12 Oakridge is one of 20 properties located on a private estate set in 40 acres of unspoilt countryside which borders the famous St Mellion Estate in Cornwall, voted 20th in the Golf World Top 100 Best Golf Resorts in Great Britain and Ireland (2023).

As well as providing access to the golf & leisure facilities at St Mellion Estate (see further details below), the lodge provides a great base for exploring the wonderful countryside, beaches and numerous tourist attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.

Lodge rental includes 2No* golf passes which permit two people FREE use of the two championship golf courses, plus 2No leisure passes which permit two people FREE use the leisure facilities at St Mellion Estate.
* NB: additional golfers are entitled to a Member Guest rate of circa 40 - 50% off the standard green fee rate (different rates apply depending on time / day / week / month).

GOLF
St Mellion is renowned as one of England’s finest golf venues, boasting two championship courses which ensures it is a regular in the top UK course rankings.

SIGNATURE COURSE
Opened in 1988, the Jack Nicklaus design 'Signature' course was the Golden Bear's first project in the UK - the course opened to rave reviews with Nicklaus himself being quoted “I knew it was going to be good, but not this good..... it’s everything I hoped for and more”
The course measures 7,019 yds from the championship tees and provides a thorough examination, but there are tees to suit golfers of all abilities. The course blends into the landscape and the design places a premium on finding the correct position from the elevated tees in order to attack the flags. Inaccuracy will be punished severely by the strategically positioned bunkers and water hazards or the rough. The Signature course can boast hosting various prestigious events including the B & H International Open, English Amateur Championship, English Seniors Open & PGA European Tour's English Open and was the scene of some classic battles between the great golfers of the ‘80s & ‘90s. Past winners of St Mellion tournaments include Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Bernhard Langer & Jose Maria Olazabal.

KERNOW COURSE
Opened in 1976 and formerly known as the Old Course, the Kernow offers a fine championship layout in its own right which hosted various prestigious events prior to the arrival of the Signature course, including the B&H International Open & the Tournament Players Championship.
Although it is not particularly long by modern standards measuring 5,782 yards, there is no shortage of challenge and intrigue following a major face-lift in 2008 which saw the addition of new lakes and bunkers, plus some totally rebuilt putting surfaces.
This has seen the Kernow develop into a very popular golf course with members & visitors alike - the relatively wide fairways & large greens means the course provides a perfect foil for the Nicklaus Course which has gained a popular following. In a recent survey it was included in the Top 5 "2nd Courses" in the UK’s best 36-hole golf courses.

LEISURE
The two leisure passes provide 2 adult & 2 child (up to 12 years old) memberships which offer free access to the following facilities....

• 25 metre competition pool with lane ropes + large leisure pool + baby pool (32 deg C) for the under 5's
• Spa pool (jacuzzi) & sauna (both newly refurbished Dec 2021) plus steam room
• Gym (refurbished 2020) complete with state-of-the-art matrix cardiovascular & resistance machines including treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, steppers, upright and reclining bikes - all fitness machines are equipped with Virtual Active video-based cardio workout programmes and iPod connection points. There is also a functional fitness zone with TRX, Kettlebells and BOSU balance balls.

Honestly if you are looking for a great place to stay and relax with friends this is the place, the surroundings are beautiful and the house is so welcoming. We visit yearly and are looking forward to our break next year!!!

Worth a Visit
There was everything you needed in the Lodge, with 3 children we cooked quite a bit, and it was home from home. The surroundings were beautiful and safe for children to play. The membership cards allowing access to Spa and Golf was wonderful. I would recommend Oakridge and we would certainly return.

Property was great. Lovely, quiet, set in a wooded area. An upside down property with loads of space upstairs in the open plan arrangement. Good size bedrooms with ensuites on the ground floor.15-20min walk through woods onto golf course upto leaisure facilities. You can drive it in 10 mins, roundsingle track roads before the main road.

Really nice setting, cottage was clean and facilities were great. If I have one grumble it is the mattresses - not sure if they were old but we really struggled to sleep and I really feel an upgrade is needed.

Lovely property for golf break
The property offers an ideal base to explore the area or as in our case, play two wonderful golf courses and take advantage of the spa facilities. It was our second time staying at Oakridge and despite the poor weather we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. We'll definitely be returning.

Perfect chilled getaway
Truly needed quiet chilled getaway from the hustle and bustle of “normal” life of living in a town. The house was perfect, set on a peaceful private road with only the sound of the birds in the woods and a lovely Robbin that sang us a song in the morning. The house had everything you could need, even games to play in the evening. My boys were very excited to see a golf game on the Nintendo Wii! The leisure facilities were perfect with a nice swim every evening and abit of golf in the mornings. Would highly recommend, and we will definitely come again. Thank you Simon for letting us stay in your lovely lodge :-)

An amazing and thrilling stay
We loved the house with amazing views, modern interior - it is a lovely family holiday home. The kids loved the quiet estate road, as they are free to roam by themselves on their skateboards. We loved our stroll along the beach at Whitsand Bay, with a breathtaking coastline, finished off with a delicious lunch at the Cliff Top Cafe.

