About this property

Loved for Its Tranquility, exclusivity. Central location. Hot tub.

Hayguard Barn is a traditional stone built barn, constructed of old red sandstone which is a special feature of old local Pembrokeshire barns. It was converted back in the late 90s from a calves-cott and barley store loft .Offering spacious accommodation for 6+2 (2 at an extra cost). It occupies a beautiful private setting overlooking the pond and is naturally separated from the working part of the farm. The barn overlooks the pond with an array of wildlife. A spacious upside down house. The bedrooms and bathrooms are downstairs and upstairs is open plan living. Its uniqueness includes hand made ceramic tiles and pieces inspired by the sea, which can be seen around every corner of the barn. Including coiled and slab built sinks and light fittings made on site. It is designed to make maximum use of the light and space.
Wifi super fibre broadband. Its been said that it is nearly as fast as is what people get in their Cities. eg. London, Cardiff.
This farm, close to the wonderful Pembrokeshire beaches and the old port town of Milford Haven, has been in the family for generations. And it is the family who make it special. It is off the A4076 main road, which makes it an easy drive from the A40 of Haverfordwest, or the A477 from Pembroke Dock which takes you over the Cleddau bridge with the spectacular views of the Cleddau estuary and the ports of both Pembroke Dock where you might catch a glimpse of the Irish Ferry on its journey to and from Rosslare, Ireland, and Milford Haven.
When you arrive you will see the lawns and farmyard garden flow into the rich vegetation around the large pond with it’s water lilies and Irises. Around this area you may be greeted by our very friendly dogs Rodney, Madge, Mavis and Mostin. But if are unsure about them, we can put them away.
Check in at the farmhouse, then wander past the hens, and the waddling ducks, into your home for your holiday.
Just below your holiday home, just opposite the pond, you will see the Pond Studio, once a working farm workshop, which was once filled with old vintage tractors such as Nuffield and Fordson. Then it was transformed into a ceramic studio, where all the pieces you will see inside the barn were produced. There are still some there, some finished, some unfinished, but sadly none are for sale.
Today it's a Music, Games studio. One side, is a electric organ and piano, which can be used, but only under strict supervision with very young children.
The other side of the studio is a multi games table, which can be transformed from a Pool Table, to an Air Hockey Table and a Table Tennis Table, very popular with all ages, and perfect for those wet summer days or for those days when you would rather just relax in the barn .
On the wall is a TV which is connected to Sky Freesat, Bluray player, Surround sound system and a Nintendo Wii.
Below the TV, you will see an array of games for the wii and DVDs for all ages to watch and play.
Outside the barn is a hot tub. Introduced in 2021. a 6 seater cotswold eco, which is heated completely from fire wood. It is full of water ready for your use, you just need to heat it. Takes 2 hours to heat from cold, and hour to heat on consecutive nights. There is a charge of £10 per back of 12kg for the wood. This amount should be enough to heat at the beginning. Half of the amount should be enough when the water is lukewarm. It can be lit on your arrival, but most want o lit it themselves to get the full experience, but the kindling is already there to lit.
We charge for the wood for its use, as it is not included in the nightly rate, as not everyone wishes to use it.

Lovely short break
Very nice barn conversion, lots of extra features we didn’t really take advantage of like the hot tub, pizza oven and games room. It’d be an ideal place for a family. We were given loads of helpful tips by Phil and had a great stay. Thanks

Perfect character property acting as base for local exploring
The house was so lovely we could have spent the whole time there! Scenic grounds, garden for kids, playroom. Hot tub after nightfall, we’ve never seen so many stars! We’ll stocked kitchen (thank you coffee machine!), plenty of space for board games. Beautiful ceramic stoneware and tiles. Really helped us unplug from devices. Day trips: Dramway trail bike ride with kids ending at Saundersfoot beach. You have to see it to believe it, amazing views. National trust site Stackpole Quay and best beach in Wales Barafundle bay. Thank you Alison and Phil for your hospitality, can’t wait to come back to Pembrokeshire for longer next time.

