Beautiful House and location
I couldn't have wished for a better place to spend my week's holiday with my family. Everything was perfect. Large and clean house, lovely view, sea near by, beautiful garden, and wonderful hosts. Thank you, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Nettlestone House as a must. Isaac and Noah enjoyed the company of Nathaniel.

Multi-generational family hols
Had a lovely weeks stay in this characterful accommodation. Lovely eclectic decor. Larger than it appears in photos. Plenty big enough for our group of 6 adults (one who is 6ft 8) and 4 children (ages from 3-9). Downstairs bedroom a bonus for the grandparents.

A fabulous holiday!
We've just had a fabulous holiday at Nettlestone House. We were five adults and three children and there was masses of space. There are two sitting rooms (not mentioned) and we cooked all our meals in a well-equipped kitchen which we ate in the dining-room overlooking the garden which is absolutely beautiful! The children loved the trampoline and the garden was safely enclosed for the 2 year old. We were very impressed with the range of books, the furnishings, and artwork in the house. We went to the Seaview, Seagrove and most of all,Priory Beach which was outstanding. Thank you, Angela and David, for being such friendly and helpful hosts.

Lovely house in great location
We had a lovely stay at Nettlestone House and the house is bigger than looks in the pictures and all the bedrooms are spacious. We were 2 families with 6 children ranging from 8-15 years old and there was plenty of room. We would definitely stay again!

Beautiful property near beautiful beaches
We had a wonderful time at Nettlestone and the property was the perfect size for our very large family. It is conveniently located near some beautiful beaches with lots to do nearby for the kids. The house was very well equipped and decorated in a very charming and original style. The children loved exploring the large garden and playing hide and seek in the house. Angela and David were the perfect hosts-extremely friendly and helpful, and always on hand if we had any questions. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Fantastic holiday on the IoW
For our first summer holiday in the UK for 17 years we couldn't have picked a better house or location. Just minutes from the Fishbourne ferry in a lovely little village this house was just perfect for two families getting away from it all. With the youngest of us nearly 18 and the rest all adults, there was plenty of space for us all to spread out inc 2 lounges, but also a brilliantly large dining room for board games in the evening. The house was very clean and very well equipped. The garden was an absolute sun trap with beautiful palm trees and plants. The weather was great so we spent a lot of time there and it was a great spot for evening bbqs. The Isle of Wight distillery / bar / restaurant is just a 10 min walk (up a small hill but everywhere has hills on IoW) and serves food and drink in a socially distanced way. The house is also a short walk from some lovely beaches. Shanklin, Sandown, Newport all within 20 mins. In these strange times this home allowed us to have a wonderfully relaxing break, spend our money in the UK and catch up with ourselves. We will be back. Thanks David and Angela for looking after us.

Great holiday house
2 families with 6 children stayed for a week in this house and had a great holiday. We ended up driving to the beach as it’s a bit of a walk with all of the picnic, paddle board, buckets and spades etc but v easy. Lots of bedrooms and space upstairs. Not enough room to eat at kitchen table so had to use dining room Which was a little formal and no sitting room Space to accommodate everyone but otherwise house was great. Mattress’ could do with updating as lots of protruding springs but didn’t deter from a great holiday. Lovely owners who looked after us and happy to answer any questions as they live onsite.

Peaceful Home
We had a lovely week in Nettlestone. David was on hand but left us in peace to enjoy our holiday. He gave us handy tips to nearby pubs and the very nearby beach. The house is very large and comfortable with well proportioned rooms with thick walls which afforded privacy for the couples staying. We all enjoyed the lovely kitchen and the other communal rooms, particularly the light filled dining room. For those worried about the house being on a road, it was pretty quiet. The garden is delightful and got the sun most of the day. There was a surprisingly useful little shop about a minute’s walk away which stocked a good variety of popular products and was very good value. I’m coming back to the Isle of Wight - absolutely loved the place and the house was a very comfortable base from which to explore. If we’d had bad weather - which we didn’t - the house would have been a welcome refuge.

Family holiday
This was a lovely house and spacious for six adults and four young children. Location was ideal for walking to local beach at Seaview where the children enjoyed beach combing. House had a nice secluded rear garden which we did not make the most of as the weather was so good , we were out visiting other beaches and attractions each day. Local shop was very good and the community shop in Seaview was well worth a visit. Would not hesitate to go back to this property.

An fantastic place to stay
7 people over 3 generations stayed here for a week and we had a great time. David and Angela were so helpful and full of good suggestions of what to do and where to go. The house is beautiful and big enough that you don’t feel like you’re living in each other’s pockets. The garden proved a big hit with my 2 children who loved running around, searching for bugs and playing hide and seek. We will definitely be looking to come back again and visit.

Spacious and comfortable
We had a very enjoyable week here and Angela and David were very welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. When we needed some extra cooking equipment they provided it straight away and nothing felt too much trouble. Would highly recommend for family get together celebration which was our reason for going. Also plenty of activities for all the family on the Isle of Wight.

