Absolutely quiet and cozy accommodation
The cottage is as described, has a lovely garden with the promised seaview and a nice quiet village with a good pub, bus station, a castle, beach and a grocery shop. This Place is a good starting point for hiking tours on the Pembrokeshire-Coast-Path and visits of a lot of worthwhile trips.

Lovely situation although steep hill to climb. Shower needs updating.
Lovely views but steep hill to climb to lovely location. Very private with lovely garden. Could do with a more friendly shower and maybe a log burner for colder evenings.

Didn’t want to leave
Quiet peaceful cottage. Lovely beach vibe touches by Maggie. Outstandingly clean. Slept well in gorgeous comfy bed. Fabulous weather for end March. Bonnie our spaniel loved the garden so much. Three days wasn’t enough. Castle & beach in walking distance, walk back gave our legs a good workout. Had a little trouble with phone receiption, however internet ok.

Winter stay at Tarr Cottage
Cottage is tucked away at top of a drive still in Manorbier, perfect if you want a quiet break, great internet, no phone coverage from Vodaphone, cottage though has a landline payphone, very useful. Good facilities in the kitchen, nice touch was the wee welcome pack left by Maggie. Both Maggie and Richard were very prompt and helpful in dealing with any problems. Recommend this as a holiday stay very much

Great location
A cosy cottage with all the amenities needed for a week’s break. A ten minute walk from Manobier’s beautiful beach. Views from the garden over the castle and down to the bay. Off road parking and secure garden for the dogs. We’ll stay there again.

Special memories can be made here!
A bright and well presented character accomodation with lovely art & crafted personal touches around making it feel more homely and relaxing than most bland holiday spaces. Everything you could want for quieter evenings in and the information to hand to plan busy days out, rain or shine. It's 'tucked away' position above Manorbier is unique, the superb view from the garden of the castle and beach in golden evening light is priceless.

The cottage was warm and clean and I had internet.
I don’t think the property should have been let with all the mud on the lane. My car is very muddy. Also I had a very difficult time finding the cottage. A sign at the bottom of the lane would have helped! I only stayed one night as the bed was very uncomfortable and I could only find one pillow without feathers, which was also hard. The only thing I liked about the property was the garden. A second sleepless night and I would have been unable to drive home. Please tell Maggie not to bother sending the charger back to me as I have another one thank you.Altogether not a nice experience.

well positoned, comfortable cottage in its own secluded spot, but close to Manorbier amenities.
A well positioned, comfortable Manorbier cottage, ideal for an away from it all break but with the shop, cafe, pub and beach all within a short stroll. Great breakfasts at the cafe and the food is also very good at the pub. The shop carries all the essentials you need when self catering and there is also a post office on the premises Good facilities and wifi at the cottage and the view is really good over Manorbier to the castle and beach. I know it's a personal thing, but my wife and I both found the bed very comfortable and slept extremely well whilst staying here. If you want to give the car a rest when you arrive, there is a good bus service which runs to Haverford West in one direction and Tenby the other way. Definitely worth thinking about as an alternative way of getting to Tenby during the holidays when the place is very busy with lots of cars on narrow streets. For beach enthusiasts, Swanlake is a short walk west on the coast path (Skrinkle Haven and Church Doors to the West although not as easily accessible). Broadhaven South and Barafundle Bay both to die for. Marloes sands (on the North side of Milford Haven) is also amazing but only accessible for maybe 6-7 hours when the tide is out unless you are used to some climbing. It's definitely on our short list for a return visit!

Great
Our stay was great. The chairs were comfortable. The two bigger beds were comfortable but the smaller extra one Was not as comfortable and when I sat down too quickly the planks fell out but I was able to put them back easily so no problem there. The best beaches were only a short drive and a walk away.

Delightful cottage in Manobier
We very much enjoyed our stay in Tarr Cottage and really appreciated the lovely hamper that Maggie left out for us. Loved the secluded spot and the view for the castle and sea from the garden.

Cosy cottage with everything needed and only 5 minute walk from beach
Manorbier is a lovely little village and just a 5 minute walk from the beach. The cottage was a cosy place to stay and our 2 dogs were happy at being accepted. Although we went out every day the garden is a great size and the cottage has everything required to make your stay comfortable. We did go in March and the weather was a bit chilly so unfortunately we had to have the heating on but this didn't take away our having a great break. There are plenty of places to visit and with it being out of season it suited us even better as the dogs were allowed on all the beaches although there were a couple we didn't allow them as there would have been a risk of them slipping down rocks etc. due to the cliffs being too wet at this time of year. Overall we had a lovely time and would certainly visit again.

