About this property

Old Fisherman's Cottage with Sun Deck Offering Sea Views of St Mawes Harbour

Fisherman's Cottage is a charming property just a stone's throw from the sea in the oldest part of St Mawes village. The perfect place to relax and enjoy all the stunning Roseland Peninsula and picturesque St Mawes has to offer.

What's great about Fisherman's Cottage is that its a really cosy, homely environment, tucked away on a quiet street; yet its practically bang in the middle of the lively seaside village of St Mawes, with beaches, pubs and restaurants just a couple of minutes walk away.

The cottage, along with the others in the same street, was built in the 1700s to accommodate local fishermen. We renovated the cottage in 2013, creating a warm, comfortable modern interior, whilst retaining its original character and features.

The front stable door opens on to a large bright sitting room area with loads of sofa space and a lovely log fire. There is a TV, Blu-ray player and Amazon Fire box tucked discretely away in the corner cupboard - just in case you're unlucky with the weather, or just fancy a bit of lounging!

Music lovers are also well catered for with a new 120W Panasonic Hi-Fi with Bluetooth, DAB and CD.

To the rear of the sitting room is a kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is new and well equipped. There is slimline dishwasher, fan oven, induction hobs, toaster, kettle, filter coffee machine and microwave.

Through the kitchen is a small utility area with the washer/dryer which opens to the sun deck at the rear of the cottage and a downstairs loo.

The sun deck is really the jewel of the cottage's crown. There's a great view of the harbour and sea beyond, a table for some al fresco dining and a BBQ for those lazy summer evenings.

Upstairs, the large double bedroom is a decent size, with plenty of storage space. There is also a more compact double room - the bed here is only accessible on one side - and a twin bunk room at the rear of the cottage.

The bathroom is bright and fresh and has a bath with a shower over.

WiFi is provided. We now have BT Infinity installed, so you can expect download speeds of 40Mb - more than enough for HD streaming and multiple users.

Cordless phone with caller display/answerphone for incoming calls.

The back of Fisherman's Cottage has a fantastic decked area, where you can relax with a glass of wine, watching (but not hearing) the hustle and bustle down on the harbour below, and boats further out to sea. The path out to the street at the rear of the cottage also presents excellent opportunities to sneak out to The Rising Sun pub or Idle Rocks Hotel, both just 50 meters from the back gate!

Lovely June break
The cottage was wonderful - well equipped and comfortable. We loved being able to cook together and the sun deck was fabulous. Parking was a bit tricky but it did not spoil the holiday. Wonderful location and weather - brilliant holiday. Thank you Danny.

Lovely stay
We enjoyed our stay, the only complaint was the main bedroom bed was very small but this is personal taste rather than a failing on the cottage.

Lovely cottage.
Right in the centre of the village. It was so lovely to be able to walk to the harbour and beach within minutes. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfy with lots of space for a small family.

Lovely cottage in fabulous location
We had a fantastic week in fishermans's cottage. The property is well located just a short distance from the harbour (albeit up a quite steep hill) and within easy reach of some lovely beaches and coast walks. It is also very comfortable and well equipped. Danny was great to deal with, would definitely recommend and hope to return one day!

Great location and lovely cottage
We really liked this place - spent week here late April - early May. We were just a couple so had lots of room. We arrived and the place was very clean and well equipped. It is a few hundred yards from the waterfront of St Mawes with ver nice views of the town from the kitchen and the outside deck. Very quiet street and parking at this time of the year was easy using the assigned space. It is a great base for exploring the peninsula and taking the passenger ferry across to Falmouth. Some very good restaurants in the area and of course pubs. Danny was easy and prompt in all his dealings with us.

Very comfortable cottage
We stayed at the cottage during a four night coast path stay. St Mawes is perfectly placed for doing this in winter when the Place seasonal ferry is not running and you can get across to Falmouth. The cottage itself is handily situated in St Mawes, a couple of minutes from the shops and banks. It is well equipped and we really appreciated the extras like linen provision, teabags, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets which were all provided. Parking was no problem in winter and we had three cars with us, we had one car outside and two on the street below. I would love to come and stay again but we are continuing along the coast. Highly recommended.

