About this property

Cosy Accommodation For 4 People In The Heart Of The Trossachs

The Hayloft holiday accommodation nestles below the craggy, wooded slopes of Craigmore and the famous River Forth. It is a short walk to the lovely village of Aberfoyle, located in Central Scotland at the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. To see the best of the unspoiled, natural beauty of the Trossachs, you should park the car, get out and walk, cycle or canoe. There are miles of walking and cycling routes through the forest right on the doorstep and many golf courses nearby. The Scottish Wool Centre, Go Ape and the David Marshall Visitor Centre are all within walking distance from the Hayloft. Learn about the history of the area and discover "Rob Roy" country. The bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, and the cities of Stirling, Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh are less than 90 minutes drive. Relax! Enjoy the peace and tranquillity at any time of year, spring, summer, autumn or winter. Each season has its own unique appeal.

The Hayloft is best suited to a couple or a family with children. There’s a double bedroom and a second bedroom with bunk beds.

Nature
The Hayloft is in a beautiful location. Very quiet area, lots of birds, lovely old growth forest at back fence. Hosts were very friendly. They had ideas for the area and Neil leant us a fishing rod and gear which made our daughter very happy. Kitchen well equipped and place had a nice home feel. Cooked every night, Aberfoyle not great for night eating out so kitchen very useful. House clean, wine on arrival delicious. Bed mattresses a little uncomfortable but plenty of bedding, pillows etc. We wished we had a week there rather than just 4 nights as there is so much to do as well as just relaxing. Wee Blether nearby a must coffee shop, as well as hiring canoes on Loch Ard. So many walking trails too.

Cosy accommodation in a great location
This is a cosy little property looking out on a lovely garden.Although the dining kitchen and living room were quite small we did not feel cramped. The owners Dorothy and Neil were very hospitable, providing us with some shortbread biscuits, a little whisky and their own grapes. Since this is a two bedroom property It was useful having a second bedroom in which to put our cases and bags. The location is excellent, very close to Aberfoyle and within easy walking distance of Loch Ard. Access to the rest of the Trossachs is very easy from here. We would certainly stay here again if we are visiting this area,

Great stay
The appartement feels like a house and is exactly as described. Very comfortable, cosy and clean. We loved the garden and the woods with the swings. The communication with Dorothy was quick and easy. It was the perfect point for us to explore Loch Lomond and the surroundings.

Absolutely Lovely
What a wonderful place to stay, just down the road from Aberfoyle which is a great place to get away to while still retaining restaurants and shops. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, the cottage is adorable and well furnished. The views from the cottage are very nice and there are tons of excellent walks either straight out the garden or down the street a ways. They had a great DVD collection for rainy days, they provided legos for my 2 year old, though she was more inclined to destroy rather than build (sorry spaceships), we were really wanting for nothing, heat and hot water were excellent, wifi was fast. Parking was incredibly close and convenient. I really can't say enough good things!

Wonderfully cosy, comfortable and well set-up
We can't speak highly enough of our stay. We loved it so much that we extended by a night! The Hayloft has everything you need to be incredibly comfortable and relaxed, and Dorothy and Neil are so accommodating. It's a brilliant mix of well thought through practical things like a utility room, along with holiday luxuries like a big bath, snuggly bed, and a lovely selection of books and DVDs! It was also great for our 1 year old who loved being there. You can't beat the location - you can walk to Aberfoyle for groceries, coffee and a lovely pub, and you can access stunning walks without needing to get in the car. We fell in love with the area and hope to be back for another stay at the Hayloft!

Lovely little apartment
The Hayloft may not be the biggest, but the space has been well-designed and beautifully presented. The outside space is fantastic, with a great garden, including two great swings for the kids and plenty to explore. Although attached to the hosts' house, the Hayloft feels quite private, but Dorothy and Neil were readily available to deal with any enquiries and to offer advice on the local area. The area is amazing, with a range of activities within easy reach. While we were staying work was being carried out on the road between the Hayloft and Aberfoyle, but Dorothy went out of her way to explain this to us well before we arrived and make sure we were able to work around any impact this might have had on our stay. Overall, fantastic place to stay. Highly recommend.

A cosy home from home in a spectacular location
We had a lovely short break at the Hayloft which was perfect for a family of four. It was cosy, homely, warm and comfortable, with lots of lovely touches by the owners, including fresh grapes from their vine. The surroundings are truly beautiful - next to Loch Ard with many walks and cycle paths. We loved it here. And the dog was thrilled with the woods at the back garden. Perfect for morning walks. Definitely would like to come back!

Lovely break
The Hayloft is very cosy and comfortable. We did many of the suggested local walks, lovely views. It's a 15 min stroll to Aberfoyle with good bakers, butchers and a Coop. It's a good location to explore the Trossachs. The french windows look out on the garden and more importantly the bird feeders, fascinating watching the various birds and red squirrels. We had a lovely break, a great escape from all the covid19 troubles. Good measures in place. Thank you.

Early September
The property was ideally located. Could easily walk into the village or have a lovely walk with stunning scenery around loch Ard and Aberfoyle forest. The cottage had everything we needed. Dorothy and Neil were both very welcoming. Their garden was beautiful loved watching the red squirrel rushing backwards and forwards and the woodpecker on the bird feeder, along with all the other birds that visited. Ideal location for visiting some amazing locations. Three Loch Drive and Loch Lomond definitely worth a visit.

Great stay at The Hayloft
The Hayloft is beautifully situated on the outskirts of Aberfoyle. A great tranquil place with lots of wildlife around. We saw various birds in the great garden inclusing a sparrow hawk and a buzzard. Also a red squirrel and a pine marten came feeding in the garden. The house is big enough for two adults and two children, Well equiped. A great place to stay with Aberfoyle and the rest of The Trosachs at your doorstep.

Very comfortable property, many thanks
We stayed at the Hayloft for a week during February half term. Dorothy and Neil were both very friendly and I'm sure that had we needed anything they would have been happy to help. As it was, the Hayloft was so comfortable and well-equipped we wanted for nothing. The garden adjoining the Hayloft is beautiful and tranquil. The area around the Hayloft is perfect for local walks and seeing the sights of the Trossachs. Aberfoyle with shops and pubs is a 15 min walk or a couple of minutes drive. A lovley relaxing stay in one of the better properties that we have rented over the years. many thanks!

Nice location
Lovely little cottage which we felt was a good size for 2-3 people but maybe a squeeze for 4-5. Some of the crockery and kitchen equipment were chipped and tired and could be replaced, general cleanliness could have been better. Well equipped with books, games, local info and DVD's. Beautiful garden but the midges prevented us from using it ! Great location for exploring the stunning countryside and walking into Aberfoyle for a pub meal. Overall we had a good time.

About the host

I am artist. My husband Neil and I both worked for BBC television for many years. We moved to Aberfoyle because we loved the area and were always visiting at weekends. When the perfect house came up in the perfect location we couldn't resist! We love living here and hope you will enjoy your visit too. Many of our guests come back every year.

Why they chose this property

The house is ideally situated. We are in the heart of the Trossachs, one of Scotland's most beautiful areas. You can walk out the door to a loch, be up a hill or in the village in minutes. Just a short drive will take you to the most varied scenery.
Every season is lovely and the wildlife is endlessly fascinating. We have deer in the woods above the house and ospreys nesting on Loch Ard.
it's also really easy to reach Glasgow, Stirling or Edinburgh.

What makes this property unique

Cosy hideaway in a beautiful rural location.

We have wifi.
