About this property

Watch the badgers from the window in a beautiful & peaceful countryside setting

A warm welcome and a cream tea await your arrival at Badgers Holt which is situated next to the farm house of Buller Farm a relaxing, peaceful place in the centre of West Cornwall with direct access from the farm gate to bridleways and cycle paths which traverse the county giving many miles of walking or riding without using roads, ideal for exploring Cornwall's mining heritage which is now listed as a World Heritage Site. It is central for the beaches on both North and South Coasts, as well as Stithians lake for fishing and water sports, golf courses, Bissoe Bike Hire for exploring the old mining trails, The Eden Project, and many other gardens and attractions.
The south-facing sliding glass doors lead to a terrace which is a sun trap, here you can relax with garden chairs, a table, and a bar-b-cue. The first bag of charcoal is supplied. The large secluded back garden is for the sole use of the guests of Badgers Holt.
From the front window you can watch the badgers which come up to the house to forage for peanuts each night, they can usually be seen just after dusk each night. We can't guarantee that you will see them as they are wild animals, but all guests have seen them so far (see reviews). If you visit facebook.com/badgersholt you will be able to view a video of a badger rolling a hens egg across the lawn, recorded by one of our guests from the sitting room window.
Being newly built for 2014 Badgers Holt has all of the home comforts that you would expect from a first class holiday let. The fully tiled bathroom has a full size bath as well as a separate shower cubicle. Towels for washing are supplied as well as towels for the beach.
The accommodation is flexible with one bedroom having a king size bed and the other with zip-link beds to give two 3 ft singles or when there are two couples staying, one super king bed
When accompanied by the owners you will be able to visit the horses in the yard or fields and the chickens, ducks and geese. Fresh eggs straight from the nest boxes available.
There is plenty of room for parking for those who wish to bring a trailer or boat. Also, there is a container lock-up which can be used to store bikes, surf boards etc.

Badgers Holt
Excellent place, clean and tidy, owners very helpful and on site. Countryside around was great for walking in. Redruth central for the rest of cornwall so travelling was very easy, train from Redruth to St Ives is a must just for the scenes of beautiful countryside all . Truro a good place to visit . Overall very impressed with the cottage. will be coming back in warmer months. oh and night time is great , the badgers and the fox are out in full view, you spend hours watching them. If you like bird watching then the daytime is alive with them all around too.

Perfect holiday home
This holiday home was one of the best we have been to. Ideal for north and south coasts and indeed lands end. Built in recent years it was well furnished and laid out. Cosy in the evenings. Loads of crockery and utensils and pots and pans! We will be back.

A wonderful week at Badgers Holt
Anne and Graham welcomed us warmly to the building, and they provided everything we needed at the house. The building has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. Each bedroom had plenty of room for us and with everything being on a single floor it would make it ideal for those with mobility issues. The house comes complete with washing machine, dryer, dish washer, a barbeque, televisions. In the bathroom there is a power shower and a bath so it suited our needs. After the initial greeting and walkaround the house, Anne and Graham left us to ourselves, only asking if we wanted a badger alert - and that is the main attraction here. The owners are clearly animal lovers. In the morning you can watch a variety of British garden birds feeding on the feeders. We saw most commonly seen garden birds as well as a lesser spotted woodpecker. At dusk, from the front window you can see badgers, throughout our stay we saw between 2-4 badgers every night. On the last night we saw two foxes as well. If you're exploring Cornwall, Badgers Holt is a great base to start from. Just outside of Redruth, it's a few minutes from there to the A30, the main road through Cornwall. My family and I loved Badgers Holt and we can't wait to stay there again.

A wonderful holiday
What to say that hasn't already been said by previous reviewers? Well, we loved our stay at Badger's Holt. The cottage was clean, well-equipped, comfortable. The back garden was perfect for our 2.5 yr old to run around in (there are some stone steps up to the lawn, but for safety we were able to just block them off with the garden chairs to avoid little legs running down them). Anne and Graham were lovely hosts - they were engaging with our little boy, which made the stay more special for him. They checked with us regularly to ensure everything was ok, but not in an intrusive way. And the wildlife - well, such a special thing to be able to see badgers up close. Anne kept the bird feeders well stocked too - I've never seen so many goldfinches in my life! We were out and about on day trips most days and found the central location convenient. Most places we visited were no more than 20/30 mins away. But the time we did spend at the cottage was very relaxing and peaceful. A lovely little part of the world...

Magical Hidden Gem
The property is very clean and comfortable. There are all the amenities you need in the kitchen. The cottage is also a lot more spacious than it appears in the photos. It has the added extras of a HUGE variety of wild life, including birds, foxes, rabbits, and of course, the stars of each evening show, The Badgers! They were brilliant to watch. Anne and Graham gave us a very warm and friendly greeting on our arrival, with a gift of a cream tea, fresh milk in the fridge, and eggs from their own chickens. They are a lovely couple, who have worked very hard in making this property the best holiday cottage we have stayed in. Because of its beautiful secluded position, it makes the perfect place for a total relaxing break, whilst being centrally positioned if you want to explore Cornwall. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return again in the future.

Secluded cottage in farm
We had a relaxing stay watching badgers from our front window in the evening. The cottage has excellent facilities, esp. a good shower! Hospitality from the owners, who live next door, was wonderful. We went home with farm eggs.

