Beautiful cottage
Very quiet, apart from the goats and cows. Beautiful views from the house, even more stunning views in the surrounding area. Heulwen was very accomodating and my Mum was so pleased with the rhubarb and made a yummy rhubarb crumble. Cottage decor was lovely, very clean and tidy. Well equipped kitchen and beautiful garden.

Tyddyn y Felin - Amazing!
Tyddyn y Felin is a charming old cottage by ancient Water Mill. We were taken aback by the tremendous views towards the Rhinog’s from the old mill pond above the cottage. If you like tranquility and scenic beauty, this is the place for you. The cottage is very comfortable. Heulwen lived nearby and offered help and advice which was appreciated. We hope to return in the near future. Chris & family.

Lovely stay in dog friendly house
We had a lovely relaxing week waking and exploring the area. We loved the house and Heulwen was very welcoming and helpful. Our dogs were also made very welcome and there is a good enclosed area for them to use as well as lovely walking from the house. We hope to come back to visit again soon.

A unique and fabulously situated property.
We spent a week in September and were lucky to have fabulous weather. This allowed us to take advantage of nearby swimming possibilities at Harlech beach, Cwm Bychan lake and nearby Barmouth. Heulwen is a great host. She was very attentive and also offered good advice as to what local places to visit. It is a unique property in a beautiful location with adequate accommodation for five adults and our cocker Hamish. The electricity reading was simple and not too expensive when we remembered to turn the heaters off overnight! Harlech is a beautiful town with lots of interesting eateries and shops. The bistro in the castle square comes highly recommended but do book first as we found it full. Outdoor area is lovely with views of the surrounding hills/mountains.

Great Landscapes and soft silences that rejuvenate
Heulwen’s detailed instructions enabled us to find her fantastic hideaway without recourse to satnav. She was there to welcome us and showed us around her historical house and garden. Everything was as advertised, including a great wifi signal as mobile signals are lost as soon as you descend from the hill drive to the house. The house is very picturesque, with a well-kept and beautiful garden that can be used for outside eating. Inside is very comfortable for living, sleeping, cooking and washing. We loved it. The walk down into Harlech is great, with visit to the Llew Glas Cafe a must, you do you have to prepare for the climb back. The route to Cwm Bychan is a feast for the eyes with sight of a piece of Roman Road as a reward. Ospreys may be sighted along with lots of intelligent sheep and interesting houses, always remember to close the gates. It’s a great starting place for visits up and down the coast and nearby beaches, though parking can be expensive. All in all, highly recommended for a get-away stay, as it is Wales, always have rain gear handy.

Beautiful
Absolute gorgeous old house with so much character. The surrounding area was just as beautiful and peaceful. We really didn't want to come home. Gonna miss the noise of the animals and sitting by the pond in the sun and peace.

Idylic
The owner Huelwen, very friendly, helpful, chatty, informative. The property is lovely and very rural, very peaceful and relaxing, we enjoyed our stay. Plenty of surrounding walks, beach a short distance away (10mins).Fully equipped kitchen, requires a coffee machine . Restaurants limited in Harlech, didn’t check out Barmouth, but as we drove thru seemed that there were quite a few restaurants/bars/cafes etc. need to book most of the restaurants. Visited a pub named Victoria Inn only a short distance from the property (15/20mins drive) food ok.

A good base for discovering the surrounding area especially as close to local train station.
The owner was helpful on check in and on hand during the stay to give tips and advice on places to visit. We mentioned that we had walked along the coast from the beach at Llandanwg to Harlech which was a 2 hour gentle stroll, and then caught the train back as we only had to wait 20 minutes for the local train ( luckily as only goes every 2 hours). The owner then recommend that it was a nice train journey to take in the view along the sea cliffs to Aberdovey about 1 hour away and see the small town which is a blaze of coloured houses which some of us explored as others went to the beach. We also visited the roman steps and the local water fall as suggested.

The farmhouse is a great place to stay: so quite, remote and peaceful. There is lots to do nearby and it is easy to get to things a little further away. the pond is a real asset, beautiful with water lilies and water crow's-foot flowers. The whole place is magical for children of all ages, 1 to 100!

Beautiful Rural Retreat!
We enjoyed 4 days in the area and staying in this authentic listed cottage was all part of the experience. It is noticeably cooler inside the house than outside but there is adequate heating in every room and good bedding! The location is a bit off the beaten track so if you don't mind driving to the nearest pub for a drink or meal then you'll be happy here.

