glasnock is stunning. There are are jaw dropping views from every direction. The house is tastefully furnished to a very high standard. As well as been elegant and stylish, the house is warm and homely. The owners had thoughtfully provided all the items one might need. There are lots of things to do in the area and our three children has a wonderful time playing in the streams and lochs and on the beaches and hills that surround the property. The provision of very high quality catering by the local chefs at Kishorn Kitchen made the break into a real holiday. We have already booked a return visit!

Breathtaking.....
We really don't want to give it a good review because then you'll all want to go too.....! But, Glasnock really is one of the best places we have ever stayed, stunning, well equipped, beautiful decor, amazing location, perfect for walking, that's if you can tear yourself away from the house, the views and the neighboring stags!

PERFECT. Utter perfection.
We stayed at the Owner's other property, Shepherds Cottage, earlier in the year and vowed to return to the area - this time however to magnificent Glasnock House. Oh my goodness, nothing disappointed, this place is sublime perfection. Glasnock oozes luxury on every level, no detail is overlooked - this really is heaven on earth and like stepping into a 5* luxury hotel. It surpassed all expectation. We tried out the local Chef on the nights we couldn't be bothered cooking, the masseuse visited and we even paid the odd visit to the gym (the floor to ceiling windows and spectacular views inspire!) The area is stunning, there is so much to do and explore and the house never fails to deliver, so even rainy days were enjoyed by all. We will certainly be back and heartily recommend. Thank you for the holiday of a lifetime!!

Wonderful setting
A good measure of how a holiday house stacks up is the "chill out" factor and Glasnock has it in spades. Such a warm and beautifully furnished house with a kitchen that was a pleasure to cook in - we felt right at home. A tranquil place from which to explore the highland surrounds. We would love to come back one day. Louise and Alex, Melbourne

Bliss
We spent a week at Glasnock in January and it was heaven. The location on the Lochcarron estate was quintessential highlands with snow, wild deer & unbeatable scenery. The house is equivalent to staying in a 5 star hotel, with every possible appliance, a new immaculate kitchen and real attention to detail. We will certainly be going back and would recommend visiting to anyone with a family. The help & effort put in by the owner & staff were also as you would expect from such a beautiful house & location.

Glasnock, a truly wonderful experience
Me, my husband and our dog Jai spent 2 weeks holiday at Glasnock in October this year (2013), and it was quite simply our best self-catering experience ever. The beautifully designed house provisioned everything that anyone could ever need, and exuded quality. It was immaculate and as we explored we were so happy to discover that the photographs were true to life ... all of the rooms were beautifully furnished with many thoughtful touches, not least the welcome hamper. The bathrooms were particularly luxurious, and I loved the large kitchen, a real heart of the home. We felt instantly at home and completely relaxed. For Jai, the well-fenced garden was also perfect. The views from all of Glasnock's windows were captivating as the surrounding landscape is absolutely stunning and on those days that we stayed at home, watching the wildlife and the mountains change their colour throughout the day was fantastic, especially for an amateur photographer like me. Imagine been able to photograph a stag through the window! For anyone that needs to keep in touch with the office on a regular basis like my husband, the high speed broadband and a full 5 bar mobile phone signal were a real bonus too. Whilst Glasnock benefits from being extremely private, it is only a short and very scenic drive to the nearby villages of Kishorn and Lochcarron where we stocked up on food provisions. We were also able to buy fresh lobster and langoustines, cooking themselves and enjoying them together with a bottle of champagne. We opted not to go out in the evening but after dinner sat on the comfy sofa and watched the big screen TV! Home from home! I think perhaps I should have used the well equipped gym to burn a few calories but instead preferred to walk Jai in the immediate location and took much pleasure in just absorbing the tranquillity and sheer beauty of the area. In fact we also did a great deal of exploring by car, with I think, the highlight being the coastal route around the Applecross peninsula. Every bend or turn revealed a new spectacular vista. Applecross Inn is also a must. For the first time ever, neither of us wanted to return home. Glasnock not only fulfilled our expectations, it exceeded them. We would recommend this holiday rental wholeheartedly and in fact we have already re-booked to return in spring 2014. We can't wait.

About the host

Host profile image
With the help of architects and interior designers I wanted to create a luxury retreat, a sanctuary for people like me who love to get away from it all but who want to do so in a luxurious environment with all the benefits of modern technology.

Glasnock House is the ideal getaway for guests looking for peace and tranquillity in a brand new modern home.

Why they chose this property

GLASNOCK House is my sanctuary, I wanted to create the feeling of a relaxed but luxurious country home but with all the conveniences of modern life - that's where the underfloor heating, gym, plasma screens and high speed internet comes in!

I love spending time here, far away from my hectic lifestyle and I think this house would appeal to anyone wanting the same from their holiday.

A perfect 'get away from it all' haven of peace and tranquility, perfect for couples or families.

What makes this property unique

There is so much to do in the local area - gorgeous deserted beaches, excellent hiking trails, or fishing and stalking. Otherwise, make the most of the masseuse who lives nearby, or Alison the Chef who will come and cook at home (or deliver delicious home-cooked goodies). You don't even have to leave the serenity of Glasnock if you don't feel inclined!
