Overall good stay
To start with it was an overall good stay for this family of six. The neighborhood itself was quiet. The residence was full of greenery which was pleasant to breathe in and observe. It even had mango trees. The bedrooms were comfortable and had wall mounted A/C units. The bathrooms were somewhat updated. The quaint kitchen had all the necessities including a gas stove/oven unit that may take some of us spoiled Americans time to get used to. Heywood beach is about a 7 min. walk from the residence. Also, this beach is near The Caboose eatery, a must go to especially on the weekend. The owners provided a useful guide at the residence to use for booking tours or finding places to eat. We only had one issue with the stove that was quickly handled by the handyman Basil. Finally, we parked exclusively in the front of the residence, leaving enough room for traffic that might turn the corner. I would have liked to use the parking in the rear. However, the driveway has an incline that is unlevel at the zenith. Imagine walking up an incline that starts to tilt right as you approach the top. It prevents a caravan (that sits low) from parking there. The safest bet is to rent a jeep. If you get a sedan or SUV, just be careful.

Awesome!
This was our first time to Barbados and we were very impressed with not only the island but our accommodations. Maria's house is beautiful with all the amenities you need. The location is ideal with a short walk to Heywoods Beach and Speightstown where they have everything you need. We would definitely return!

Exceeded All Expectations!
Our best vacation ever, this property is in a magnificent location (close to the beach, S'town, and public transportation). Helen, our property manager, was awesome and accessible. The villa was very spacious and located in a peaceful neighborhood. Without any doubts, staying there will be our first option going forward. Many thanks to Maria and Helen--you were simply...Outstanding!

Such a lovely house
From the moment we arrived at Stradbally for our two week stay, we felt at home. We were warmly welcomed by Helen who showed us around the light airy house and a generous welcome pack had been left in the fridge which was very handy. We loved the outside space and were fascinated to see monkeys and exotic birds, including hummingbirds, in the lush garden. We cooked around half our meals easily in the kitchen and ate them outside on the covered terrace. The bedrooms are modern and comfortable, all with their own en-suite, fans and AC as well as plenty of hanging space. The Master bedroom has a balcony perfect for that early morning cuppa or afternoon rum punch. The house really is a short walk from the beach and an easy stroll into Speightstown with its selection of beachfront bars, restaurants and cafes. We felt safe walking back in the evening too. All in all Stradbally suited us perfectly and we look forward to returning there in the near future.

Excellent location being a short walk to beach and into town. Quiet neighbourhood
House stands in an attractive garden . There is a lovely balcony which overlooks the garden and is an ideal place to sit and have evening drinks. The house is spacious although the decor is tired especially the kitchen and the ensuite with the bath in it. The kitchen is well equipped but needs a jolly good clean and clear out. We had a couple of issues with one of the showers not draining well and there was a leak of water through the downstairs ceiling due to a blocked air conditioner . Both issues were sorted out by Helen very quickly and efficiently . When we arrived there was no one there to meet us and we had to wait 20 minutes for Helen to arrive and let us in . It was unwelcoming especially after travelling for more than 12 hours. We were tired and thirsty and needed the bathroom. Heywoods beach is 10 minutes walk away . It has plenty of shade and safe bathing. It is popular with families with young children. Some days we had the beach to ourselves. There is loads of storage space and plenty of towels and hot water.

Amazing Villa
It is a lovely villa in a quite neighbourhood, the communication with the owner are so prompt . The beach is literally at 5 min walk and was the least crowded of all beaches we visited. A very comfy house surrounded by plenty of trees and privacy. Had a great time here.

The property is secluded and in a perfect location. The trees surrounding the property provide a cool breeze with no need for AC on the 1st level. I am looking forward to staying there in 2022.

