Casa Colomba is a restored property set on the woodland fringes of Orciatico, an ancient hilltop village 400 meters above sea level. The setting is so peaceful.A swimming pool was installed in 2017.There are stunning views over the Tuscan hills towards Pisa, Florence and Volterra. In June it is magical walking up the hill at night from the village seeing all the fire flies.On a good day you can even see the Leaning Tower .Comfortably furnished, the house has many artistic and original features. It has two balconies and terraced seating areas and a fully enclosed garden with patio, lawn and olive trees.Through out the day you can follow the sun all the way around the cottage.There are breathtaking views from all three bedrooms.The field adjoining the property belongs to Casa Colomba .The cottage is spacious ,comfortable and well equipped. There are a large selection of books,DVD's and games.The villlage of Orciatico is a ten minute walk down the hill. There is a local bar that is very reasonably priced. The charming small town of Lajatico is just ten minutes away and it is where Andrea Bocelli holds his concert every year at the Teatro del Silenzio .A lovely place to sit and have a coffee and watch the world go by.

Wonderful view and quiet area
This is the perfect house to relax and recharge. When the weather is right you have an absolutely breathtaking view and its very quiet. Filippo is extremely friendly and always available if you need any help or assistance locally. The naturally heated pool allows you to take a refreshing dip to cool down on hot summar days. There was really very little to really complain about, or it rather depends on your personal needs. Self check in could be improved with a key box, but we managed to get in, no problem, despite our late arrival. WiFi was really slow, unstable and did not work with latest devices as it is no longer up to date with the security standards, so we mostly used hotspot/tethering instead. Not a big deal for us, but I can imagine that for some guests would be nice to just put a more modern system in place. The equipment in the house is very complete with all appliances you could possibly need like even an oven, barbecue, washing mashine, dishwasher etc, but some things around the kitchen are a bit rustical/heavily used (hanging cabinet doors, hanging washing machine door etc) I can imagine this could be easily fixed with some wood glue and a screwdriver. Some of the dishes/cutlery were not clean when we arrived so had to put it in the dishwasher first. No idea if this was possibly related to previous guests. Other than that, perfect vacation and we'd absolutely come back again if we have the opportunity.

Schön abseits gelegenes Haus mit allem was man braucht
Wenn man in ruhiger Lage den Urlaub in der Toskana verbringen will ist man hier genau richtig. Weit weg vom Trubel kann man hier richtig entspannen und den Urlaub genießen. Im Haus ist auch alles vorhanden, vom Toilettenpapier, Waschmittel, Handtüche, usw. uns hat es an nichts gefehlt! Das ist wirklich herausragend, selbst Lufttiere für den Pool sind in ausreichender und vielseitiger Menge vorhanden. Kritikpunkte: 1. Es ist schade dass die Vormieter das Geschirr nicht kontrolliert hatten bevor sie es in den Schrank zurück stellten, so mussten wir fast alles erst mal reinigen. 2. Die Sickergrube gibt manchmal schlechte Gerüche von sich ab, wenn man aber rechtzeitig dagegensteuert mit morgens einer Tablette hält sich das aber alles im Griff.

A view to die for!
We’ve had a wonderful week at Casa Colombia. Fillipo has been a great help, making us a restaurant booking and arranging taxis for Teatro del Silenzio. The villa itself is just fabulous - what a view! It couldn’t be better equipped and the furnishings are beautifully authentic. The pool was kept spotless, as were the outside areas. Your directions were perfect too, thank you. We would not hesitate to recommend or visit Casa Colombia again.

Great views, pool and location.
We had a great time. The views are fantastic and the pool is great. Inside works well and is functional. Great to have the second fridge in the utility room. The location is great, just over an hour to Pisa, Lucca, Florence and Siena. Also great for san gimignano and Volterra. The local village is v quiet but lojiatico nearby has excellent restaurant and bar in the main square. It's a lovely quiet location with a couple of steep narrow roads to get there but perfectly accessible even with quite a large car so not a problem if you are a reasonably confident driver.

Beautiful villa in a beautiful location . Perfect for a family reunion The panoramic view from the villa was truly amazing . The pool was fabulous and many games of volley ball were played as well as swimming in the morning . Lots of different areas to sit and be shady as well as a great table to eat at in the evening . Facilities couldnt have been better and you would be hard pressed to find anything that was overlooked . Very friendly staff who looked after the pool and also advised with restaurants and places of interest . A great holiday experience .

