The house was completely renovated and the adjoining cowshed converted to a luxurious standard using traditional materials in 2010-11. A family group of 8 adults we had a lovely week in Lucy’s house . Plenty of space for 8 adults but no loss of a cosy feel and the house is very well equipped. The location and views are superb . Plenty of local walks to enjoy , and not too far from other attractions and good eateries . We would recommend a tour of the local mines . Although we didn’t meet Lucy she was a great host , communicated well and answering any questions promptly , and had left lots of useful local information in the house to make our holiday more enjoyable . We hope to be back .
I booked the cottage as the 5 of us enjoy hiking in the moutains and were looking at properties that could accommodate us around the Brecon Beacons. Can't believe how lucky we were to find this farmhouse, none of us have ever stayed anywhere like it, it had everything you could want or need, in an idyllic location. The quality of everything there and the attention to detail, made it feel luxurious, whilst being a home from home. The owner was so super helpful, not only recommending walks and places to visit but was so responsive, couldn't have asked for more. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and if you're looking for somewhere to get away from it all, with amazing walks what ever you ability or just a few days chiiling in a farmhouse that you don't need to leave, you couldn't find anywhere better.
This stellar rental elevated our Wales experience immeasurably. The farmhouse has been lovingly and expertly remodeled offer plenty of modern conveniences while maintaining the history of the building. Very spacious layout offered our family (two older teens) lots of space and options for gathering -- around the fire in the sitting room, in the large eat-in kitchen, or on the terrace.
The kitchen and baths were all very well equipped -- both baths have soaking tubs and the master has a large walk in shower -- which was great after long hikes in the area.
Coming from a more urban area, the star gazing was amazing. With skylights in the master bedroom, one could gaze at the literally all night!
The host provided a welcome basket which was a life saver for us as our travel plans had us arriving very late and as it is a very remote location, getting to a store required a bit of a drive.
We enjoyed immersing ourselves in central Wales and would HIGHLY recommend booking this lovely retreat should you be in the area.
While the photos of the property are all lovely, they really can't fully represent the property. It is unique, lovely, and offers something for everyone! You will NOT be disappointed.
What an amazing retreat in Wales. The house looked amazing online but was even more amazing in real life. Clean, neat and beautifully decorated. The welcome basket spoke volumes about the owners and their wanting to ensure we were well looked after. Having those extra condiments like spices and oils also made things so much easier. The fire place was a treat second to none with plenty of wood. We didn't need anything additional as the house is well equipped with everything. And the owners were a delight to deal with and prompt in their responses. The area is beautiful with plenty of beautiful walks. It's remote and hence utterly peaceful. We will definitely be returning!! Thank you!
We had the most relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable stay at Lucy’s property. The location of the cottage is perfect for tranquil walks amongst the valleys, visits to local pubs serving delicious food and exploring the local area. The only noise you can hear is the sheep, which we loved!
The cottage is modern yet traditional and super clean with everything in it you could possibly need/want!
Lucy is the best hostess, providing us with all the information and beyond and very quick at responding to any questions!
The kids ageing from 4-15 had a fantastic time and no screens in sight!
We made use of the BBQ/ trampoline/ hammock/ table tennis/ open fire/ games….
We will definitely be back again at some point!
We had a fantastic week away with friends. It was so beautiful and peaceful. The kids really enjoyed the play barn and trampoline! Having the different benches around the garden to sit quietly and take in the amazing views was great. The beds were really comfortable. We slept well. The house was well equipped. We would definitely return!
They’ve really done this place up nicely and it feels like you’re in a lovely home. Communication from the hosts was first class and the area great to explore. Can’t fault it and would definitely recommend to family and friends.
The house is beautifully restored and has everything you could possibly need. The grounds are very thoughtfully designed, with seating in all the right places to enjoy the magnificent views. We'll be back!
The farmhouse was perfect for a long family weekend away. The pictures don’t do either the well-equipped, comfortable and characterful property or tranquil and beautiful location justice - can’t recommend this highly enough and hope to come back.
Lovely, peaceful location. Superbly appointed, family-friendly and homely farmhouse.
Troedrhiwgelynen was the ideal place to get away from the crowds and forget everything but nature. The house was beautifully and thoughtfully equipped for an extremely comfortable and entertaining stay, and with lovely family touches. The walks from the doorstep, were full of variety; woods, waterfalls, high moorland and rivers, and a day trip to the coast was a nice contrast. When necessary, our hosts were immediately helpful. Definitely to be recommended, with plenty left to do for a retun visit!
What a gorgeous home in a beautiful valley! Birdwatching from the jacuzzi bath after a long walk 💚 The kitchen is really well equipped so cooking was easy and very sociable. And the endless supply of logs was a great change from the usual measly offerings!
As other reviewers have said, this home definitely exceeds expectations - thanks for a super holiday
Often the magic of the internet and photography leads to disappointment on arrival but in the case of the old farmhouse, Troedrhiwgelynen it was the exact opposite.
For a fantastic weekend away or like us a retreat in the midst of a hectic touring holiday it was perfect.
A truly amazing experience of understated luxury in an authentic welsh farmhouse with room to relax in idyllic and serene surrounds. There is lost to do close by or on any number of day trips to surrounding areas. We hope to pass this way again and thankyou to Lucy and Michael for letting others enjoy such a gem.

