Beautiful view on the edge of the village and countryside
Nice view over the bay of Rosscarbery.
The host Margaret made us feel welcome and even baked us an apple pie when it was really bad weather.
The house had everything we needed and is situated in a beautiful part of west Cork.
Stayed here July/August 2019. Margaret was a brilliant hostess. House is very spacious and there was more than enough room to move my daughter around the property (she is a wheelchair user). Unfortunately she got ill on arrival and we spent our first week in Dublin’s Temple St Children’s hospital. Margaret was in constant contact with us and showed genuine concern. On our return nothing was too much for Margaret and she even greeted us with a deliscous home baked apple pie. The location is stunning. My wife commented one evening that the view was one “you could never get bored of looking at”. Margaret was very kind and refused to charge us for the electric and heating we had used in the second week. All in all not the trip we planned but can’t fault the property or the hostess. If you want to relax and see West Cork then this is the holiday home for you. Thank you for your hospitality Margaret x
We had a really lovely time. It was very spacious and had everything we needed . Within walking distance to the square in Rosscarbery and on the doorstep of smugglers cove. I'd definitely recommend it for families.
Margaret presented a homely house in perfect order with wonderful views out to Gally Head. The kitchen was very well appointed with everything you could need and a patio area to the front of the house made entertaining very pleasant. Adjacent to Smugglers Cove activity centre and very close to the centre of thebeautiful village of Roscarberry will lots of activities for all the family, the location is perfect, although the hill is steep, hence the views. The wonderful Warren beach nearby was perfect and the pier for a splash when the tide was high. Lots of good food available locally and a warm welcome everywhere we went made this a holiday to remember. Thankfully the weather was wonderful but when it got cooler there was heat and washer and tumble dryer making life very easy after swims. Thanks Margaret and James for a lovely stay.
Margaret was a lovely and very helpful host also her husband James was very informative look forward to visiting Ross next year with the red off my family
This holiday home is not all that it seems in the advert. After a 4 hour 30 minute car journey with a 6 year old and a 5 month old we arrived at the house, not as much as a drop of milk to make a cup of tea was available in the dirty, cobweb ridden house. Pieces of food from previous guests was found stuck to chairs, tables, worktops and the sink, the draining board had a scum on the surface and the childs high chair was sticky to touch and caked in old food. Under the sofas in the living room among the dead flies and dust there was a broken christmas bauble and a yellow container from a kinder egg (not very safe when a baby is about). This however was not the worst, on departure we were confronted with a 10 euro electric bill (in the middle of summer and not being in the house from 9am to 6pm every day) for our 6 day stay. As I was getting the money the owner then challenged us about the heating oil, we said we used the heating as we needed hot water to wash the dishes after our breakfast etc, she then 'checked' the meter and claimed we owed 25 euro for heating and said it was 60 cent per litre which means she claimed we used approx 41 litres in the 6 days we were there (6.8 litres per day), I queried this and she then 'rechecked' the meter, then said 'Oh, I think its only 15 euro' a drop of 10 euro in the space of 2 minutes, this was still disgustingly high and extortionate. The adverts also make NO mention of being charged for heating. We left with a feeling of being robbed and shaken down for every last cent, avoid this house at all costs.
Lovely stay in rosscarbery. The house was perfect for kids. Right beside the pirate golf and Maze which my 5 year old loved. My 11 month old crawler loved having the freedom to explore a bungalow. Location is a great base to explore west cork
Just back from our stay in Rosscarbery.Very comfortable well equipped house. Excellent location.Really quiet and relaxing. Lovely views from the patio.Would definitely recommend this house as a base to explore the surrounding areas .
We have just had a superb break,at An RADHARC ALAINN,(beautiful view),
the best in South West Cork.
Very comfortable,double glazed,private and spacious.
Thank you Margaret and James, for sharing your property, and making our Irish experience a success.
Nothing was too much trouble.
We arrived very late as the early Fast Ferry,Holyhead to Dublin, had been cancelled,Margaret left some lovely welcome sandwiches in the fridge, which we devoured with a great cup of Barry's Tea.
Margaret came down to the village at 11.30pm,as we did not have sat nav.and led us back to the house.(outstandingly kind.
The location,is second to none,a brilliant base for touring South West Cork, and only 3 minutes away from the village of Rosscarberry.
We will be returning.
Kindest regards,
Jonathan and Allison.
Loved the house, location and view. Margaret and James were very gracious, helpful and gave great site seeing advice. Beds very firm. Good WiFi. Had to figure out how to use oven and washing machine :) Washer and dryer small for four people - hung clothes on drying rack. Easy walking distance to local village. Cozy house with amazing sunrise view. Overall, great experience.

The name sums it up
The Lovely View, that's what An Radharc Alainn means in English and the house lives up to it. Lovely light hardwood floors throughout the house and a mix of modern and more rustic furniture. The view of Rosscarbery is stunning, especially at night as you can see the lights reflected on the water. If you're wanting to stay with kids, there's a minigolf course that's right next to it.
The airflow in the house is good so it was able to stay a very pleasant temperature even when it got into the 20s outside by just opening windows.
There are things you should know if you're booking this. 1) You will not be super close to a big city or attraction. Instead you're near a cute little square and the lovely town of Clonakilty and also pleasant Skibereen(although I prefer Clonakilty. 2)There is a working farm so at times there can be the smell from it. I didn't notice it too often but there were times we could see cows from the living room.
I stayed part of the time with my brother and when we called about issues they were addressed fairly rapidly. We were given directions and some food was left for us when we got there, which proved a godsend for the next day as we were both wiped out from being up over 24 hrs. When we got there she explained how to turn on the heating, how the hot water worked, and showed us where everything in the home was.
So boils down to, if you're looking for a beautiful home and a lovely slow time, this place is great. It's slow and the worst you'll hear is the laughter of kids and parents playing minigolf.
Oh and the tub was such I could lay down comfortably in it and not have to scrunch to fit, and I'm 6'! So that's lovely.

Great location to stay for a family holiday...
First I would like to take this opportunity to thank Margaret for her fantastic hospitality.
The first thing we noticed was that amazing view, just wow. Outstanding sea views and a great location for exploring the beautiful Cork coastline.
Roscarbery is a lovely little town with a well stocked local shop and great pubs and restaurants. Ronan's bar was our favourite for the hospitality and the food.
The colourful Clonakilty is just a short drive away and has supermarkets, shops and restaurants in abundance.
The coast is just amazing each corner is a new opportunity for exploration and for making memories.
The property is more than adequate for the price we paid to stay for a week. It has all the modern appliances required for a self catering holiday. The only criticism I have is that some of the furnishings may be a little tired but I feel that is reflected in the pricing and did not affect our overall stay in any way.
Overall our stay here was wonderful and I would definitely return with my family. Thank you

nice house, good location, suited for family of up to 5 people
we enjoyed our stay, the weather was ok. Rosscarbery is a good location to discover the south west of Ireland between Cork and the Ring of Kerry. the place is very quiet and offers a nice view of the bay. Clonakilty is about 20 min driving distance. Pretty good restaurant in Rosscarbery too (i.e Market House). Car is a must to discover the area. No facilities for bikers (roads are pretty dangerous for bikers).

Gorgeous View
The bungalow was elevated above Rosscarbery bay with beautiful views of the sea from the picture windows.
The house was close to Rosscarbery town which has a charming square with pubs, restaurants and shops.
Inside the house was as described, simple, fairly traditional furnishings and bathroom but comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and we made use of the wood burning stove to warm the room. Overall we enjoyed our stay and marvelled at the amazing views and skies on our daily walks by the sea.
