Enjoyed being able to explore the surrounding areas and then come back to the farm and just chill. Reading, relaxing on the sun beds around the pool and swimming. Enjoyed cooking in the pizza oven and charcoal BBQ. Would have been good to know the watering system came on at around 11pm our washing got quite wet on the first night. It’s hard to find, but worth the effort.
We were a group of 4 (2 adult couples) that stayed in this lovely house in October. We loved being down in the gorge, out of the hustle and bustle of Ronda. As other reviewers have said, the one lane rough roads take a little getting used to, but it's worth it! There's a little parking lot up the hill, right outside of Barrio San Francisco, where we would leave the car and walk the rest of the way into town. One day we left right from the house and hiked all the way up, which is definitely worth doing.
The house is rustic - don't expect top of the line mattresses and furniture, but the property as a whole is just stunning. We loved gathering walnuts, apples and grapes right outside our door. The neighbor brought over peppers and eggplants from his garden which we grilled for dinner one night. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and were even able to jump in this time of year (although it was chilly!) We visited the winery right next door (Bodega Gonzalo Beltran) for an informative and delicious tasting.
This house is a great base for exploring Ronda and beyond!
It's fair to say this place overall far exceeded our expectations! The setting is amazing, hidden away and private: lovely outdoor spaces in which to relax. The grounds are full of birdsong - Golden Oriole, Blackcaps, an occasional Nightingale, etc. There are mature fruit trees laden with fruit. Pool area is beautifully maintained - we spent many lazy afternoons there + lovely views of the Ronda cliffs from here. House lovely and cool inside thanks to thick walls. Rooms large and tastefully furnished. Kitchen generally well-appointed.
This oasis of peace and tranquillity takes some getting to though (!): access road extremely narrow, steep and bumpy. An under-powered hire car might struggle! & Google Maps seems to prefer to choose an even more 'adventurous' route by default (via north of town) - we learned to navigate to Castillo del Laurel first to then approach via the C. del Prado... this is tarmaced/paved most of the way & includes great views of the Puente Neuvo. A real wrench for us to leave this house - could happily have stayed another week! A few v minor things to note: only a fairly small 4-ring gas hob, no oven or microwave & no washing machine. Shower head above bath is quite low - bit challenging if you're 6ft-plus. Wet room very basic. We didn't use it as was being used to store old sun loungers and pool stuff (we never got round to asking the very helpful and friendly Luis to remove them!). All in all though, a wonderful week in a fantastic place.
Preciosa finca rústica, todo muy arreglado, mejor incluso que en las fotos. Pasamos una estancia muy agradable en familia. Nos gustaría repetir en el futuro algo más de tiempo.
We loved this house. We arrived in a heat wave and we’re worried it might be too hot, but the thick walls made it beautifully cool.
The house is much nicer than the pictures, and the pool is beautiful.
There isn’t an oven in the kitchen, just an outdoor pizza oven, which wasn’t a problem but worth knowing. The road down to the house is steep, narrow and twisty. We got used to it quickly, but it might be a challenge if you are arriving in the dark.
Overall we had a nice stay here. The house is secluded with a lovely view of the cliffs of Ronda above and has a large private yard with trampoline and pool that was perfect for our 4 kids, infant-8 years. The kitchen was outfitted with everything we needed but a coffee machine and microwave would have made things a bit easier. There was plenty of space for our family, rooms are large. Luis was very helpful in acquiring a crib for us and helping with wifi connection. We had spotty wifi throughout our stay, however this was an unexpected benefit for our family and gave us a break from the internet.
This was our second visit to Ronda and we were so fortunate to find this beautiful house.
The location is perfect at the bottom of the Tajo valley so stunning views of Ronda and the cliffs- the sun on the stone in the evening is incredible.
We were a party of six adults- me,my husband , three of our sons and my eldest son’s partner. We all enjoy walking, exploring new areas and finding out about the history of the area. We all walked- some ran!- up to Ronda and back every day, sometimes stopping for a coffee before heading down the hill home.
We visited Cordoba and Seville and a lovely wee town called Osuna and had thought to visit Granada but decided to just enjoy another day by the pool.
The finca is very tastefully set up with everything you need including an outside wood fired oven which got the young men enthusiastic over the cooking.
The pool is large and set in a lovely area of the grounds surrounded by oleanders, walnut and palm trees. It is beautifully maintained by Luis who lives locally.
All in all we found it difficult to leave and there is already talk of a return visit!
The finca and its extensive grounds magically reveal it's treasures under the canopy trees providing cooling shade from the Ronda sun.
Above the treeline the vistas of Ronda town nestling on the cliff tops enforces the feeling of an exclusive oasis nestled away from the medieval charms and appeal of the city above.
As a mixed group of 5 - 2 couples, 1 couple with a 10 year old we found all the facilities at the finca lived up to all our expectations and requirements for a relaxing and memorable holiday.
We can't wait it to go back!!

Lovely house in great location
We've just come back from a lovely holiday at the Finca la Nogaleda. The house is beautifully situated in the Tajo valley just below the main Tajo gorge which runs through Ronda. It's so relaxing that we spent most days at the house - reading on the shaded cobbled veranda, lying by the pool, and cooking using the excellent wood burning pizza stove. It's very hot at this time of year in this part of Spain but the house remained cool inside and we could always cool ourselves down by going for quick dip in the pool.
We spent a day in Ronda wandering around the old town ( including the three bridges - Roman, Arab and New - and the Arab baths), enjoying the views down from the New bridge to the gorge, looking across the Tajo valley from the esplanade (including down to Finca la Nogaleda), and trying to get in (but leaving it too late) to see the bull ring which is one of the oldest in Spain, and spotting the various places in Ronda where the 1984 Francesco Rosi film of Carmen was filmed.
We also walked up to Ronda on a number of evenings (when it was cooler) and enjoyed tapas at the Bodega San Francisco. The walk up is quite steep and takes about 25 minutes but certainly prepared us for the beer, Ronda wine and very good (and cheap) tapas.
The house has been beautifully restored, has lovely furniture and is very comfortable. The gardens are magnificent with lots of fruit trees and nicely laid out and tended lawns. A neighbour, Luis, comes in every day to ensure the gardens are watered and the pool is maintained.
The biggest challenge we had was finding La Finca. Our flight had arrived around midnight in Seville and it was about 2.30am by the time we got to Ronda. The steep road down to La Finca from the San Francisco Barrio was quite difficult to find and went down a long way before we got to La Finca. When we got there, it was perfect (including a fridge which had been well stocked by Luis) but we would advise anybody else who is going to be very clear in advance about how to get to the house from Ronda (we were provided with instructions but we should have looked it up on Google maps and been absolutely clear where the house was located)..
Overall though this is the perfect property in a perfect location and gave us a wonderful break.

Hidden Gem
This beautiful farmhouse combines traditional Spanish with superb design and artistic detail. Hidden away in the secluded valley running below the gorge at lovely Ronda, the views are spectacular up to the town. The house is cool and airy and the garden and terrace lovely. All we could hear was bird song and the river. Maria gave us the warmest welcome imaginable and the tapas bar and restaurant she recommended in Ronda old town were well worth a visit. We have holidayed at many cottages and houses around the world and heartily recommend this lovely hidden gem of a house.