Nice holiday home
The house is located on a hill with panoramic views. A resident of a town on the other side of the hill told us that our village is very warm, but there are plenty of seats in the shade around the house. In addition, there is air conditioning and a beautiful swimming pool with outdoor shower. The house has very few insects thanks to the mosquito nets and the air conditioning! The kitchen and sanitary facilities were clean. However, we did not cook, but as lovers of Italian cuisine we ate out every day. Enough choice! The house is fully equipped, including cushions for the sunbeds and patio chairs, and a washing machine. The local agent responded immediately to questions and made sure the pool and garden were cleaned every morning. The house is not detached, but you have absolutely no problems with the neighbors. The only downsides are the steep spiral staircase, the difficult-closing old doors of the bedrooms and the somewhat dated bathroom on the upper floor. As mentioned by other visitors, the gate is quite tight for a large car like an X5, but you get used to it quickly. All in all a nice holiday home! Nice house with a superb view
Casa Colomba is a nice house with a great view over the Tuscan hills. The location is somewhat remote with a steep climb, so getting groceries for 6 adults takes time (25 mins to Peccioli). The shops in Lajatico are sufficient for the basics, but close during lunch and the little shop in Orciatico opens when the lady feels like it, which is not always when you need something :). The house itself is very well equiped, with lots of plates and glasses, showergel and handsoaps in the bathrooms/kitchen, dish soap, laundry detergent and musquito incense spirals (these also work for the trillions of mini flies/mosquitoes by the pool on a hot and windless day). The kitchen is well equiped, some things we brought from home because we always miss them were already there (cheese grater and slicer, a decent coffeemaker, milk frother). The airco's in the bedrooms were very welcome in this unusually hot month of June. The pool is nice, but shallow, no diving. Filippo comes in every morning to tend to the pool and plants and is a good source of information. He booked us a wine tasting with light dinner at Fattoria Fibbiano, we had a great time there! The only thing that was a little less comfortable, were the bathrooms (the are not in the pictures). They are a bit small, especially for Dutch boys/men of 1.95m high. The bathroom downstairs is a toilet upgraded with a shower cubicle of which the boiler was very instable, so after a couple of minutes the boiler shuts off and the water gets cold. I informed Janis, the owner, about this and she said they would tend to this. All in all we had a good time at Casa Colomba!

Comfortable House with Outstanding Views
We stayed at Casa Colomba in late August 2021. Our party consisted of 2 families (4 adults and 4 children) and the house was comfortably big enough and well equipped. Filippo (property manager) visited most days to tend to the pool and was a super source of info and support. He even came out to us one even to fix the electricity one evening, and organised all our COVID testing. As others have commented, the views from the house and pool are amazing, as are the outdoor seating/relaxing opportunities. We mostly ate outside but when it was a little chilly there was also plenty of space inside for socialising. The roads around Orciatico are narrow, as is the route up to the house, but this is to be expected in the Tuscany countryside. A small hire care (think Fiat Panda!) would have been ideal, but we did manage in a BMW X5 with some careful maneuvering. We found plenty to do around the area and ventured out to the coast on a couple of days. The square in Lajatico was particularly lovely in the evenings and the restaurant there is definitely worth a visit. One downside to note is that the restaurant in Orciatico itself is now closed, so there is no where to eat out within walking distance. For peace and quiet and amazing views Casa Colomba is definitely worth a visit.

Traumhafte Aussicht mit Pool
Das schöne Haus mit traumhafter Aussicht und schönen Pool ist ideal für einen Urlaub mit Familie oder Freunde. Man kann wundervoll relaxen, gemeinsam kochen und schöne Momente genießen. Das Haus ist in der Küche gut ausgestattet, die Zimmer und Bäder sind einfach und sehr ordentlich. Zum Strand und Pisa sind es ca. eine Stunde Fahrtzeit mit dem Auto. Sonst sind auch kleinere Städte in kürzere Wege sehr gut erreichbar. Wer die Stille und die atemberaubende Aussicht mag, ist hier genau am richtigen Ort. Der Verwalter, Fillipo, war jeden Morgen da und hat den Pool sauber gemacht. Bei Fragen war er stets offen und hilfsbereit. Wir können das Haus und auch die Vermieter sehr empfehlen!

