Our family of 9-11 travels somewhere new every 2 years and rents a home from VRBO to stay in. This is the fourth time we've done this, and this house was BY FAR the cleanest we've ever stayed in. It was also BY FAR the most well-stocked in terms of us not having to bring anything extra . . . beach towels, linens, soap, shower gel, shampoo/conditioner, huge First Aid Kit. And I haven't even gotten to the kitchen! Two full racks of cooking spices, cooking oils and sprays, storage and cooking/serving containers, condiments in fridge, basic pantry items, coffee/tea, and on and on. We couldn't believe it. It truly made the meal prep and kitchen time so much less stressful for us
The home is even more beautiful than it looks in the pictures and we felt right at home. The main floor porch/balcony is gorgeous and takes full advantage of the view of the pristine Hebgen Lake and the mountains all around it. Sunsets are a must! We used the gas grill several times, and the kids had the best time watching the bats come in to roost at dusk. The kids also enjoyed the fire pit and s'mores, as well as the big back yard where they played all sorts of sports and such.
The owners, Betty and Steve, could not be nicer people. Check in was a breeze, they left S'mores ingredients on the kitchen counter as a welcome, and although we didn't need much during our stay, the couple of times we had a question or needed help they responded immediately. Steve also lent us a fishing rod so we could take the kids on their first lake fishing experience.
We appreciated that there was a huge book full of info sheets, maps, brochures, price lists etc in the kitchen. It helped us decide on some things and/or vendors. We brought the "Hiking Yellowstone" book we found in the great room with us in the car for four days of Park exploration. Highly recommend, and that should be included in the description of the amenities on VRBO because there is so much info in the house to help you make the most of your time there.
Location gets 4 stars only because the house is on a highway, which wasn't super clear to us in the description, and although you overlook the Lake, there's no access directly (and the Lake is across the highway), so we were a bit disappointed about the reality vs. what the site implied. But it's a short drive to the West Gate of YNP and all sorts of activities and places. A wonderful place to stay if you want to explore the Park
