Very comfortable Apartment

A lovely air conditioned apartment, pleasantly furnished with a very comfortable double bed. We very much enjoyed the large sunny balcony with it's lovely outlook over the pool and the sea. The roof terrace offered a great place for sun downers with its glorious views watching the sun set. A possible negative for some is that the apartment is part of a reasonable size complex hosting a good number of people. Our time there was somewhat marred by large noisy groups sitting around our pool. Sad to say they were Brits. At times it was lovely and peaceful and at others it was very noisy with a lot of bad language being used. If you catch a period with reasonable people staying you will not be disappointed.

Amazing stay in a beautiful property

This was the best family holiday we have ever had, in no small part due to this apartment and its location. Carvoeiro is such a beautiful spot and this apartment is perfectly placed to enjoy everything it has to offer. Yes, there is a hill to climb, but we really enjoyed the walks up and down every day and didn't find this a problem at all. As for the apartment itself - the photos really don't do it justice. Spacious (plenty of space for a family of 5), well-equipped and amazing views. Swimming pools accessible and clean. Comfy beds. I could go on. If in any doubt, just book it, you won't regret it.

Even better than it looks

We were unable to book a holiday until the last minute, by which time our first choice through Vrbo (a villa in Ferragudo we had stayed in last October) was gone. Having enjoyed a family holiday in Monte Dourado some years ago we decided on a return visit, to a significantly superior property. As everyone mentions, the steep hill up from the village does provide a workout but well worth it. The photographs really do not tell the full story of this exceptional apartment, in particular the roof terrace is even better than it appears but the whole place is spacious and well presented. The pool area is excellent and the sea views (and the sound of the waves either lapping or crashing onto the shore depending on the weather is a nice backdrop). Every query was promptly and helpfully replied to by Sally, I have no doubt that any significant issues would be dealt with quickly. It was a pleasure staying in this very welcoming and comfortable home. I shouldn't really say this but it seems to me that the price charged represents excellent value for money too. Highly recommended, we would certainly check availability first when next we get a week off.

We've stayed at the Monte dourado resort many times over the last 15 years . This apartment with it's balcony overlooking the pool affords great sea views and although a steep road back lends itself to being accessible to the towns bars and restaurants.

Wonderful apartment

We stayed for 7 nights at this lovely apartment. Communication with Sally before and during our stay was superb. The apartment is extremely comfortable and well equipped. The views are stunning and location to the town and beach really convenient and great to have the swimming pool right outside. We are sad to leave and hope to be back!

Beautiful, comfortable apartment in Carvoeiro

Stayed at Sallys apartment for a week, thoroughly enjoyed. Near to town (the hills keep the fitness ticking over 😁). Beautifully furnished with a homely touch, great air-con which was very much needed. Prompt communication with small queries / questions. Would definitely consider a future stay. Would recommend 😁

Spacious condo next to pool and short walk to town. The hill up from the village is steep - was a quite a lot for my 80 year old mom, but she did fine and wasn't a problem for anyone else. highly recommended!

Lovely apartment in Carvoeiro

This was our second visit to this apartment and we all had a great time. Very well located with beautiful sea/sunset views. Easy access to main pool and short walk into town but steep walk back. Comfortable and well equipped. Expect we will return as love Carvoeiro and the beaches nearby.

Home Away From Home

Everything about our stay was perfect, from when we fist booked right through to the end. Casa Alta is a beautiful, well kept apartment with the best view and fantastic roof terrace (regularly used with a well deserved drink) after working hard on a sunbed all day 😁 Sally is a perfect host who was always willing to answer any questions. Will definitely return if Sally will have us!! Thank you so much, our first visit after Covid and our love of Carvoiero has never waned. See you soon Cvo

Très bon séjour

Le logement est grand, bien aménagé et surtout très bien placé. Belle vue sur la mer avec balcon et terrasse au soleil. Très calme à cette période de l année. De plus Carvoeiro est aussi très bien placé. Possibilité de faire le sentier des 7 vallées suspendues à partir du logement. La côte est vraiment spectaculaire avec ses falaises.

Christmas in Carvoeiro

Amazing stay at this apartment! The host was very helpful from the begining, it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked, even cooked a full on Xmas lunch....the bed was comfy and the shower was amazing! The terrace was a great bonus and was lovely to sit and watch the sun setting with a cold beer or two! We know the area well so the location is perfect. Highly recommend this apartment and wouldn't hesitate on returning 👌 Thank you Sally for everything x

great host, great accommodation, miscommunicated building works!

First of all we should say that throughout our stay, Sally communicated well with us in what was an utterly dire situation. We are unsure what, if any, role VRBO played in this, and we'd be very cautious of using VRBO again. A couple of days before we flew, Sally messaged us to say she'd been informed of building work downstairs, and that there may be a "bit of noise", during "the first few days of our stay". It was too late at this point to make alternative arrangements, everything was paid for, what choice did we have but to travel? We can accept a bit of noise for a few days, no problem. We'd been looking forward to this for months, and paid a premium for a nice place to stay, which the apartment certainly is. From the first day of the stay it was clear that there was complete mis-communication around the work that was being undertaken. The neighbouring property was having a complete refurbishment. For the first four days of our holiday, the walls were shaken with the vibration of tile removal equipment, reducing our three year old to tears because she was scared. We tried to be out as much as possible but every time we did come back that was the noise that greeted us. From talking to people staying near the property we were eventually moved to, confirmed was an incessant continuous noise for the first four days of our stay between 9am-5pm. On the evening of day three, Sally had tried to get them to cease work as inclement weather was due, and we weren't really sure what we would do to get out. They said to her that they would try and do the bathroom to the front of the property thinking this would be less noisy. In the meantime we were in contact with VRBO whose only response really was that "any refund would be at the discretion of the owner". They asked for evidence of the work which I sent via email, and asked them to confirm receipt, which they never did. They didn't respond to any subsequent correspondence. We weren't after a refund, we wanted a way to start our holiday again and comfort our 3yo from the noise. Day four began with rain, the builders doing whatever they wanted (they continued with chiselling up the living room floor) and a message from Sally saying she'd managed to get us some alternative accommodation in a nearby block. We could still hear the noise from there like a taunt, but it was far better than where were. In short, Sally was a good host, apartment great, but facilities management on site and VRBO were not.

Why they chose this property

We started going to Monte Dourado, Carvoeiro in 2008. It was a last minute deal and we had never been to Portugal before. Since then we haven't been anywhere else! Monte Dourado is a stunning resort, ideally situated so that you are close to the bars and restaurants aswell as the beach, without being down in the noise of the town. The people are so friendly. It really is a beautiful place. Whenever we arrive, I feel the tension just drop away. It really is like coming home.

What makes this property unique

In addition to the standard two bedrooms that are provided by the apartments on Monte Dourado, we also have a beautiful, private roof terrace that boasts its own BBQ, sun loungers and dining area. Whether you want to soak up the sun during the day, or watch the stunning sun sets while finishing the day with a glass of Sangria, it really is a fantastic addition to the apartment. Recently we have installed free, high speed Wifi, which will enable you to stream from your own Netflix etc accounts.
