Peaceful and beautiful place
The property is amazing with some beautiful scenery. The surrounding area is very quiet and peaceful. Management communicated well throughout. Some of the extra charges are over the top so be careful and make sure to ask beforehand (I.e housekeeping). There are plenty of wasps at the property and specially at the swimming pool area. They make most outdoor activities difficult. It seems that on day one, they come to assess you. On day two, they try to intimidate you and as long as you don’t present a threat, they leave you alone. They are still very annoying and menacing and are constantly in your face. You are not able to enjoy the full potential of the property. If something could be done about the wasps, this will be an amazing place for a break. The gym equipment could do with an update or some lubrication. It would’ve been helpful if the local assistant could speak some English. Overall, we did enjoy our time at this location.

Traumhafte Lage in absoluter Ruhe

Wonderful Stay in Corijo Buijo
We have just spent two wonderful weeks at Corijo Buijio. The villa offered everything we could need in terms of cooking and entertainment. A well equipped kitchen, a lovely swimming pool, ping pong table and great outdoor dining space. We felt very fortunate to be up in the mountains, as there was always a cool breeze in the evenings and never felt too hot. We had Reme come in two nights to cook supper for us. It was a real treat and absolutely delicious. My son is still talking about the Paella. Location wise, the villa is completely secluded, quiet and very peaceful with views of Sierra Neveda and lots of olive trees. We were able to reach Granada in an hour and Cordoba in 1 hour 20 minutes. Both definitely worth a visit. We also went to Rio Frio (35 minutes away), where you can visit the Caviar center and if you book in advance take a tour of the Caviar river area. Fishing also possible here, but a permit must be obtained from a local authority, nearest in Loja. Our only slightly negative feedback is the number of wasps. They come out in the evenings and do not disappear until night fall. This is very off putting whilst you are having supper in such a magical spot.

Wonderful, peaceful, lovely Cortijo
We have had an amazing 2 weeks at Cortijo Bujio. There were 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 children. We had plenty of room in this fabulous place. The Cortijo is only a 15 minute drive from Montefrio, but feels as though you're in the middle of nowhere. The views are stunning and the pool is amazing. The house is lovely and we stayed cool enough despite the weather being very hot-the house is quite high up in the hills and there is often a breeze. The rooms are excellent and the kitchen is very well appointed although we spent most of our time by the pool or on the terraces. On a couple of nights we arranged for the housekeeper to come and cook. As well as being the most lovely lady she is an incredible cook, but make sure you've got a big appetite! We had no issues, but any questions we asked, by email, of the owners were answered immediately. Granada airport is half an hour's drive and the Alhambra another 20 minutes further on. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful holiday in a comfortable, beautiful place away from it all then this is for you!

Amazing villa
A perfect destination for my mother-in-laws 60th birthday celebration. The villa comfortably accommodated 7 of us, and we were regularly blown away by the beauty of the villa and the views overlooking the Andalucian hills. The photos on the listing only capture a fraction of this. The villa is well equipped with everything you could possibly need and is perfect for a fun and relaxing holiday. Particular highlights included the pool, 4 terraces, the sunken bath with hillside view, Remi's Paella night, (and the Neals Yard cosmetics in every room!), to name a few. The Alhambra in Granada is also easily reached by car. Jeff & Tish are very welcoming & helpful hosts and we will be recommending the villa to friends should we not have already booked it again.

A beautiful escape
The villa was stunning - beautifully restored, set in the hills about 15 minutes drive from a lovely little village and spotlessly clean. I went with my wife and four year old son and we all loved it. For us the pool was the highlight, set at the top of the hill with lovely views across the olive tree covered hills. We spent most of our time here, darting from water to the sun and then the cool shady bar/lounge area. The interior design was obviously well considered, the attention to detail was exceptional and you could easily take three different families there and still have your own privacy. Tish and Jeff were very helpful, always on hand to offer advice or sort any issues. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautiful setting but cold!
Charming, immaculate, nicely appointed villa. The setting is absolutely stunning! HOWEVER, I would not recommend a winter stay. We were there for 3 nights and the house did not get warm until the last day - - the master bathroom never did get warm and the master bath tub never did have hot water (a shame, since it was gorgeous!) We were expected to build fires to help keep the villa warm and the main fireplace did not draw correctly, so that the villa (and all of us) smelled like smoke. (We are country living folk with our own wood-burning fireplace, so we know how to build a fire.) We used the kitchen extensively but they did not supply drinking water (we were told to bring our own) or any pantry essentials, like spices, etc. This is challenging since the nearest grocery is quite a distance away. Also, a substantial cash deposit is requested when you arrive and it is not returned for a week, so you lose money when the exchange rate kicks back in when it is wired back to to you. As a side note, definitely go to Montefrio for the castle at the top of the hill during your stay-- but take a map! Navigating the city is challenging. Also, we easily day-tripped to the Alhambra from the villa and also traveled the "back roads" after our stay there to the coast for a gorgeous drive.

