Lovely Apartment in North Cyprus
We absolutely loved our holiday in North Cyprus and this apartment could have been perfect for us. Our main problem was the fact that although the description of the apartment categorically states that WiFi was included, we did not have access to WiFi at all throughout our stay in this apartment. As we both work from home this was a problem for us so we needed to book a hotel room urgently in addition to the apartment in order to be able to work for a few hours each day as we had planned. Our telephone signals at the apartment were weak so we could not use our phones from there but we were able to borrow phones from our neighbours to contact the administrators; unfortunately whenever we tried, the numbers we were given were busy. On one occasion we tried for over an hour and then we decided not to bother any more as we did not want to waste any more time on this and make the best of our stay. I managed to communicate successfully with Gary, the administrator in the UK re the WiFi problem and I do believe someone came into the apartment on one of the days to try and repair the internet problem (we noticed that it had been moved from one area of the main room to another), but it still did not work.
It should also be noted that the roof terrace that we were permitted to use was not equipped with any chairs, tables at all; in fact it was jammed shut for the first few days we were there and our key did not open it. On one occasion we did use the one opposite but a Russian family informed us that our flat did not give us access to that roof terrace so we did not use it again.
It was clear to us that this apartment had been empty for a long time prior to our arrival due to the musty smell and several very large beetle type creatures which we found in the bathroom and in the bedroom on arrival. After we gave it a good clean and airing, we eliminated this problem.
This was a lovely apartment, well equipped and just the right size for us; had we known prior to arrival that there was a risk of not having WiFi, we could have brought our own internet dongles and saved ourselves a considerable amount of money. I too rent a flat in Italy on Owners Direct and WiFi is a problem but I make that clear to guests in the description that I give them online and that I send them in the documentation package. It is also important to ensure that if the roof terrace is offered then guests have easy access to it and it is furnished as indicated in the description.