Sacious and ideal for extended family
Overall our stay was brilliant. The house was spacious and offered excellent accomodation for different generations of our family. Lots of DVDs and toy room kept younger generation occupied in down time. The weather was excellent throughout and IoW itself was as always wonderful. The slight downsides were that the outer ring of one burner on the hob wasn't working and the fridge appeared to be freezing food. This would not have been an issue other than I like to cook for my family whilst away.

Seaview week
It was a superbly situated property for our purposes. Despite there being ten people in our party, we found the property spacious inside and out. Our five year old twin girls loved their room and the playroom next to it. They also enjoyed the garden. The kitchen was a great size as was the dining room. The bedrooms and bathrooms were excellently appointed. And there were at least three bookcases stuffed with books of all kinds. We had a glorious week of weather and always the thought that we had this wonderful place to come back to.

Nettlestone House
The perfect house for a family holiday. The house furnishings were beautiful and everything was immaculately clean. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment & everything in perfect working order. Angela and David were the best of hosts, sorting out any little problems instantly and giving lots of helpful advice about the area. Although we were 7 adults together with 4 small children the house never seemed crowded and the children just loved having their own playroom!

Spacious house, lovely garden, good walk to a lovely uncommercial beach.
We had plenty of room in the house for 10 of us--6 adults and 4 children under 5. The Owners were very friendly, helpful and welcoming --even though they had a 5 week old baby! Apart from 1 day we had excellent weather--we spent every morning on Seagrove Beach and the afternoons in the house and garden. Then in the early evenings we found different paths to walk to Seaview village and did crabbing and had a drink at the Old Fort or the Seaview Hotel. It was a great success --we were very happy and very comfortable at Nettlestone House!

Lovely house, well located
My company hired this house out for our team retreat. The house was lovely and spacious with plenty of room for us to make ourselves at home as well as get some work done. The location is excellent, not far from the ferry, the seafront, and a number of nice restaurants. The owners are lovely and very helpful. Overall we had a great time, and would absolutely recommend.

Perfect for a big family
We stayed for a mid-term break with David and Angela in this lovely Victorian house. Every bedroom has its own decorative theme and there's loads of space including a family room that will accommodate about 10 people. Books all over the place including a good range for children, lots of CDs and games to amuse when the weather is bad. As it happens we had really good warm, sunny and dry days so spent most of our time exploring on foot and eating out. This corner of the Island is less obviously touristy than Sandown, Shanklin or Ryde, but the beach at Seaview (about 15 minutes on foot) is great and stretches to Bembridge. Everything just so - nice!

Lovely House
We stayed for a week over Easter with my family, my brother's family and my Mum and it suited us very well. The house was clean and well set out with a nice garden the kids loved. We were very lucky with the weather and had a wonderful time in the Isle of Wight. If I had to criticize I would say it would have been nice if the house was a bit warmer, it had obviously been empty previously and it took a good few days to feel properly warm. Also it could have been better equipped with glasses, only five glasses for 10 people? Overall we had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, Thanks

Lovely family holiday at Nettlestone House
As grandparents the most important factors for our whole family which includes our 2 children, their spouses and our 4 grandchildren is to be comfortable and happy with their new accommodation for the week. Nettlestone House admirably achieved these requirements and the many, well equipped rooms served to provide the different spaces to meet the needs of the generations. From children's games & play rooms to the quiet lounge for the adults. Being able to feed the kids for most meals easily in the kitchen, as well as the whole family in the dining room for the special celebration worked well. The weather was kind and allowed the younger ones to play in the garden most days as well as many varied day visit opportunities on locations on the IOW provided everyone with exciting activities. Thank you for a comfortable week's stay on the Isle of Wight, it was enjoyed by all of us........William & Susan Barnes

Fantastic property
Lovely property - easily accommodated our party of 9 from very little ones to grandma. Loads of space inside - including a playroom on the first floor (not pictured), lots of books and games to play. Brilliant house for hide and seek too :) The triple room is on the ground floor which was a real bonus as we had a wheelchair user in our group. Owners were very welcoming and extremely helpful. Brilliant location on the Isle of Wight as nothing was very far away: beaches, Robin Hill, Osborne House, Steam trains ...... Will definitely come back and recommend to friends.

About the host

Host profile image
My husband and I are university lecturers. I came from China originally and fell in love with Isle of Wight when I first visited here in 2005.
We started doing holiday lettings 12 years ago. In 2017, our son was born and we needed more space for him to play during the Covid lockdown, so we stopped holiday letting for the last two years. We are still receiving messages from our previous guests for bookings., so we decided to come back to the market again in 2023.

Why they chose this property

Good location - in a quiet historic village
Walking distance to the seafront, and two beautiful beaches.
Close to Ferry, town centre.

What makes this property unique

Convenient for walking in the woods or, along the coastal path, or just relaxing on the beach.
There's a lot of space both in the house and outside in the garden.
We have two patios with BBQ and garden furniture for enjoying family time.
The large dining room overlooks the garden, with access through wide patio doors.

Friendly owners ...... we are happy to help with whatever you may need, places to visit, beaches and activity parks for the kids, countryside walks, local shops, historic castles and palaces, and the best restaurants if you want to eat out.
