Wonderful Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hen House. The location is peaceful, and very relaxing. The accommodation is exactly as described and shown in the photos, but actually much bigger than expected. The kitchen is well equipped. While the weather wasn't great when we were there, it was very cozy sitting in front of the wood stove and listening to the rain on the skylights. There was a good stock of wood available, and we needed it! We did have some sun a few mornings, and our favorite memory is sitting eating breakfast with the morning sun streaming in through the windows. Nicki and Johnnie are wonderful hosts, introducing themselves and showing us where everything is, then pretty much leaving us to enjoy the space, which is well away from their beautiful home. The freshly laid eggs were delicious, as were Johnnie's sourdough and flap jacks. The location is very central, with an easy drive to the Malverns, Wye Valley, and Cotswolds, but you might find yourself just staying put and enjoying this beautiful place. Highly recommended! Thank you Nicki and Johnnie!!

Amazing Transformation!

A beautifully converted, light and spacious henhouse, equipped with everything one could possibly need, and more - the very welcome extra touches of fresh eggs, fresh-baked sourdough bread, flapjack and fresh flowers throughout. Johnnie and Nicki are outstandingly welcoming hosts; the place is quiet and peaceful - ideal for getting over jet lag; and the perfect location on a trip from Montana to visit friends in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Thank you both!

Lovely property

Really nice living room kitchen and bedroom, the bathroom could probably do with some updating. The owners were extremely welcoming and Johnnie does absolutely fantastic sourdough which is such a lovely treat. There was also milk, (delicious) flapjacks, eggs from their chickens and some homemade jam! All of those things always make an extra special holiday. Their spaniel Sid was absolutely adorable as well. The garden was beautiful to walk in with a really fun addition of a swing. Would recommend to anyone who wanted to stay in the area

Tranquility

What a stunning barn conversion. It really lived up to it's website description and more. With friendly hosts and excellent accommodation, including a few home made food gifts on arrival. I would highly recommend this property for a fab and chilled break away. Thank you, Nicki, Jonnie and Sid the spaniel for your hospitality. Will bisit again in the near future. P.s. Nicki - what was the instagram address for the art classes so i can follow your page. X

Perfect rural retreat

We had a brilliant time staying at the Hen House. Everything about it is perfect, from the warm welcome from Johnnie and Nicki to the peaceful location to the fresh sourdough (and other goodies) left as a welcome gift for us. We were very sad to leave, but will definitely return for another visit in the future.

Stylish and tranquil space

The old hen house was an exciting prospect judging by the lovely online pics, but it still managed to exceed expectations! Nickie and Johnnie are wonderful hosts, who have created a very special place. We absolutely loved staying there, and the attention to detail and delightful touches made it very special. I worried it may be a little chilly; in fact, it was the opposite as it's so well insulated and the light burner adds extra comfort and warmth very quickly. We will certainly recommend it to others and return ourselves in the future. Thanks both for a special few days of RnR!

Beautiful spot for some relaxation!!

We have just returned from an amazing stay at The Hen House. The property exceeded our expectations and all the extra touches, like the welcome pack, were a fabulous bonus! If you want a quiet place for relaxing and recharging your batteries, look no further. The beauty and silence of the setting are so refreshing, whilst still being within easy reach of some great places to visit. We plan to visit again, and bring our bikes. Nicki and Johnnie are great hosts, who make you feel so at home - thank you!!

Peaceful oasis

Spent a very enjoyable week in the Hen House, which benefits from not just one friendly, generous and supportive “super host” but two: Nicki and Johnnie. The Hen House was sparkling clean, amazingly cosy, even on a cool wet night in November, peaceful and a great base from which to explore Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire (including several amazing churches and the very picturesque market towns of Ledbury and Newent). We were particularly impressed with the wood-burning stove and the extremely well-equipped kitchen area - in which some “serious” cooking is easily possible. Overall, a great place to stay.

Autumn in the Hen house

The hen house was an amazing place to stay, the photographs truly don't do it justice. Inside it is quirky, bright and airy. Everything was as described, and we wanted for nothing. Nickie and her husband are a lovely, friendly couple, but leave you alone to enjoy your holiday. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay. We've shown all of our family and friends our photos and would definitely stay again.

Lovely place

The property is true to description on the site, it’s a really lovely converted barn, very comfortable and stylish. The setting is lovely, so calming with chickens, horses nearby and beautiful countryside. The hosts take care with the little extras such as home made bread and flapjacks among the provisions. The barn was scrupulously clean and everything needed was in place. Its situated kind of in between the Cotswolds and the Malvern hills so there is plenty nearby to enjoy. I can’t fault this place or the hosts and we would definitely book it again.

Beautiful modern cozy space set in glorious countryside

We really enjoyed our time at the hen house, we stayed for 2 nights in August. The house was protect for ALL of the weather types that we experienced over the weekend! So cozy with the log fire when torrential storms, and beautiful fields with horses to enjoy and outdoor seating for the sunny patches. The house is so well equipped, spacious and comfortable you really do feel at home. Delicious bread, flapjacks and bread provided which was really lovely. We hope to return again soon! Thanks so much for having us. Lucy, Nick and Lola

Married, and both my husband and I work from home. The Hen House is in the grounds of our property.
.
Having bought a house that needed modernising, and wanting to live on site, my husband was adament he could convert this former, uninspiring chicken shed into somewhere to live.

We loved living in the hen house and everyone was amazed at how light and spacious it was, so we decided to rent it out for others to enjoy.

We have enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life; artists, actors and musicians have all enjoyed the space, as well as walkers and those looking for a comfortable, peaceful retreat where they can lock the door and get away from it all.

What makes this property unique

Whether you are looking for a romantic bolt hole, somewhere quiet to work or study, or as a base for exploring the local area the Hen House offers spacious, light and airy contemporary accommodation in a peaceful, rural environment.