Perfect real NW Wales holiday
If you want to have a lovely slice of real life in the beautiful Welsh countryside, you can't do better than this. Surrounded by sheep and having all the charm of old world construction, yet with working modern conveniences, Tyddyn y Felin is a wonderful holiday cottage. Our family of six from the USA absolutely loved it. All of the beauty of Snowdonia is easily in reach, with convenience shops in Harlech and full service grocery shopping is just up the road in Porthmadog. The kebab shop in Harlech serves delicious takeaway at good prices if you don't feel like cooking some nights, too.

Wonderful, atmospheric cottage in a gorgeous location.
Wonderful, atmospheric cottage in a gorgeous location. Well equipped, very clean, lovely hosts. The cottage was first built in 1592 and it must have experienced many happy times, you can feel it in its walls. Home to the celebrated welsh poet John Evans 1892-1949, when you see the breathtaking views from the mill pond you may be inspired to write poetry yourself. The garden is a sun trap, the night sky lit by the galaxy and the peace and quiet infectious. Harlech is a short 10 minute drive or 40 minute walk. We didn’t want to leave!

Great walking holiday
A lovely traditional Welsh cottage which we found to be very clean and well equipped. Set in beautiful countryside with lovely walks on the doorstep and in easy reach of local towns and beaches. Heulwen was very welcoming and friendly and gave us some great recommendations for places to visit. We enjoyed a great week and are looking forward to visiting again.

Great time had here
We had a great week here in a character property. Owners were very helpful and it was great being in the middle of nowhere yet only 10 minutes to nearest town and beach. There were great local walks and plenty to do with the weather great as it was for us. Comfortably slept 3 adults and 4 kids and a dog.

Beautiful, tranquil spot with very helpful and friendly owner
We were in the area for a wedding and were delighted to find this property that welcomed us (family of 4) and our dog most warmly. The house is fully kitted with everything you need - as a previous reviewer said the kitchen utensils etc allowed for decent meals to be cooked at the house. The surrounding area is beautiful even getting gasps from the children (10 and 17 yrs) and Heulwen was a mine of useful local up to date information, even leaving us out a leaflet about the Harlech festival which was on during our stay. Harlech beach is wonderful - totally unspoilt just seemingly miles and miles of sand and crystal clear water. Whilst we didn't go into the castle it is an impressive landmark when coming in and out of the small town. Our 10 month cockapoo had a ball - the house comes with a great garden for children or our four legged friends to run around in. She loved the pond and had her first taste of the beach on our holiday. We had a lovely week in North Wales - so much to do both on our doorstep and a little further afield. Thank you to Heulwen for making us so welcome and dealing very speedily with all my questions before and during our stay. Caroline P, the McCormacks & Flo

Character property in beautiful, tranquil location with friendly owner
As a gay couple with a boisterous Labrador, we worry about finding accepting accommodation. We had no need to worry here. The owner is very welcoming, from giving us tips on best things to see in the area (the Roman Steps walk from Llyn Cwm Bychan was stunning) to providing a dedicated towel for our dog (much needed with use of her pond for doggy swims). This property is full of character, furnished with items from 4 generations of the owner's family. We love to cook so were pleased to find a fully kitted out kitchen. Every room was clean and comfortable. Whilst we used the property as a base to travel around Snowdonia (we hiked up Snowdon, travelled on the Ffestiniog railway from Porthmadog and rode Europe's fastest zip wire at Bethesda), we also took advantage of the gorgeous countryside walks surrounding the property. Had we stayed longer, we would certainly have done more of those. One of our reasons for staying in Harlech was the beaches so near along the coast. Harlech beach is vast with plenty of dog-permitted space. The only thing that we weren't prepared for was all the steep, narrow roads around the property. The owner sent us excellent directions beforehand that took us on the best roads, but if you're coming up from Harlech Castle be prepared for a lot of single-track driving in 1st gear. Don't follow the sat-nav blindly from the Llanfair direction as you may find yourself on even narrower roads with gates to open and close on the way. Keep the directions you're given in the car so you can find your way back the right way! Come the end of our stay in this property we were sad to leave. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to come back again, maybe with more family/friends to take advantage of the large house and to share the experience with others.