Wonderfully peaceful holiday home
It is the attention to detail that made our holiday here so enjoyable. Tish and Jeff have converted the house to a very high specification and the views are absolutely spectacular. But what made it special for me was that everything was spotless. Chairs, cushions and sun loungers all had brand clean covers at the beginning of our stay and the house, kitchen and bathrooms were immaculate. Many has been the holiday when I have had to clean a kitchen or a bathroom on arrival but not this time. The kitchen was beautifully equipped - there was nothing that I don't have in my own kitchen AND all the knives were sharp. This is very important if you're a keen cook! Tish and Jeff were kind, informative and very friendly and the whole experience was a very happy one for us all. We will definitely be back.

It is all about the view
Not to even mention the pleasure of relaxing after a day of touring. Or just a day of relaxing. The place has a different terrace to sit out on depending on the time of day. The pool is perfect for any time of the day. This is an oasis.

Most unique place I've ever stayed in
My wife and I stayed here for five nights during our honeymoon. We stayed at three others villas/hotels in other parts of Spain, but this was by far our favorite. In fact, I'm pretty well traveled - I've stayed in around 35 countries - and this was probably the most unique accommodations I've ever had. The villa is a refurbished farmhouse, and its style is modern and Moroccan. It has the feel of luxury, yet isn't over the top. When we arrived, Jeff and Tish were there to greet us and show us around. They're a friendly couple from England that live in the nearby town. After helping us get settled, we followed them in our car into town since we needed to buy groceries. They were also quick to help during other days when we had a question. The villa itself was clean and spotless when we checked in. It's clear that the owners take great pride in what they've done here. It has everything you could want - real fireplaces (with all the firewood you could want), a kitchen fully equipped, an outdoor gym, pool (being Nov it was a bit too cool for us to plunge), a stunning master bathroom, and a huge movie screen in its own room. The bedrooms are different and each have their own character. Again, this place is very unique. The villa is secluded, which was perfect for our honeymoon, and the scenery beautiful. You see olive groves on every side. One afternoon we grilled outside and just soaked in the views. I've already told a few friends and family members that they have to stay here in the near future. I live in Miami and have seen many beautiful places. But there was something about this villa that captured me. We'll definitely be back!

What a Find!
Just got back from a family holiday in Cortijo Bujio. I cannot recommend this place enough. A beautifully done up farm house overlooking the Sierra Nevada, with heaps of Andalucian charm coupled with modern day luxury. Add to this a ridiculously well sited swimming pool, supremely tasteful interior and every games facility (indoor and outdoor) you can think of and you get a holiday to remember. Tish and Jeff could not have been more helpful and made us feel very welcome (even putting up with an impromptu Flamenco show from our Flamenco obssessed 6 yr old daughter). We're already booking for next year...

Absolutely perfect!
We have just had 9 nights at Cortijo Bujilo, and I can say we were blown away by the place. It is actually more stunning than the photos led us to believe, which is saying something indeed. Every room was spotlessly clean, and it seemed like everything had been thought about, everything was catered for. We visited with some friends with children, and the table tennis, huge games room, pool and basketball hoop went down an absolute treat! The owners are really friendly and made it all a stress-free experience. I really cant recommend the place enough. The kitchen was great as well!

A wonderful house in rural Granada/Andalucia
The Cortijo Bujio is a really beautiful house with some extraordinary features (double-height main bathroom in tower with beamed ceiling and a great view from the bath is only one example). The pool is exceptionally-sited and has a good barbecue and sheltered seating area. The owners, Tish and Jeff, are extremely helpful and friendly. They take care not to intrude. Excellent kitchen with very good equipment. Many amenities which add to quality of stay including a great TV cinema room and a little gym with a decent running machine and various other pieces of equipment. Views of hills are wonderful and the surroundings (olive farms) provide a lovely atmosphere for a holiday. An absolutely excellent holiday destination which we recommend 100% Stuart and Sheila UK