The beautiful farmhouse was everything we could have asked for. A great house in a peaceful location
We had a wonderful stay at Rhandirmwyn. The farmhouse had been lovingly restored to a very high standard with everything we needed. There was also a welcome pack included which was a very pleasant surprise after our rather long journey. It was easy to get to several places once there including the National Botanic Gardens, Dolaucothi Gold Mines and the N T property near Aberaeron. There are extraordinary views from the house which is set in a very peaceful location. We also went for a couple of local walks including a walk around part of the local reservoir which again was spectacular. The local pubs were very hospitable and served good food.it was the perfect place to get
a way from everything. If we
holiday in Mid Wales again or just feel the need to 'Get away' we'd definitely want to return to this house: it was
so peaceful and relaxing.

It was lovely
We had a brilliant 3 days. The cottage is located in a lovely location in the middle of silent and beautiful area. It’s easy for daily walk around.
The cottage itself was beautiful and clean with almost everything we needed. The phone are not working in the cottage but you have access to phone and WiFi with good internet speed.
We really enjoyed there and was very good 3 days escape to nature.

An amazing place to stay
We have stayed at many cottages over the years but this has to be our favourite! The house / barn was very clean, beautifully presented with lots of space for 8 people. The attention to detail was incredible - the only missing item was a hairdryer, which was immediately ordered by the owners. It had a games room that kept the children entertained - and the kitchen was superb for cooking Christmas Dinner in! It is set in incredibly beautiful countryside, with lots of walking and biking possibilities and great for nature lovers. There are two pubs locally, which offer great drinks and food. We got to know the locals which made our stay even more special. I cannot recommend this accommodation enough - and with the underfloor heating, Jacuzzi baths, wet rooms and massive sleigh beds, superbly equipped and large kitchen I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Not a bad word to say - amazing house in truly beautiful surroundings
Myself and three others stayed here for the bank holiday weekend ( 2 nights) as a country escape from the hustle and bustle of London. The property is wonderful managing to be both rustic (retaining many original features) whilst being finished to a very high standard and inc many modern quality appliances. The surrounding area is truly beautiful with great traditional country pubs in both directions from the house. The near by Dinas Bird reserve walk is great and is one that the owners recommend - really is not to be missed. Also, the walk up around the back of the house and up into the woods rewards you with breathtaking views over the valley and is definitely worth the trek.
If you're thinking of booking but are undecided.........I can guarantee you will not regret staying here. We are already trying to plan our next visit!

Absolutely Wonderful Stay!
We've recently returned from a wonderful stay at this property and as a group of 7 adults we cannot rate it highly enough! The owners have achieved a wonderful mix of 'farmhouse charm' and 'modern living' which we know can be difficult to master.
Based close to the Brecon Beacons National Park we enjoyed many walks in the area and retreating to the wonderful open plan kitchen/diner for meals all together. The woodburner fire provides a wonderful center-piece to gather round in the evening and we really do hope to return again soon!
P.s. all of the bedrooms are fabulous with exposed beams and comfy beds!

Great family setting in out of the way location
An amazing property great refurbishment with all the mod cons with underfloor heating a lovely toe warming joy. Lovely walks from the door, two great pubs a beer earning walk away. Great to visit the Dam, the local nature reserve and the local gold mine. Lovely to sit on the bench at the top of the garden with a cup of tea watching the wildlife and surrounding hills. Great place for a family holiday.

Fabulous luxury in a stunning location
Visited with friends - what a total treat to stay in this beautifully renovated cottage. We hadn't visited the area before and were blown away by the tranquility and beauty of the valley. The cottage is fantastically appointed - beautifully decorated and we didn't want for anything during our stay. The perfect combination of total seclusion, peace and luxury! We will definitely all be returning.

leave the 21st century behind
As a proud Welshman I have stayed and visited most places in Wales however the Towi Valley is without doubt the prettiest in Wales. The walking is fantastic, you have a choice of hill, mountain, riverside even along the beautiful lanes virtually traffic free. There is an abundance of history and vistas which take your breath away , friendly pubs and locals.
The crowning glory is troedrhiwgelycen, a handsome house which is so beautifully restored, it's charm is overwhelming. As a large family it has been so comfortable and a real home from home as it is so well equipped. The outside space is fantasticfor exexploring whether young or old, the valley and home as made a greatIimpression and I will definately be back oneday.
