DREAMCATCHER
Imagine yourself enjoying a leisurely breakfast, on the patio in your private garden. The only sound is birdsong, or the lambs calling to their mum's. Perhaps you prefer to be curled up on the sofa in front of the woodburner, reading a book, whilst a loved one prepares a scrumptious meal on the range style cooker. Or maybe you have the local information leaflets out and are sprawled on the floor, enjoying the underfloor heating as you plan your days out?

However you enjoy your holidays, Webber Hill Farm Cottages has something to offer you. Dreamcatcher is our detached barn conversion on this ancient former farmstead, specially for couples, and up to 4 pets (charge applies). And be assured that, as we do the cleaning ourselves, we take great care to ensure our cottages are clean and fresh, whether or not you come with pets.

Reached down a narrow, unmade farm track we are located 1.5 miles from Okehampton on the outskirts of the village of Sampford Courtenay. Arriving here feels like you are a million miles from the stresses of every day life, yet all the amenities are easily accessible if you want them.

We are almost on the Devon/Cornwall border so it is very easy to reach the north and south coasts, the moors of Dartmoor and Bodmin as well as the many historic houses and National Trust properties, not to mention the gardens (such as RHS Rosemoor) and 40+ nature reserves!

Golfers are well catered for with Ashbury Golf course less than 10 minutes drive from us, and of course Okehampton Golf Club.

If you love cycling we can store your bikes under cover (please bring your own chain and lock). National Cycle Route 27 runs at the top of our track, but if you fancy something less challenging, the Granite Way starts at Okehampton and ends at Lydford, and is one of my favourites, along the edge of Dartmoor but on a good, solid track - my kind of cycling! It is also easy to reach the Camel Trail, Drakes Trail and the Tamar Trails.

For pet owners, your pet will be made very welcome with a bowl of fresh water on arrival, dog biscuit and a pet blanket and paw wiping towel. There are plenty of walks from the door, a favourite being the country lane to Ashbury Forest (about 30 minutes walk to the forest). We also keep a list in the cottage of beaches where your pets can run off the lead throughout the season.

We have welcomed house cats here at Dreamcatcher, so if you would like to discuss bringing a feline(s), please give me a call/email.

Dreamcatcher has one main bedroom with a 6ft superking bed (with topper so you won't feel the zip in the middle!). The bed can split to make two 3ft twins on request. The wardrobe has plenty of hanging space and hangers, as well as the bedside cabinets and dressing table storage space.
On the mezzanine there is a day bed, chest of drawers, bedside cabinet with reading lamp and further hanging space.

The shower room is light and airy with a sloping ceiling. The shower is a power shower with a large enclosure.

In the lounge you have a sofa and a leather armchair, coffee table, TV unit, CD/DVD player, some books and games. And of course the woodburner (first basket of logs free, further logs can be bought from us on an honesty basis).

The kitchen and lounge are open plan so that you can enjoy your separate activities but still feel like you are together.

In the kitchen you will find a range style cooker with gas hob, warming plate and double oven. There is also a microwave. There is a dishwasher, washing machine and undercounter fridge with a small ice compartment (4* freezer compartment for things like frozen peas or .... ice! But not big enough for lots of frozen ready meals).
If you need to know if we provide something specifically, please contact me.

Outside you will find patio furniture, washing line and BBQ.

The garden is fully enclosed and as dog proof as we could make it.

If you wish to enquire about a short break, or to bring your extended pet family with you please contact me for a quote. Thank you.

Beautiful property in a beautiful setting. Nicky provided lots of information about the areas before we arrived which was so useful as we had not been to the area before. The house was perfect and very comfortable with everything we needed in the house.

Tranquility
We stayed at Dreamcatcher for a week over Christmas. The whole process of booking was very easy. We arrived to find an immaculate warm and welcoming property complete with a few tasteful Christmas decorations. The dining table was laid ready for us complete with a bottle of wine and even a Christmas cake. There was also a basket of logs, kindling and fire lighters ready to light the log burner. Everything had been thought of including a list of local dog walks and local dog friendly establishments. The owner, Nicki, was very friendly and helpful even supplying additional feed for the bird feeder which was a joy to watch, we counted 10 different species oh and 2 squirrels. The arrival and departure procedures were very clear and as Covid secure as possible. We had a wonderfully tranquil break and will most definitely be going back. Thank you Nicki for an amazing break.

A hidden jem of a cottage.
This barn conversion was a wonderful find. Located in a small group of lovingly restored farm buildings on a hilltop. The property is well equipped and comfortable . As our stay was during a very wet week it enabled us to thoroughly relax indoors whilst watching the birds queuing up to use the bird feeder in the garden. 5 stars is not enough for this little jem!

Lovely cottage
Nicky made sure we had every thing we needed for our stay and the cottage was spotlessly clean. Its a lovely quiet spot with plenty of birds to watch at the feeder. We even managed to spot a dragon fly at the pond. Lovely super kingsize bed (why dont more cottages have this ??)

Highly recommend
The barn was wonderful and finished to a very high standard. The mezzanine level worked fabulously as a teenage den for my son and the wooden gate at the bottom of the stairs was helpful in keeping the dog to its appointed territories (downstairs). The enclosed front garden was also great giving us and the dog a bit of outside space (it was VERY hot the week we visited) but the sunken garden at the back of the barn was stunning - a thing of beauty to be admired! Nicky was a fabulous host, providing a fan for the upstairs and extra ice-cube trays at a moment's notice (did I mention it was VERY hot?). We loved the location and wished we had longer to explore. In summary, the barn and the location has a lot to offer. Would love to return.