A home away from home :-)
We had WhatsApp contact with Helen, the villa manager, before arrival and got all of our questions answered. The villa is fantastic with big living room and kitchen with all items you (we) needed. Upstairs are 2 bed rooms with single beds and Master bedroom with king size bed. All bed rooms have A/C and Fan. There were 3 portable Fan's also. Then there was a really big patio with dining table for 6. Many thanks to Maria and Toni to share their home. And many thanks to Helen to manage the villa. We will come back again one day. Kind Regards from Germany Sibylle & Robert

Last minute Trip
My family and I had to visit Barbados for my grandmother’s funeral. They were four adults and one child (age 8) in our party. There was enough space for all of us to not be on top of each other. We loved spending time on the back patio. Maria was great at communicating with me. Helen the property manager was there to meet us when we arrived. This was our second time staying at the villa and we can’t wait to stay again.

Home from Home
The villa is very comfortable and well equipped, everything you need when self catering and a real bonus that all three bedrooms having ensuite facilities. The location of the villa is perfect to walk into Speighstown and enjoy the variety of beachside cafes, bars and restaurants and a short stroll to stunning beaches. Holetown is an easy 10 minutes taxi drive away with good shopping and an abundance of beachside bars and restaurants although during curfew periods not as many were open as usual. We would highly recommend Stradbally and during this Covid pandemic this would be an ideal villa to rent for a longer period for people working from home!

Great holiday in this beautiful villa. The villa is ideally situated close to the beach and the town of Speightstown with its shops, bars and restaurants. It is extremely well furnished with everything we needed. The garden and terrace are lovely with the trees providing shade. We hope to return soon and would not hesitate to recommend a stay here.

The Raymens at Stradbally.
STRADBALLY is a Lovely villa situated in a quiet residential area close to Speightstown and a very efficient bus service to other West Coast towns and beyond. The villa had everything my family needed for a great stay in beautiful Barbados. 3 super bedrooms all ensuite. The master bedroom was particularly good as it has a lovely balcony looking out towards the sea. The local Heywoods beach (10 mins walk) was always quiet and was one of our favourite spots. Speightstown is like stepping back in time on Barbados with lovely painted older looking buildings with restaurants and bars within easy access. Bajans everywhere on the Island were always so friendly and genuinely kind and helpful. A big Thank you also to Maria for her supersonic responses to my many emails prior to our holiday and to Helen and Wendy for their assistance too. We particularly liked snorkeling out from Six Mens (5 mins in a car) where you can swim with the beautiful turtles and marine life. And….. Don’t forget to try the great local rums and the many fish dishes to tantalise your taste buds. Thank you for sharing Stradbally with us.

The Edgell’s stay at Stradbally Barbados
Arrived at Stradbally Barbados to see a beautiful villa with mature gardens of mango and coconut trees. The villa is beautiful inside too, it is spacious and practical with everything you need. It has three big bedrooms two twins and one with a super king looking out to sea with a balcony that you can sit and watch the sun go down on. Each bedroom is en-suite. Walk 10 mins down the road and you will get to Heywoods beach ( our favorite) which is quiet with just a few lovely, friendly locals taking their morning swim together, it also had the best snorkeling. The villa is situated in a quiet residential area. We’ve had the best time and will definitely be back. Thank you

Great home from home with sunshine !
We have had a wonderful stay and our host and property manger couldn’t have been more helpful and professional too. The villa is as described and loved being surrounded with mango tress but we felt the interior could do with a little modernisation, otherwise 5 star. The beach across the road was definitely one of the most beautiful ever visited and you are just 5 mins drive from everything. Speightown is small but has restaurants with good food from Pizza to Lobster often accompanied with live music. Would we stay again , yes as was good value for money. Thank you for sharing your villa.

Wonderful Villa in the perfect location
We had an excellent stay. The Villa is clean, spacious and equipped with everything you may need. It's situated close to Speightown on the West Coast. The location is perfect for a tropical get away with only a few minutes walk to one of the best beaches on the island (Port St Charles). Recommended for couples as well as families. There are a variety of beach bars and restaurants nearby. The owners were fantastic and very accommodating. Highly recommended! Can't wait to go back.

