Week on a sheep farm
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage in the Peak District! It was beautifully renovated & had all the comforts of home! We would definitely consider staying again & enjoying the farm a little more! With the hosts directions we had no trouble finding our way!

Property was cold, owner unconcerned
The property itself could be lovely, but was not suitable for us. The biggest issue for us was that it was cold. The floor was cold which surprised me as it has underfloor heating. Also the air in the room was cold which is the opposite of the reviews of warm and cosy. We asked the owner whether he had any heaters, he said he would look but did not come back to us that evening or the following morning. The shower room had mildew and old soap scum (pink) on the tiles, and there is now a transparent shower curtain, which was not on the photos, and was quite dirty. Our daughter has allergies and these were triggered by something that evening. (She has a confirmed allergy to dust mites). We do not go on holiday to watch TV, but we would point out that there was no signal, although there are plenty of dvds to watch. Our Granddaughter was cold and miserable as were we, so we packed up and left the next morning, we had booked four nights. I emailed that we had departed early, and this is day four after leaving and have not received any correspondence back. This is the first time I have ever left a property after one night.

Lovely barn and location
Really lovely barn conversion, spotless and comfortable with lots of nice touches like toys for children. It’s a working farm with a very hospitable host, Neil is really helpful and friendly, there are lots of great walks nearby and a pub in the next village that does good food and has a micro brewery with excellent beer. We had a lovely short break, thank you Neil!

Farm cottage
Very nice clean and airy converted barn set adjacent to farmers house. Solid floors and furniture. Sloped ceilings in main bedroom and bathroom (mind your head!). Long rough track to farm. Very quiet. Away from any main roads. Great outlook all around the farm. Lambs made us smile by nodding living room window and watching us & TV! Recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in this cottage .It was extremely well equipped with everything you would need for a comfortable stay, Very clean and well decorated with comfy beds and a great shower. We also loved the outside seating and dining space behind the cottage .Could not fault this in any way, and will certainly book again if we are in the area.

Our stay in Buxton
The cottage is lovely. Very clean and very quiet. We had problems finding it though, because it is so remote that our SatNav couldn't find it at all. The instructions were not detailed, so our host had to guide us on the telephone. We advised him to give guests the coordinates to help them find his lovely holiday home.

A Wonderful Retreat
We loved our stay at the farm. Neil and his family made us feel very welcome. They answered all our questions about the farm and animals. The kids were able to help with farm chores, and we all pet the sheep and dogs. There is also a zipline for those willing to go flying across the yard. My kids loved it. They can’t stop talking about the whole visit. As for the property, it is gorgeous - lush fields surrounded by stone walls, historic homes and farms, sheep and cattle grazing all over. The cottage has views of it all. Just as important, it is the best appointed VRBO we’ve stayed in. We didn’t want for anything, and it was spotless. Neil and his family have thought of everything. If you want an amazing retreat, in a beautiful location, this is the place. We will definitely be back.

Super property for discovering the Peak District.
Lovely converted barn with all mod cons for discovering the Peak District. Beautiful scenery, very friendly hosts, freedom to walk round the farm, see, and help with farming activities if you want. 😀. If its peace, and quiet, in a remote location, this is perfect. My only negative. The long farm track down to the farm, is not suitable for a sports coupe.

Tranquility
The twisting staircase probably makes it unsuitable for the mobility impaired. Hosts are very welcoming and willing to share their farm with visitors. It has everything a child could wish for- swings, zip wire, trampoline, animals. The farm is off the beaten track and the barn has been beautifully and tastefully converted.theand is a haven for wildlife.both flora and fauna!

Amazing Half Term break!
From the minute we arrived at Big Fernyford Farm we were in love! It was exactly what we’d imagined! The cottage was fantastic, fully equipped with everything we needed. Neil and Dorota were brilliant hosts and were always there to answer any queries we had. We loved walking their dogs everyday and exploring the farm. The kids especially loved playing in the zip wire and in the tree house. They were even lucky enough to be taken out on a quad bike to feed the sheep! We cannot wait to come back 😃 Thank you for everything xx

Wonderful stay!
We have stayed in several self catering properties both in the UK and in Europe. This certainly counts as one of the best. This was our first holiday since Covid and as a doctor booked this holiday with much trepidation. But I should not have been worried, the cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped for all self catering needs. Both Dorota and Neil are fantastic hosts always ready to help.

This is an excellent property, very comfortable and well appointed. It's situated near many local beauty spots including Dovedale, Ilam etc and also good for walking from the front door. The owners are friendly and there is plenty of local info available. Wi fi and phone coverage can be a bit patchy.
