The apartment is on the top floor of an ancient building in the old town of Menton directly behind Eglise St. Michel. It has a charm of its own, being converted into one large studio, capturing both the view of the sea-scape, rooftops as well as lemon and orange groves and up to the old cemetery. The apartment is quiet, peaceful and spacious and yet is in the heart of this wonderful town. Menton provides all year round cultural interests. A wealth of exhibitions, museums, galleries, music events to suit all tastes, sports events, gourmet restaurants and many long established gardens that are open all year round. Transport by bus and train to hill villages, surrounding areas of charm and across the boarder into Italy are affordable and frequent. The microclimate makes it a perfect holiday destination at any time of the year.

Perfect
We stayed there for one week recently. We were greeted at the apartment and shown the layout. The location is perfect, being on a pedestrian only street and just a few minutes from the town and shops. My husband enjoyed sitting in the chair by the open window watching the changing sky and sea as well as being able to look up to the lemon and orange groves to the old cemetery. A light, clean and airy apartment. Looking to book for next year. Diane and Reg B

This is in a lovely part of old Menton. We did have difficulty with the steep winding stairs into the 3rd floor apartment, we are both in our 80s. We had trouble signing into the Wifi but the issue was resolved by the very helpful agent. We also had difficulty with the toilet, the water kept flowing after flushing, finally the water stopped all together. A plumber never arrived before we left. Kitchen well equipped, shower very small. Overall, quiet, beautiful neighborhood. Owner and agent very helpful.

You are paying for the view!
The property is in the old town of Menton. This means that the roads to it are very steep, with lots of steps. In fact, cars cannot get closer than about 200m from the property - so beware if you have large or heavy luggage. The property is on the second floor with a stunning view across the roofs and out to sea. The shutters are fragile and should only be opened with care. We were warned to fix the windows back if we opened them (bits of string provided), otherwise they might bang and break the glass. The stairs (no lift) are VERY steep and narrow, with a thin hand rail, and unlit at night. Not for people with mobility issues. The property is ONE ROOM + a tiny bathroom. Two single bed-chairs (not made up before our arrival) and two ordinary sofas. So really only a 2-bed property. Shower is tiny and difficult to get in and out of. Black mould. No bidet or douche. Appliances that we used worked; one dangerous standard lamp, don't use it! Plenty of plates, cooking utensils, towels, sheets &c. Strangely, there was very little toilet paper provided.

Schöne kleine Wohnung in perfekter Lage

Spacious old town studio with stunning sea views
The apartment is a spacious studio well situated in the old town of Menton with superb views over the old town to the sea and citrus garden to the front. It is within walking distance of the market, the seafront and the main tourist attractions of Menton. Jill, the owner, was charming and handled check-in and the apartment has the feel of her second home rather than a dedicated holiday rental. This has both advantages and disadvantages. Although overall we felt at home and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again, there were a few negative aspects to the apartment. The apartment is very well equipped, but some of the equipment was well used and a little tired. In particular, both the boiler and oven were noticeably noisy. The boiler heated the apartment efficiently (we visited in February) but fired up every few minutes unless the heating was turned off. Part of the oven (we think it was the rotisserie) made a continuous noise even if not in use if there was power to the oven. We had to turn both off at night (the oven at the fuse box) to allow my wife to sleep. The double bed was actually two single sofa beds but we found them comfortable. We found the staircase to the apartment within the building to be quite steep with narrow steps in places and uneven step heights. It could be a problem for someone with mobility issues. Overall, we would particularly recommend the apartment for couples. It might also suit families with up to two children who are happy to all sleep in the same room.

Stylish Provence Apartment
This is a very well equipped, large, comfortable apartment in the most interesting part of Menton. The views are amazing, from the dining table and the sofa you can look out across the roof tops to the sea. The apartment includes beach items, an interesting book case and a kitchen with everything you need, so it's possible to make the most of the local market. We've already booked for next year.

winter break
We gratefully passed the winter months of 2015 - 16 in this sunny studio at Menton. The studio is of generous proportions and it's great advantage is that, although not directly on the coast, it has a wonderful sea view to one aspect and a view onto orange and lemon trees on the other. The apartment is well situated in a quiet corner of Menton's picturesque old town, close to the shopping centre and a variety of restaurants. We were very comfortable throughout our stay and found that the apartment was a good base from which to explore the region, including the surrounding hill villages some of which are within walking distance. It has been a wonderful few months and we hope to visit again!

Comfortable French studio.
We stayed in this lovey, quaint studio/apartment for the week and had a wonderful holiday. The studio/apartment was spacious and well positioned in the old part of Menton, only a few minutes away from the beach. It was well equipped with all we needed for our stay. I would recommend anyone wanting to stay in Menton and not willing to pay the earth in rental to stay here. Well worth the price in this most beautiful town. Will be back as soon as we are able to. Jill, thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

I first visited Menton in 1980 for a summer French language course and repeated that wonderful experience for many years, also taking my two sons with me for a month. When I retired from teaching I dcidd I should buy a small property there to continue our experience, I have since enjoyed many wonderful times at Menton always accompanied with friends. Lots to do for both children and adults.

Why they chose this property

It is an old property in the heart of the historic area, a pedestrian only road so quiet and it overlooks the roof tops to the sea. Behind it looks up to the old cemetery to orange and lemon groves. My bought this property after spending many years in Menton on a summer language course. There is so much to do in the area both summer and winter. Lots of museums and art galleries, gardens, wonderful hill top villages to explore and marvellous walks both along the coast and inland. The transport is frequent going right along the coast and into Italy where the culture is so different.

What makes this property unique

I enjoy the quiet of the location and the fact that each morning presents a different sky and look of the sea. It is just 5 minutes to the centre of town and equal distance to the beach. One could never believe you are in the heart of Menton.
