Friendly, helpful hosts, comfy & a great location
Our apartment was really clean and very comfortable to stay in. Ena & Steven are terrific hosts, we felt well looked after & the Homeaway photos accurately represent a cosy clean, renovated & stylish apartment to stay in. We loved the location - the short walk to the lake (Bluebird Cafe is great!) or to the town. Coniston is a relatively central location for drives in the Lake District as well a being a beautiful part of the Lake District.

Enjoyable stay
Great location, 3 min walk to village and bus stop. Yewdale Inn excellent food choices. Apartment is cosy, clean, well equipped. Coffee plunger also. Under floor heating if you liked. No aircon for summer. Nice private courtyard. Only issue I had was ventilation. Only one tiny window that opened. The only other window opened onto street. Could not leave door open as there was no protection from rain. Friendly owners live next door

Lovely Apartment - Excellent Hosts
We stayed two nights in Ena and Steve's apartment. It is set in a lovely location in Conniston in a more quiet area in the Lakes District. The apartment has everything you could need for your stay. Ena and Steve were excellent hosts and were so helpful in many ways. The location is ideal to travel to any part of the Lakes District, but Conniston itself has some delightful features. We certainly will be recommending this apartment to family and friends. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Fell walking near Coniston
The property was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It is small but that is clear from the information on the website and was a perfect location for a week solo walking in the Coniston and Langdale area

Ideal holiday location
The accommodation is ideal for two, situated a few minutes from the lake and a short walk gets into the heart of Coniston. The car was not needed as there is local transport that will take you to all parts of the Lake District National Park. The apartment provides a warm and comfortable place to stay and has everything you will need. Great week.

Coniston stay
We found the accommodation easily and it was in a perfect location close to all local amenities. The accommodation was just as seen. It was very clean and well presented. On arrival Ena met us and was very welcoming. She gave us a brief overview of the accommodation. There are local walks if you want or it is within a few miles of Ambleside and Windermere. I would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable and handy
Ena and Steve were friendly, helpful hosts. We enjoyed meeting them. The apartment was just what we wanted for our visit to the Lakes District. The kitchen was compact but well equipped, the bed comfortable, and nice little patio area if we wanted to sit outside.

Convenient and very comfortable
We'd probably prefer a separate bedroom to the studio arrangement, but booked it fairly late so choice was limited, and grew to like the idea! The short walking distance from the centre of Coniston is great and of course its ideally placed for many short and long, low level and high level walks without moving the car. Everything you need in a compact space. Warm and comfortable.

Perfection!
There was nothing not to love about this apartment. It was cozy and comfortable and in the perfect location. Your hosts were extremely quick with communication and check in and out was a breeze. The apartment was spotlessly clean and well stocked for eating in. The location made walking to town for a pint easy and quick. We would love to stay here again the next time we visit the Lake District!

About the host

Host profile image
My husband, daughter and I have lived happily in Bell Cragg Cottage Coniston for the last 35 years. We are very much involved in our small community, familiar with the local facilities, pubs (5), restaurants, cafes, walks, rides (bike + horse), boating centre etc. Beck Lodge is attached to our main property but separate from it with its own entrance, parking etc. Beck Lodge is the closest accommodation in Coniston Village to the lake (400m). Once we have settled you in to Beck Lodge you will not hear from us unless you require any assistance/ information when we are nearby and will do our best to help you in whatever way we can.

Why they chose this property

We wanted to live in the heart of the Lake District and fell in love with the location of our home and its spectacular views of the Coniston mountain range and Grizedale Forest. There is no place to compare with the Lake district in the whole of the UK for its beauty and accessibility having such a wide range of landscapes in a relatively small area. Although many people visit, it is always possible to find a quiet place to enjoy away from the crowds. Beck Lodge is a ground floor apartment with good access on Lake Road and ideally positioned 5 minutes flat walk from both Coniston village centre and Coniston Water (the Lake). Beck Lodge is also the closest village accomodation to the lake and my husband often wanders down on a quiet morning/ evening for a swim.

What makes this property unique

A beautifully furnished modern studio apartment for two, midway between Coniston Water and the village centre. The studio is very comfortable, decorated to a high standard with all modern conveniences and is ideal for any time of the year. Located on Lake Road, the ground floor accommodation has very good access and is only five minutes flat walking distance of both the lakeshore (closest accommodation to the lake) and village centre. There is plenty to see and do within easy reach (boating centre, walks, rides, museum, 3 mini markets, 5 pubs, numerous restaurants, cafes etc.) but as Beck Lodge is on the edge of the village it is quieter when you just want to relax. Coniston Water is famous for the water speed record attempts by Sir Donald Cambell in his 'Bluebird' jet-boat - the jetty from which he set off is only 10 mins walk away. Ruskin Museum which will house the original restored Bluebird is 8min walk away. The 'Bluebird Cafe' is on the lakeshore just 5mins walk from Beck Lodge and is very popular with its beautiful views over the lake. It is possible to reach Beck Lodge using public transport. Quite often guests arriving by car park up and leave the car unused for the whole of their stay. Beck Lodge is very well placed for numerous walks to suit all levels of fitness and experience. This can be a gentle stroll to the Lake or Village, a low level lakeside walk or a longer walk into the Coniston Fells. Similarly there are numerous mountain and road bike routes in the surrounding area and bikes can be stored in our locked garage during your stay.