Ideally situated close to the beach. Very comfortable with everything you could need. Very clean.
The cottage is very clean and well maintained. The owners have ensured that it is well resourced with everything you could need. Good selection of games and books and fast wifi. Lovely welcome hamper was a surprise and much appreciated. The cottage is ideally situated and is just a short walk from the beach which is great for dog walking. Beautiful views from the garden. A great place to stay and we would definitely stay here again.

A quiet and pleasant place for two.
We found the house and garden a very relaxing place with privacy and good views. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Some fittings were a little "tired" but perfectly usable.

Comfortable & Cosy
A warm welcome on our arrival with some local asparagus (which we went on to buy lots more to take home!) We wanted some peace and quiet which is what we got in spades. The garden was lovely, spring in Wales is much further on than in Suffolk and the smells of the spring flowers and the sound of the birdsong massaged our tired shoulders and was safe and secure for our young spaniel Bertie who loved it too. Although cold, windy and wet windy we were sad to leave the peace and quiet of Tarr Cottage and step back into the real world

Delightful.
Wonderful spot, lovely helpful welcome and clean. It's a super hidden-away spot with lovely garden, yet only 5 minutes from the centre of Manorbier, and with view from the secret patio of castle and bay. And in summer weather the garden would be a delight. Lots of equipment and family games too. Many thanks - we'll certainly recommend and hope to come again.

There's a reason it has 5 stars!!
So comfortable. I felt I was at a friends house. The house is so clean, warm, updated and just downright cute. I am a 40 something lady and I came alone with my dog. I felt completely safe!! All the rooms are a GREAT size. The house has everything you might need. Utensils, bowls, cups, silverware and cookware. Even a basket of maps and literature of things to do. A book shelf of fun board games, misc misc. All those touches that really make a difference. A perfect little yard with an area to sit outside and gaze at the ocean view. The owner is a sweetheart, responsive and very accommodating. Rental was a snap, no problems. To sum it up: If you want a few days alone, come here! If you want a romantic weekend, come here! If you want to meet up with family or a few friends, come here!! It is truly perfect. The beach is less than 10 minutes and it is absolutely beautiful. The castle is 5 minutes. GO HERE!

First but not last visit
We stayed in Tarr Cottage last week. We were very pleased with all aspects of the holiday. It started well with the detailed directions that got us there with no problems, even with a woman reading the map! Then came the hamper, loaded with a variety of tea, coffee, chocolate, cookies, Welsh cakes and fruit. Not to mention the 4 pints of milk in the fridge. My partner made short work of all the goodies and left the bananas for me.The cottage was cosy, neat and tidy and located perfectly for our week of walking and visiting the beautiful beaches. I adored the lazy boys chairs and throws, which I made use of, on a daily basis, much to the amusement of my partner. Most importantly for our weary bodies, after a long day walking, the hot showers and comfortable bed. The location was great and we were able to visit from Saundersfoot all the way to St. Davids, without spending hours in the car. Manobier beach was a picturesque place to stay with amazing views from the garden. We loved it all. We will definitely be aiming to go back again. Wales may have even won over Scotland.

About the host

Hosted by Maggie Tooby

Host profile image
Richard and Maggie discovered this cottage hidden away in the village. After major garden clearance they discovered The View. They plan to downsize to the cottage when their children leave home. As owners of the cottage, they live within walking distance, so are there if you need them but would prefer you to enjoy your holiday without interference- the cottage is yours to enjoy.

Why they chose this property

We love Pembrokeshire because of the beaches- the variety and splendour. Manorbier in particular has several beaches within walking distance.
We also like the sea life - seals, porpoises, and the amazing sea birds - cormorants, gannets, fulmars and the puffins on the island - razorbills and guillemots.
For those that like to explore the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the sea/coast/ estuaries and villages it is ideally located.

Fishing trips,

For landlubbers there is plenty to do too, or not to do if you prefer!

What makes this property unique

The cottage is in its own private garden with your car parked conveniently- but you may chose not to use your car while enjoying your holiday ( a rare treat for most) as so many facilities are nearby in the village.
The garden is positioned to make the most of any sunshine throughout the day.

The train station is accessible but a good walk away.