Relax & Enjoy!!!
My very good friend, Bushra I went away for a few days on a long awaited relaxing 'girlie' holiday and we were definitely NOT disappointed at all! As it was October we were worried that the weather wasn’t going to be great but we were blessed with lovely sunshine throughout our time there. Bushra even managed to catch some sun!! From the moment we arrived at Cortijo Bujio, the owners Tish & Jeff were very helpful, accommodating and nothing was too much for them. They spent time showing us around their beautiful villa and answered all our questions which we had lots off! The outside view was truly breathtaking and absolutely peaceful, just what we wanted and needed! The villa was far more beautiful and serene then the photo’s shown on the site and you can truly only appreciate it once you are here. The four bedrooms were stunning and they all had their own individual styles. The ‘La Torre’ room has an extra large bed, a lounge area and a huge en-suite bathroom with the striking sunken bath with an amazing view. The only problem was that we had to fight for the room and of course I won! The rest of the villa was just as beautiful, from the dinning area with its outside views of the mountains in the distance to the cosy comfortable living area and the relaxing cinema/games room. The outside courtyard with its views & a cup of fresh coffee was sheer bliss! The pool area was perfectly picturesque. In addition to all the above there was an open-air gym and a play area for young children. There are many other extra activities/entertainment that can be arranged through Tish & Jeff. For Example: In house massage, horse riding and paella night to name a few. The short drive down to the town was pleasant and the locals were very friendly, considering neither Bushra nor I spoke a word of Spanish! There was a round church in the middle of the town which was very beautiful. The drive to Granada was pleasant and easy to get to with Jeff’s great directions. We spent the day there visiting the beautiful La Alhambra Palace and enjoyed a traditional hammam experience. Our relaxing girlie holiday was full of good food, lots of laughter & relaxation in a perfect peaceful setting, up in the mountains tucked away from others. Thank you, Tish and Jeff for making our stay a pleasant and memorable one. We will definitely be visiting again, only next time we’ll bring a few more girlies with us!! Bipasha

Utterly completely perfect.
Um.....how do you put into words a place that is beyond description? As my daughter succinctly put it " you do realise Dad, this place has just ruined any future villa holidays". How true. What the photos dont show are the views designed to make you into a slack jawed idiot!! Every direction you look in is an uninteruppted far reaching view , some to the sierra nevada some across the valley to olive groves some across to tiny white farmhouses miles in the distance. The website doesnt describe the walk down the flower crowded steps to the villa with the scent of lavender heady in the air, it doesnt describe the feeling of total isolation up at the pool where you only have 360 degree views and a moorish casita for when the sun is too hot and for playing children and a bar to sit at with a cold drink. Yes this place is like a 5 star hotel but without the other annoying guests. Everything is beautifully done from the paella meal and spanish guitar evening that Tish and Jeff organised for us, the horse riding in the sierra parapanda nearly 6000 feet up, to the stunning rooms all classicly and simpathetically decorated and our en-suite bathroom with a massive window from floor to ceiling height with views over the hills and a sunken bath. The photos and website only give a fraction of the beauty of this place and the quality of every aspect. This has been a perfect holiday worth far more than the cost of this villa. Tish and Jeff have obviously worked so hard on this place and are busy adding more spa areas (my wife loved her massage in the spa/massage room....and yes also with stunning views!!!) as for me and the 'lads' we so enjoyed the mountain bikes riding over to montefrio and a well earned cold beer or two. If you are considering, take the plunge and treat yourself and your family to a luxery villa where you feel as if you or on an island........with views! Utterly perfect!!

Magnifico,

A great autumn half term with two children
This is the second time we stayed at this cortijo, the improvements just keep coming. Our previous stay was in the early refurbishment of this old rural farm building. Jeff and Trish did warn us that there were a few areas still being finished, it all worked out very well for us and the kids had a great time. It really is very much as you see in all the pictures, a work of passion from the owners down a dirt track road bang in the middle of an olive grove. Oh yes, with a great view of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. (Which developed a snow cap during our stay after a couple of days rain). All the rooms are great, every thing was provided, even duvets on some of the colder nights. We stayed in the room with that great en-suite bathroom with the sunken bath and huge picture window with fantastic view of the countryside. Our kids (5yrs & 8yrs) slept in the room nearby. You will need a car to get anywhere since this Cortijo is in a very rural setting, we enjoyed scouting the local area and had no problem going to Torremolinos for days away at the beach, it's only about an hours drive on great new easy motorway roads. All in all, we had a lovely time the kids enjoyed it and the owners have invested a great deal of time and passion creating this very stylish and homely oasis. We will definitely be back...just to check-up on the updates!

