A beautiful cottage situated in the heart of Eyam. 1 Lydgate Cottage has everything and more than you need for a peacefull and comfortable stay. Many walks from your doorstep and others a very short drive away. This cottage and local shops/pub all welcoming and dog friendly. Thanks Peter and Sandra for a lovely stay.
Clean, comfortable and with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. We really loved our week staying in this cottage.
Easy to find in a great location just off the square near to cafes and pub. The proprietors are so helpful and welcoming making arriving easy and informative.
Eyam village was a brilliant base to visit the surrounding countryside with beautiful walks, villages and caverns, so much to do and all in close proximity.
The village itself has so much history, friendly locals, especially in the Miners Arms. Thoroughly recommend
A fabulous cottage with everything you could want or need and more. Extremely comfortable throughout and in a lovely area where everyone is friendly. Peter & Sandra have gone over and above to ensure that guests have everything they need. Great food at The Miners Arms and both local Tea Shops
Easy to rent. Above expectations! Peter and Sandy have everything we’ll organized and sent information about the history of Eyam prior to our arrival. We mentioned a few places we were interested in seeing on arrival and were amazed to receive links to to train information and routes a few hours later.
It is clear that they want you to have the best experience possible.
We really enjoyed our stay in Eyam. Peter showed us the house and we were a little early but as the house was ready it benefitted both of us to get the keys then.
Lovely area with plenty of walks from the doorstep and a tea room on the square 20 metres from the house.
Wifi good, I'd recommend bringing your own fire stick or equivalent to watch whatever your subscribed to as there is a freesat box and dvd player but I couldn't find a way to watch netflix. I may have missed something not that it mattered as we had great weather and been very busy visiting places. Plenty to do.
Already missing the Peak Districts we will definitely consider staying again. Evie my 5 yr-old was sad to leave and she said to me "should we leave some food for Peter in the fridge before we go". 😄
Perfectly placed cottage in the village of Eyam to explore the surrounding Derbyshire peaks on foot, car or public transport. Bus links in the village and train about 10 min drive at Grindleford.
You are surrounded by many an edge and moore to attempt according to your ability or just a leisurely stroll along the river Derwent will take you to Chatsworth and Bakewell down stream or turn upstream and you come to the busy bustling centre of Hathersage.
The cottage has everything you need from scissors to top of the range fitted kitchen.
The rooms feel like you have just stepped back to your Gran"s cottage and even has its own pay phone.
All rooms are clean and the whirlpool bath on the ground floor was bliss after walking many a mile up hill.
The little garden across the road from it is a great sun spot to sit in and watch the comings and goings on the village square.
This is a lovely cottage in a fantastic location on the square in Eyam. Leaving the cottage you are a few steps away from tea rooms, the village shop and buses running to Sheffield and Buxton if you don't fancy driving for a day.
The cottage has its own off street parking just across from the house.
The presentation of the house was immaculate. It is well furnished with what looked like a very new kitchen. Everything in the house worked and it was spotlessly clean throughout.
Although it is on the square, the house was extremely quiet. The main bedroom is large and comfortable with great views across Eyam Square.
We had a nice warm welcome from Peter and Sandra.
Great wi-fi too.
This well-appointed cottage provided us with everything we needed for an extended stay. Beautifully appointed kitchen, reliable hot water, effective heating, comfortable beds. Peter and Sandra were exemplary landlords.
Perfect position for me in the pretty village of Eyam for exploring north & south Peak District. Perfect host with shop, pub & cafe's on doorstep. Short drive for local towns and villages, walks, trails and attractions. Enjoyed the whirlpool bath for tired legs! Nice, modern kitchen.

Really well positioned in Eyam village, cosy and well equipped
We had a super week in Eyam. The property was cosy and well equipped. The lovely owners were there to greet us and show us around on arrival. Central village location with a regular bus service. Good pub across the road and a brewery in the village too! Loads of good walks and everyone very friendly

cosy & comfortable
The cottage was cosy & comfortable. The owner was there to greet us upon our arrival & gave us a detailed tour as to where to find everything & also outlined the nearby places to visit. This cottage is central to the high peaks & the local pub the Miners Arms serve lovely meals & is dog friendly. We were made to feel welcome by the locals & we will definitely be returning in the future

Great location, well equipped but no wifi
Right in the centre of the village, the cottage was well equipped. I would say it was quite compact and 4 adults might find it a bit small. Two adults and 2 children would probably be fine though. The owners have thought of pretty much everything. There was a bottle of wine and some milk and biscuits left for us which was a very nice touch. The decor was quite dated and a bit dark downstairs but that is personal taste so I wouldn't mark it down for that. The bed was very comfortable and there was a choice of lightweight and warmer weight duvets. There was a TV in every room. The kitchen equipment was quite old but it all worked perfectly well. The downstairs bathroom might put some people off. It had a whirlpool bath and a shower.
The village is lovely, with 2 tearooms, one of which sells fresh bread and cakes, etc; a dog-friendly pub selling very nice food, a village shop and a shop a little further out that had fresh veg. There is a Jacobean Hall and gardens, the Eyam museum, the plague cottages and a craft centre selling local cheese, real ale and knick knacks, etc.
We went for the walking and it was very good right from the village. The village is well placed for visiting much of the Peak District. Buses run through the village throughout the day.
The only negative (a big one for us but may be a blessing for some) was that there was no phone signal and no wifi in the cottage. We use the internet for everything from maps to shopping to Googling places to visit, etc. The pub and tearooms had wifi so we went over there but it was a big negative for us. But a digital detox might be exactly what the next people want and be a positive selling point for them.
There is private parking opposite the house and a small grassy area which is up some steps and opposite the house too. If you take your dog you won't be able to let it out of the cottage alone as there isn't a fenced area.
But we had a great week in spite of the rain. The owners were lovely to deal with and very friendly and helpful.
Would we stay there again...? Yes, if there was wifi.

Great cottage and great location
The cottage is a brilliant base for visiting this area of the Peaks. The village has a good pub to eat at and you are central to Chatsworth, Castleton, Lady Bower etc. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could need for self catering. It is very clean and feels cared for by the owners. On arrival the owners had left tea coffee milk etc. The finishing touches make such a difference. And at the end of a long day walking the peaks you have a whirl pool bath to take your aches and pains away, and relax in front of an open fire.