An Excellent Place to Stay
Badgers Holt was just what we were looking for. A 2 bed bungalow, all on one level (I went with my elderly mother). We had parking and everything was very convenient. The bungalow itself was generously proportioned with two good sized double bedrooms, plus a large open-plan lounge, kitchen, diner. We had views out the front (where we did see a badger one evening) and French doors out the back, with a large private garden for our use (if it hadn't been November!!). We had a properly stocked kitchen, which enabled us to cook a roast dinner, and a dishwasher so we didn't have to do all the washing up. The property was large enough for us to move around with ease, was warm and cosy with central heating but also a lovely gas-fired wood-burner effect stove. All in all a lovely property and we will definitely be back to visit in the future.

Beautiful
Lovely, comfortable cottage in a wonderfully peaceful location. Anne and Graham the perfect hosts. Little touches like a cream tea ready and waiting for us, milk and teabags and basics like loo rolls just shows the owners really care about their guests. As has already been mentioned watching the Badgers at night is delightful to see. Thank you Anne and Graham for making us feel so welcome. Hope to see you again next year. Dave & Brenda

Lots of attention to detail everything you could possibly want. Fortunate enough to see badgers every night. Rural setting just minutes from town. Very friendly owners so special for my Aunty to get a lovely card and Cornish fudge for her 90th birthday thanks for that thoughtfulness. Definitely on our list to go back to. One of the best places we have stayed in. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely corner of the world.

Fantastic property in a great location
Badger's Holt is one of the nicest places we have ever stopped in. The property is immaculate it's clean, tidy and well equipped. Anne and Graham are great hosts, they are around but not intrusive like some owners we have come across from time to time. The property has a lovely secluded garden which is a real sun trap, and the swingball kept us occupied!!! From a location point of view Badger's Holt is a perfect base to explore Cornwall, 20 minutes to Falmouth and St Ives and around 45 mins to Lands End/Lizard point. We will definitely be stopping here again next time we holiday in Cornwall.

Just Perfect, property, Location, lovely Host´s
We had perfect holidays in Badgers Holt, the property very well equiped, clean and right in the middle of Cornwell, so all destination which we want to visit have been not more than 1 hour away. Anne and Graham have been very lovely and nice to us, we had every evening the chance to watch 1-3 Badgers they visited the property at 22:30 (+- 15min :-) ) We love to come back, Thank you very much indeed. Peace & Quiet in the Cornish Countryside
We chose to stay at Badgers Holt because it is very near where our daughter lives but it is actually well placed for visiting the north and south coast. The bungalow is impressive set in lovely peaceful surroundings with the added attraction of the nightly visits of the badgers who feed on the lawn in front of the bungalow. Anne and Graham are very welcoming and have fitted out the bungalow to a high standard with all you could need. We were lucky with the weather and were able to take advantage of the footpaths in the area.

Absolute bliss!
we had the most amazing 2 weeks at this delightful cottage. Great location to explore all parts of Cornwall with ease. The owners, Anne & Graham are so warm and friendly - they are there on hand if needed but never in your way. The kids loved the beautiful back garden where we made the most of utilising the bbq and the swing ball that Anne provided. The cottage itself is immaculate and had everything we needed for our family of four. A treat to see the Badgers each evening - regular as clockwork! We would definitely like to return to this gem.

A restful setting and very kind hosts
This is a lovely property - just as described, it is peaceful and beautifully presented. Anne and Graham were wonderful hosts, always ready to give advice and to let us know when the badgers were around. The central position is excellent for those interested in visiting a range of different beaches, walking stretches of the coastal path or cycling on the many routes accessible from the front door. The cycle routes were ideal for exploring the amazing mining heritage of the Redruth area. Access to Falmouth, Truro and St. Ives was easy. We wish we could have stayed longer and explored more!

Excellent!
We had lived in Cornwall for 20 years and after 8 years away, we wanted to catch up with friends and get some much needed R&R. Badgers Holt is a perfect location for exploring West Cornwall, with easy access to the A30, Truro and Falmouth. The accommodation is modern and perfect, as are the facilities and the outdoor spaces, including the lovely private garden to the rear. Anne and Graham are the perfect hosts, that are there to please, without intruding; nothing is too much trouble. Five stars are well justified and nobody should be disappointed. Colin & Dot.

Brilliant
This location is the very best for peace, relaxation and tranquility. You will be made very welcome by your wonderful host's Anne & Graham. We were treated to a lovely welcome with a Cornish Cream Tea. Anne & Graham will do anything to make your stay even more enjoyable. Then the added bonus of the wildlife with nightly visits from the badgers right outside your window. Centrally located to visit anywhere in Cornwall. Highly recommended.

About the host

Hosted by Anne Wills

Host profile image
We are Anne and Graham and have owned Buller Farm for over 14 years and run it as an equestrian yard. When we bought the farm the house and the land was semi-derelict and it took several years to clear the fields and re build the farm house. It has been worth all of the hard work as it is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. We built Badgers Holt on the site of the old milking parlour and finished it in May 2014. We love to share the tranquillity of our home and ask that you respect the peace and quite, it is not the place for loud music,

We look forward to meeting you and hope we can help you to have a relaxing and refreshing holiday and like us you will fall in love with this 'Piece of Heaven'.

Why they chose this property

It's simply unique, people just love the setting and tell us we are so lucky to live here. The icing on the cake is the nightly visits to the garden by the badgers, all of our guests have been thrilled to get such a close up view of them.