Lovely stay at beautiful villa
We had a lovely stay at the truly beautifully located villa Casa Colomba. The house was very well equiped, the managers Janis and Filippo were very nice and the area was really nice too. We can only recommend a stay here! Please also walk down the road to the cute little village Orciatico to get a coffee every morning and also visit Lajatico to have nice dinners. We wish you a great visit to Casa Colomba.

Peace and tranquility in the Tuscan hills
My family & I have just returned from a week long holiday at Casa Colomba. From the moment we booked and all the way through the holiday the property owners were helpful and informative. Upon arrival we were met by Filippo who was very helpful and informative about the local area, also cleaning the pool every morning. The panoramic view from Casa Colomba is absolutely breathtaking, an elevated view of the Tuscan hills that will live long in the memory. The property has various areas of outside seating to enjoy the peace and solitude, and a barbecue with such a vista that it actually made cooking a pleasure! Inside the property is well appointed with everything that you would need for a comfortable stay. In summary Casa Colomba is the perfect retreat to relax and unwind in a beautiful and peaceful setting.

Delightful Italian home in gorgeous location
We all enjoyed a lovely relaxing September week at Casa Columba, a real home from home with so many thoughtful touches to make our stay really comfortable. And as for the view, the photos really don't do it justice, it's breathtakingly gorgeous and hard to tear yourself away from! The weather was very kind to us so we spent many happy hours enjoying the numerous seating areas on the terrace or having a refreshing dip in the pool. Fillipo was the perfect caretaker, good fun and very helpful with his excellent English and local knowledge, making restaurant bookings for us to sample the delicious local food and wine. There are so many beautiful places to visit in the area, we could only manage a few but enjoyed day trips to Volterra, San Gimigano and Lucca. We all returned from Casa Columba with fully recharged batteries, it was the perfect place for a relaxing holiday!

A little bit of paradise
Casa Colomba exceeded our hopes and expectations. The views are incredible (the photos don’t do it justice). The pool and gardens are kept immaculately clean and the house is also spotless, cosy but has plenty of space for a family of 5 (including 2 adult children). There is so much to see and do in the surrounding area. Volterra and Lucca were highlights for us and we didn’t have a disappointing meal throughout the 2 weeks of our stay. We wanted a relaxing, lovely family holiday before our eldest sets off travelling and our middle child starts Uni in a couple of weeks. That is exactly what we got and made some great family memories along the way.

Fantastic location in Tuscany !
We were a family of 2 adults and 3 teenagers. When i read all the appreciations i don’t Know what can i add: lovely house with his garden, fantastic view, perfect swimming pool, you find all you need, and it is very functional. Maybe I can add that we have seen twice a doe and her fawn near the house ! You can easily visite a lot of village and famous place. We spent a pleasant stay. Thanks to Janis for all the attention to make sure that all will be ok for us and thanks to Filippo too who welcomed us. We all enjoyed ! We recommend this place!

What a Gem!!!!
Let me start by saying the pictures don't do justice to what you actually see, the views of the Tuscan country side are absolutely breathtaking. The weather was perfect, hot outside but cool in the house and the pool was great for us and our kids. The house itself was the perfect size for us our 2 teenage kids and another couple that met us for a few days, it is fully equipped with everything you would need, really a home away from home. The near by town of Orciatico is only a 5 min walk and has a small store , bar and a great family owned restaurant we ate at twice. Our favourite was the wonderful and art filled town of Lajatico which is about 3 km away and can be seen from the house. Just an amazing little find close by with great shops and a family run restaurant called Nello's where the food is all homemade and absolutely to die for, definitely a must try if you rent this house. It is also a wine lovers paradise, with vineyards every five minutes when you are driving . It was a great place as a home base for doing wine tastings at one of the hundreds of vineyards and to visit Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano or many of the amazing little hill top towns in the area. I would highly recommend Casa Colomba to anyone wanting to visit the Tuscan country side or if you just want to have a wonderful home to kick back and relax at. What a great find. Case Columba is a lovely ‘home from home’. Very clean with all you need to hand for a superb holiday. Close to many Tuscany attractions but so utterly peaceful. Good pool and those amazing views. If you are considering just ‘do it ‘. You won’t be disappointed