Dog friendly, cosy cottage.
Brilliant place to stay, we loved the fact it was dog friendly, there are not many places you can stay with three dogs let alone be welcomed with open arms. Bed was comfortable, shower was fab, very clean and well equipped with the bonus of Netflix. Lovely location, rural which we love yet very close to shops which was convenient. Overall we had a great time. We will definitely be booking again. Thank you

10/10 would highly recommend!
The cottage was absolutely beautiful, came into the cottage and it was lovely and warm with a cosy atmosphere. Everything was spotless and the decor was lovely. You are provided with towels, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and wood for the fire. We were also treated to some wine and flapjack! The underfloor heating was amazing and there were puzzles and games and dvds to take advantage of during our stay! Also the surrounding area is great for walks and Nikki leaves really helpful instructions on where the best walks are and areas of interest! Highly recommend a stay here as it was a weekend away to remember thanks to this wonderful cottage and it’s beautiful location.

Absolutely fantastic, highly recommended
Dreamcatcher is a beautiful retreat, set in amazing countryside. Nicky made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage still retains its charicter and has everything that you could possibly need. We spent hours watching endless species of birds in the garden. We absolutely loved it Tia our Rottie had some lovely walks., and had her own welcome pack whilst we enjoyed Nickys mums Victoria sponge and the bottle of wine! Can't wait to go back.

Lovely peaceful getaway
Everything you required in a cottage even down to the seeds to replenish the bird feeder. We have stayed for 2 or 3 weeks in UK cottages for the past 10 years and this one has to be among our top three.

Perfect cottage for a relaxing break for two plus dog!
Dreamcatcher Cottage was perfect for a well needed break from the hustle and bustle of work! The location is so peaceful and quiet yet within easy driving access to shops, pubs and fantastic walks. Nicky is a fabulous host - there when needed but otherwise leaves you to enjoy the peace. Nicky also had lots of suggestions of places to visit and where to eat. The cottage was spotless and extremely comfortable in every way. The bed was probably one of the comfiest we have ever slept in - important after a day of walking. The bathroom had a powerful shower and the kitchen had everything you needed. Dreamcatcher has a small enclosed garden - ideal spot for having a cup of tea and a slice of Nicky’s mums homemade cake ( delicious and very welcome) . There are many National Trust properties within easy access with lovely walks and cafes to enjoy but you could easily spend a day at home enjoying the nature and peace and quiet. We hope to visit again!

Wonderful luxury break
We were a little early arriving but Nicky and family made us very welcome. The cottage was absolutely perfect in lovely peaceful surroundings. Inside was welcoming, extremely clean and very comfortable. Superb attention to detail in comfort and decor. Shower was amazing. Huge bed, plenty of storage and everything to hand. Loved the range cooker. Mum's sponge was a delight and the wine went down a treat at dinner. Benson, our labradoodle, was also spoilt with his own mat, water and food bowl with a lovely Bonio. Also a towel for those damp days and a throw in case he felt like clambering on the furniture (not allowed!). We were lucky with the weather but there was a wood burner for the cold days and underfloor heating. Garden at the rear of the cottage with BBQ facilities and table and chairs for outdoor living. This property is a definite home from home with the WOW factor and will be hard to beat. Thanks to Nicky and her family for a lovely stay.

Clean, equipped with everything you could possibly need, deceptively spacious and welcoming
Very peaceful cottage with cake, wine and flowers to welcome us. Pint of milk in the fridge and tea and coffee were really appreciated. Lots of thoughtful touches made us feel at home from the start. We really loved watching the birds and it is a great idea that the owners have of supplying bird food in a tin so we could top up the feeders ourselves. The baa’ing of the lambs and sheep and the birdsong was a real treat!

About the host

Hosted by Nicky Bishop

Host profile image
I am Nicky Bishop and live with my husband in the former farmhouse of which Dreamcatcher is one of the outlying barns. We both have busy careers as well as managing the holiday cottage, but love the balance this brings - it keeps us sane! We have lived in Devon for much of our lives and love being close to Dartmoor and the Devon and Cornwall coasts as we enjoy walking, cycling and kayaking, and basically being out with nature

Why they chose this property

I have always wanted to run holiday cottages and when we first came across Webber Hill it just felt "right". The barns were just calling out to be loved.

When we drove up the driveway and the space of the former farmyard (now the sunken garden) opened up in front of us, it felt really special.

It is so easy to access the A30 to reach all parts of Devon and Cornwall which is great for the activities we enjoy , but it is also far enough from civilisation to feel like you are really away from it all - although not too far to make going back out to get the shopping you forgot a pain!

There is such a range of wildlife here that every time we come home we just breathe a sigh of relief. It really is like coming on holiday even for us!

What makes this property unique

As well as being very central in Devon making it easy to visit the coasts of Devon and Cornwall and moors of Dartmoor, Bodmin and Exmoor, Dreamcatcher is in a beautiful, peaceful location.

We have a visiting spa service available - qualified therapists can help the stresses of everyday life melt away with a range of luxury treatments in the comfort of your holiday home.

We welcome pets and provide food and water bowls, throws, although you may want to bring your own as well, towels and a welcome dog treat. The garden for Dreamcatcher is enclosed and at the front of the property, so dogs can play freely here.

With advance notice we will pet sit for you if you want to go shopping but not take the dog, visit somewhere where dogs aren't allowed, or have a meal in a restaurant. This arrangement is on a bespoke basis depending on the dog's requirements, so do contact us to discuss.

Most of the pubs welcome dogs and our guests are often pleasantly surprised just how dog friendly they are!

The cottage has underfloor heating as well as a woodburning stove, free WiFi throughout, dual fuel range style cooker, superking size bed (or two 3ft singles), double futon on the mezzanine, and a large shower cubicle with power shower. We provide bath and hand towels.

An initial supply of tea and coffee, and a pint of milk, to help you revive, are provided, along with some local goodies.