A Fishy Tale!
This was our second visit to Fisherman's Cottage (the first being in June 2015) and after a pretty horrid journey, due to weather and road works, we were only too happy to stumble over the thresh-hold of this lovely property and settle down to a fish pie in the delightful kitchen! On both occasions the cottage has been clean and tidy, the bedrooms made up with clean, fresh linen and the bonus of hand and bath towels in the upstairs bathroom and downstairs loo are very welcome. The kitchen is really well kitted out, with dishes, plates and cutlery etc for every culinary need! There is a washing machine/dryer and dishwashing machine, which makes life very easy when you are on holiday. The deck is a suntrap, especially in the afternoons, and we were lucky enough to be able to sit out and make use of it. St Mawes is a pretty little harbour village with some lovely walks close by. We took the Place ferry over to Place and enjoyed a picnic at St Anthonys Head. One can also walk further to Port Scatho and find the Hidden Hut - on this occasion we drove as the weather was not particularly good on the day we chose to go. The Idle Rocks is very handy to walk down to and enjoy a G&T on the terrace looking out at the sea, as is the St Mawes Hotel. We also enjoyed a splendid meal at the Watch Tower - well worth a visit as it was absolutely delicious and service was first class. Scrummy bread and croissants can be bought daily at the bakery on the Quay - the croissants are particularly edible! We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at Fisherman's Cottage, am sure it will not be our last! Thank you to Danny for letting us stay in his lovely cottage, which is an absolute delight.

Back again!!!!
Adore this cottage and had another fabulous week here. Compact, cute as a button with an excellent kitchen, lounge, sun kissed terrace - location perfect just metres away from our favourite restaurant at Idle Rocks and favourite pub , The Rising Sun! If you're a rugby fan the excellent Bohella club just 25metres away is a great place to watch the game and the locals are awesome. Location brilliant for a ferry hop to St Anthony Head on the peninsula - beautiful walks and stunning beaches. Friends mistook my Facebook pictures for the Med! Wifi in the cottage is excellent and the TV services are ace - Netflix always a bonus We will be back for sure x

Fabulous
We had a fantastic time at the cottage. It's a very good size for a fisherman's cottage, clean, comfortable and the location is excellent - just two minutes walk from the centre of the village and the Idles Rocks restaurant (recommended for lunch). It's up quite a steep hill but it only take a minute and it's not a problem for anyone but the very infirm. Best of all is the cottage's wonderful sun-deck. We loved having our breakfasts here and sitting out with a book and a drink. The TV also has Netflix which was a nice surprise. We've stayed in lots of Cornish cottages but Danny's cottage is up there with the best of them. A great choice for anyone who wants to come to beautiful St Mawes.

Wonderful cottage, and location
We love this cottage for it's location and views of the Harbour and beyond from the terrace. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen which looks over the terrace. The smaller bedroom had 2 bunkbeds squeezed in and the other 3 are well presented and light. The village is easily accessible, everything is walking distance.

Excellent holiday cottage
Fishermans Cottage in St Mawes, Cornwall is in an excellent position just off the centre of the village but from the decking at the rear you have an amazing view of the harbour. There is everything inside the cottage, from the kitchen to the lounge to the bedrooms that you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable. I feel it cannot be bettered in any way.

Great property, good location
This is a small house in a terrace, up a short hill just off the sea front in St Mawes. It's suitable for 2 couples (possibly 3 if a pair doesn't mind bunks!) or a family. The bathroom is large and well ventilated (You can open 2 windows!) There is also a downstairs toilet and washbasin. The beds are comfortable, the linens good quality and there is plenty of hanging space. The living room has plenty of seating and in addition to the tv, wifi etc the owner has thoughtfully provided jigsaws games etc. The kitchen is very well appointed, with good quality appliances and kitchenware. There is a huge deck outside with table and chairs and a barbecue. It was great to sit in the evening with a spritz watching the sea and the comings and goings on the seafront. We accidentally left some silver bangles, these were returned by post to us immediately. Thank you Danny!

Home from home
My husband and I booked 2 weeks at Fishermans cottage in March 2016 and would highly recommend it! The property was so clean it was sparkling when we arrived, with plenty of crockery and cutlery, fresh clean towels in every room and ample books! The location is fantastic, just minutes away from hotel bars and restaurants and 2 minutes walk from the harbour. We will definitely be returning!