Its always, always about location, location, location
Whilst the house itself is very comfortable and has pretty much everything you would need for a holiday stay including a decent kitchen with a good quantity of utensils/crockery etc , good library and satellite telly, it is the views from the outside spaces that really provide the " wow factor " This part of Tuscany is blessed with the rolling farmlands that you look for and this house affords tremendous views of them all the way up towards Pisa and over towards Lanterra. There are several tables and chairs positioned outside village allowing you to focus on any aspect of the view you wish. The pool is obviously a big draw and it is a hardship to sit with your feet cooling whilst looking over to Lajatico - truly blissful. Orciatico itself is a charming unspoilt village which you must pass through to reach the house. Although it is truly steep the road is fine for driving and for walking ( 10 mins down 15/20 back ! ) Being 45-50 mins from Pisa Airport it is an straightforward drive away and is a good point to travel from and explore all around. Throw in friendly neighbours and you have the receipe for a perfect holiday - just like we had.

This beautiful house is the most incredible place to explore the whole Tuscan region. Superbly located on the hilly edge of the cutest little village, this well equipped and fully functioning home-from-home retreat is well placed for exploring the beautiful mediaeval towns and villages in the area like Volterra and San Gimignano. Only 45 minutes' drive from Pisa and with Florence easily accessible by train, Casa Columba has a fantastic location. The house easily accommodates 2 families over 2 floors with strong wifi, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen and huge lounge/diner. Comfy and cosy. I recommend to all.

A magical family holiday location
We were a family of two adults and four children staying at this gorgeous casa. There was plenty of space for us all to sleep, eat and play. The new pool is a fantastic addition and it was hard to tear the kids away from it, for cultural trips. So many places to visit and all within an hour’s drive away or thereabouts. We had lots of fun walking down to the little village restaurant on some evenings. It was important to us grown ups to be situated within walking distance of eateries, to be free to enjoy a glass of wine with no drive. The views from this casa are phenomenal. You can see for miles around, and enjoy the changing light on the hills and valleys from dawn till dusk. We very much hope to return.

Séjour super agréable, dans une maison aux vues magnifiques sur la campagne toscane. Cuisine fonctionnelle, terrasse très sympa, ainsi que le coin piscine, et possibilité de rayonner autour facilement : Pise, Volterra, San Gimignano, Val d'Elsa... sans la cueillette des mûres dans les chemins tout proches. Salles de bain un peu petites en revanche, et vraiment besoin d'une cabine de douche en bas à la place du rideau. Lieu parfait pour 1 semaine entre amis, nous avons bien profité ! Very nice stay, in a house with magnificent views on the Tuscan countryside. Functional kitchen, terrace very nice, as well as the pool area, and possibility to visit around easily: Pisa, Volterra, San Gimignano, Val d'Elsa ... However, bathrooms a bit small, and really need a "shower cabin" downstairs instead of the curtain. Perfect place for 1 week with friends, we enjoyed!

Piers and Janis live in Wilmcote a village near Stratford Upon Avon, in the UK.
They purchased the property in January 2014.
They fell in love with Tuscany on a visit in 2013 and decided to search for a property where they could spend time with their family and friends. They were lucky to find Casa Colomba . It is in the delightful hilltop village of Orciatico, which is peaceful and unspoilt . It is great for walking and bird watching and is well located for touring around Tuscany.Ideal base to stay for the concert of Andrea Bocelli at The Teatro el Silenzio. The concert can be seen from the house.
Since purchasing the property , they have installed a complete new damp course, fitted fly screens and decorated inside and out. They have had a new driveway built so access and parking is easier. In 2017 they put in a swimming pool with wonderful views. In 2018 all the terraces were replaced and air conditioning installed upstairs .

Why they chose this property

We love Tuscany. The lifestyle, the food, the landscape and the wonderful places to visit .
The location is so peaceful with the most spectacular views.There are so many places to explore and the location is ideally suited for peace and quiet with easy access to the more traditional tourist towns and cities. There are also some lovely little medieval towns within a short drive . There are wonderful walks through the woods directly from the cottage gates.

What makes this property unique

The location is unique .So peaceful yet just a short walk to the local bar run as a co-operative by the locals . There are wonderful views even even whilst you swim.