Had a lovely staycation in 12 Oakridge. The lodge is extremely well equipped with lots of plates and cutlery and plenty of space for 6 people. The estate is very tranquil and the setting is lovely...a real away from it all. Owner extremely helpful would recommend this lodge.

Really lovely stay
We had a really lovely stay at Oakridge, Pillaton. The lodge is really lovely and comfortable for both summer and winter stays and is kitted out with everything you need. Ideally located to explore both Cornwall and Devon but is quite to get to and out of and you definitely need a car! Thank you Simon for all you help and advice.

Golf trip
The booking and acces to property was seemless. A welcome gift was found on arrival thankyou. All towels and bedding wete freashcand clean. Plenty of cooking bits in the kitchen is always a great help when self catering. Clean and tiday and so quiet. Booking golf was easy andcadvise going after 1.30. Its like millionaire golf. Look forard to returning.

What an amazing property. Owned by possibly the friendliest owners ever. From start to finish this weekend away has been an absolute joy. Perfect location for us, as all we wanted was somewhere quiet to relax in after a very difficult year. The owners were simply fantastic and so accommodating. Easy to like!
A wet and somewhat blustery week, but couldn't fault our stay otherwise! Impeccably furnished and very well equipped, the whole family also appreciated all bedrooms being en-suite. A lovely place, and a relaxing base to return to after busy days - highly recommended! :)

Above and Beyond
Our total experience at this VRBO property was above and beyond our expectations. The tranquil setting, the lovely condo and the access to St. Mellion’s golf, leisure facilities and excellent restaurants made our Cornwall experience truly fabulous. The property was ideal for golf at the St Mellion golf club a few minutes away. Although the property was spacious it was in need of a bit of TLC both inside and outside, paintwork is flaking and scuffed everywhere and all rooms needed a thorough clean . The bathrooms in particular in need of updating. Regardless of the above we enjoyed our stay

Well located (green, quiet, close to Plymouth and Cornish coast). The house is in need of a refurbishment (especially all 3 bathrooms and the kitchen). Living area is spatious, bedrooms are small. Communication with owner was OK. Facilities at Health & Leisure Center are good. Friendly staff. EV charging stations at the Center.

full of promise and optimism
this property was last sold in 2009 and is now beginning to show its age. the rooms are small, the bathrooms smaller. the kitchen serves a purpose, SKY and wifi are the height of technical modernity. the location is good if you want to get away from it all, but in the back end of beyond if you want more. a tree lined approach betrays the reality and is not for the faint hearted. availability of the hotel and estate facilities is useful, however, it is a drive away (7-10mins) and parking is limiited at the hotel. overall very disappointing, the price maybe cheap for 6, still low on the value for money scale.

Why they chose this property

We had been looking for a holiday property in Devon or Cornwall as a long-term investment which we could occasionally use as family getaway. We stumbled across the Oakridge estate almost by mistake and immediately fell in love with the tranquil location and the lodges with their 'up-side down' living and views out over the St Mellion golf courses and immediate countryside.

Our love of Oakridge is helped by the fact that a number of family members are keen golfers & were enticed by the superb golf on offer at St Mellion International Resort with the Jack Nicklaus designed 'Signature' course and the 'Kernow' course providing
varied, challenging & rewarding (at least some of the time!) golf in a superb setting.

The 13th hole of the 'Signature' course is just a short walk away across the bridge outside the lodge with the clubhouse and leisure club a short stroll away via the golf course buggy paths.

What makes this property unique

We provide two golf and two leisure passes to St Mellion which permit people to play golf on either the 'Signature' course or the 'Kernow' course whilst people enjoy the leisure facilities which include a 25m pool, leisure pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, gym, tennis courts, etc. These passes are complimentary for our guests and are included in the rental price and we hope that people appreciate the facilities and make good use of them during their stay.

BARS & RESTAURANTS
St Mellion incorporates a number of restaurants......
The An Boesti is a 2 AA-Rosette restaurant and serves fresh, local ingredients in a modern decor. There is also an adjoining bar to enjoy some pre or after dinner drinks.
The No.18 Bistro is a less formal offering providing all-day dining in a relaxed atmosphere, serving freshly ground coffee, afternoon tea, homemade desserts and a selection of healthy options.
The Nicklaus Bar overlooks the 18th green of the championship golf course. It’s the perfect spot to get together after a day of golfing at St Mellion. There is a wide selection of hot and cold food available along with light snacks.

In addition to the golf and leisure facilities, 12 Oakridge provides a superb base from which to explore the beautiful countryside with so much to see and do within just a short drive - there is far too much to list but just a few family favourites are Whitsand Bay, Mt Edgcumbe Country Park, Cotehele House & Quay and Antony House.