Kiwi's in Montefrio
My partner and I had the absolute pleasure of staying in Cortijo Bujito. We arrived at night and so we had little idea of the surrounding area or what we were in for. We were greeted by the owners Jeffrey and Tish who were super friendly and helpful Our first nights stay was luxurious to say the least! The beds were huge and we both woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. Little did we know that we were in for a shock.... As I walked to the bathroom in the morning, I was greeted with the most stunning view ever right from the massive bathroom window! Basically, there were miles and miles of olive groves for as far as the eye could see. After getting outside and walking around it was clear that we were in complete isolation from other villas and houses. The house is surrounded by olive trees, almond trees, grape vines and all sorts of other beautiful plants. After speaking with Jeff and Tish, we went for a 30 minute stroll down through the mountains and valleys. We found a beautiful waterfall near an old house ruin. The water was freezing but we still had a very refreshing dip in the lagoon under the waterfall - this is where, incidentally I proposed to my partner, with only the company of the odd dragon fly. The town of Montefrio is a short 10 minute drive over hill - I was stupid and decided to run over - never again! So that run turned into another beautiful walk. The town of Montefrio is very cute and different. The people are very friendly and welcoming. One local showed us around the town and we visited the most stunning and unsusal church, Inglesia la Encarnacion. It's a huge dome style church & is the first landmark which welcomes you to the town as you come over the hill and slice through the valley to the heart Montefrio. In Montefrio we had a nice spanish breakfast and a cheeky beer for lunch. We fully reccommend staying at the lovely Cortijo bujito. Tish and Jeff were amazingly helpful and went out of their way to make our stay so memorable. It was just so nice to be left alone to take in the sun, swim in the stunning pool, have a bath with the ridiculously good view of the mountains yet in total privacy at the same time. Everything was at our disposal - the shower, kitchen facilities, massive movie theatre screen down in the morroccan room, quick internet, and again - the most comfy beds ever! Coming from New Zealand it's not easy for me to say this but yes the most beautiful place on earth. Kia Ora! Baz and Sherene

Little piece of heaven in Andalucia
We booked Cortijo Bujio for four in September 2011. It's an easy enough drive from Malaga airport - even easier from Granada airport - and although you have easy road links to Granada and Cordoba, the house itself is off the beaten track. In fact, the setting is absolutely stunning. Olive groves and mountains as far as the eye can see, and you can watch the sun/moon come up over the hills from the terrace. The Cortijo itself is as good as it looks on the photographs. It's been done with real style and quality. All the rooms are good, but the upstairs one with its own private sitting room, sunken bath overlooking the hills, and private sunbathing terrace is a stunner. The only one slight quibble is that the electrics can be a bit tempermental, so beware using all appliances at once (the owners did warn us about this, and I think there are plans for a generator that will solve this problem). The main attraction outside is the Casita - the shaded seating area by the pool. It has a real southern Spain/Moroccan feel to it, and a lot of "wow" factor. (Good bragging rights on the photos when you get home). We didn't have kids with us, but there is a play area for littluns, and the pool area does have a gate, so whilst the style of the place has a very adult feel to it, you could bring smallees here no problem. There is a treatment room on site and you are offered the chance to book various massages when you confirm your booking. Three of us did, and we'd highly recommend it. We loved the pampering treatments, and the reflexology diagnosis (which one of us had) is uncannily accurate! The owners, Tish and Jeff, were great. They live in the nearest town and are very helpful. They gave us a map of Montefrio (nice small town, not touristy and really friendly locals), showed us where the shops were, and were at the end of the phone to help with anything we needed. The one time the electrics did have a wibble, they were straight there and sorted it out immediately. It's clear that creating this house has been a labour of love, and they really want you to have a good time. Downsides? None for us. You are away from it all, so you need a car and if you want a hustle and bustle holiday this isn't for you. If you want to drink good rioja in very special surroundings, chill, and have days out to Granada/Cordoba, we would absolutely recommend it. PS Must-do visit: the Alhambra (pre-book your tickets online)

Why they chose this property

My family bought Cortijo Bujio in 2017. We fell in love with Granada many years ago. With its breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada, Cortijo Bujio is an oasis of tranquility. Our beautifully renovated 1877 estate is located in the Parapanda Mountains, 1,300 meters above sea level, nestled among olive groves and old Spanish oak forests. Lovingly restored and beautifully furnished, our Cortijo captures the magic of the Moorish influence we love so much.