Wonderful house for a family holiday in Barbados
This is actually the second time we have stayed at this wonderful house, this time we were 3 couples, previously a couple of years back it was our family (mixed age groups) on both occasions we have not been disappointed, Maria was super helpful and answered all our questions up front. The space is perfect for people to feel comfortable, and we loved the outside kitchen/dining area, in fact, we spent most evenings sitting here enjoying a beer. We did hire a car, but not really a must have, you can walk into the nearest town or down to the beach, but we found it handy for trips further afield. I have stayed in other areas in Barbados and have to say this area is by far the best, its perfect for beaches, bars and the best restaurants. I plan to return in the next couple of years, hoping this house will still be available :)

Beautiful well-equipped villa, fantastic location
Beautiful villa set in a lush garden that offers serenity. We particularly liked the summer room, which is a great place for an evening meal, or to chill out, as well as the master bedroom which has a fantastic balcony that you can watch the sunset from. The location is lovely, within walking distance of the beach, shops as well as restaurants and bars. It was also very cheap and easy to get the bus if we wanted to explore. The villa was very well equipped, with everything we needed, as well as being very clean and modern. We had great communication from the manager, as well as the owner, and would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Villa, Fantastic stay!
The Villa was just as described, only pleasant surprises! Had everything we needed for a fantastic holiday. Clean and well maintained, the owner was very easy to deal with and arranged our stay perfectly. There is a beautiful range of beaches nearby, lots of beach bars and restaurants. I have four favourites -(New) Hugo's, Fish Pot, Little Bristol Bar and The Orange Street Grocery. All are great!

Great accommodation: terrible HomeAway website
An excellent place to stay and the owner could not have been more helpful. But the HomeAway website is a real trial to use. Why so clunky? Why refuse part of my payment and then - within the hour - urgently demand the balance? Why welcome me to the house when I was not even there, and then hope that I had had a good holiday when the holiday was hardly started? Why make communication with the owner so difficult when her good sense was all that made HomeAway madness bearable?

Tropical serene paradise in a perfect location
We were lucky enough to stay at this beautiful villa, enjoying the tropical gardens, cool breeze, and the gentle short stroll down to the most perfect quiet beach. We did not want to leave at the end of our 2 week stay. The rooms are wonderfully light and airy with all the mod-cons we could want, including great wifi. Our favourite spot was the balcony off the master bedroom where we would watch the beautiful sunsets in the evening, as well as the hummingbirds. The manager (OB) was very helpful if you needed anything or had any questions, and the owners (Maria and Tony) were great at communicating with us. The location is ideal. The villa itself if in a lovely quiet spot, but within a short stroll down to the historical Speightstown, where there are lots of local shops and bars where you can eat, drink or listen to live music. The villa is also a short walk to a main bus station where we enjoyed the reggae bus experience! We have already booked another stay at this villa and can't wait to get get back! It's a hidden gem - our little paradise.

Stradbally Villa has been our family holiday home since 2006, having spent a couple of years living on the Island. We instantly fell in love with Barbados for the relaxed and chilled out lifestyle and perfect escape from the UK winter weather.

Why they chose this property

The Heywood's Park estate is a friendly and quiet community, with a mix of locals and ex-pats. We have a wonderful manager called Helen, she does a great job, looking after our home and welcoming our guests.
We love the charm and character of Speightstown and feel we're in the "real" Barbados".
To view previous guest reviews visit Trip Advisor or contact Maria for details.

What makes this property unique

We love to walk down to the beach first thing in the morning and again just before sunset for a swim in the sea. We live like the locals and enjoy buying local produce from Speightstown and spend our days soaking up the warm weather.
In the evenings we stroll into Speightstown for a beer, there is a good choice of cafes, bars and restaurants in the town, some with live music. If you decide to stay in our home, we can provide a list of recommendations of restaurants/cafes to suit all budgets and places to see, based on our own experiences.