Lovely quiet and peaceful barn
Lovely converted barn with hot tub not far from beaches and facilities but at the same time felt as if you are deep in the country side. 4 dogs roaming around were very friendly and chickens to feed for the kids. Games room has good pool table and air hockey and lots of random games and toys to explore and it's very spacious and couldn't believe it was just for our use. Phil and Alison were very welcoming and provided loads of tips on local days out. Hot tub took a fews days to master getting it going and how hot to heat to and when to stop adding wood but was a lovely option after a day out to relax. Kids also used the Wii in the evenings and moved from games room to barn as TV in games room didn't have scart or AV connectors but TV in barn did. Great location and would definitely return as loads to do in area.

Wonderful stay
The property had everything we needed and there was a real sense of outdoor space for the children (ages 7 - 9) to roam safely, they also loved the games room. The hot tub was a nice treat too. The owners were on hand if needed and very helpful. The property was clean and tidy and the rooms were all great. The beds were very comfy. The property was in a great location to get to lots of different beaches within 25-40 mins. The only thing we could have done with is an indoor airer for when it was raining and we couldn't hang the washing out. There is a tumble dryer though. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for your hospitality.

Beautiful comfortable barn conversion
This is a stunning property with wonderful hosts. The barn is exceptionally well presented, all the furniture and fittings are super comfortable and the unique ceramics and tiles make it so beautiful and tranquil. The barn was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a Christmas break with our family, including cooking Christmas Dinner. The beds are super comfy and all the bedding and textiles very high quality. We made use of the fabulous hot tub every evening and Phil was kind enough to light it for us for the first couple of times. Thank you Aliosn and Phil for such a warm welcome. We hope to be back soon.

Amazing house and location
This house is in a beautiful setting, very close to Milford Haven. The house itself was very clean with exceptionally comfy beds! The kids loved the upside down layout and during the heatwave the downstairs bedrooms stayed cool. The decoration is thoughtful with lots of handmade tiles, lights etc. The separate play room was great for the kids too! The owners were very friendly and on hand if needed. We would definitely stay here again xxx

Lovely place and a cut above
We had a great stay - the barn is nicely kitted out and cosy, with furnishings and ceramics that add a personal touch. The studio with pool table and musical instruments, and the pond and the daily parade of ducks and chickens also all add to the character of the place. Very close to great spots such as Dale, Stackpole and more. We recommend the nearby river estuaries for some lovely walks too. Thanks to Phil and Alison for your hospitality!

A welcome break
Thank you, Phil and Alison, for a lovely, relaxing stay at the farm. You gave us some great recommendations for places to visit during our stay and, despite the weather not being ideal, we got out and saw some stunning coastlines and beaches. The girls loved the games room, seeing a different beach every day, their gorgeous bedrooms and, of course, your lovely dogs! Thanks for the suggestion of The Shed in Porthgain on our final day - amazing fish and chips and the girls were very pleased with their ice creams. Your kindness and welcome were very much appreciated and I'm pretty sure we'll be back next year.

Fun and relaxing time
We had a fun week staying at the barn. The kids enjoyed roaming around, and playing with the dogs especially! Phil and Alison were very welcoming and gracious hosts and very happy to assist with local recommendations or small requests. The upstairs of the barn is a really nice space to relax in, and the games room is a bonus for a change of scene for bored children! It's really well located for seeing all of Pembrokeshire - nothing seemed more than 30 mins away.

Amazing accommodation in a wonderful setting with incredibly welcoming hosts
We have just returned from a new years break at Ford Farm. We were welcomed by our wonderful hosts Alison and Phil. What a lovely couple and so helpful in sending us in the right direction for some great locations and places to eat. Its lovely to feel like you come away as friends and that's exactly what this feels like. Their two wonderful dogs Rodney and Madge were there every day to welcome us and the children loved seeing them along with the ducks, chickens and Victoria and Albert of course! As for the property, well it is so comfortable and cosy. The real fire, that we managed to get going every night!, was a great edition to a lovely relaxing lounge area. The bright and spacious kitchen was great with everything we needed to feel like we were are in a real farmhouse kitchen. Great appliances and very modern supporting a real traditional feel, so beautifully done. The extra special touches around the place are wonderful such as the hand made tiles in the bathroom and the beautiful pottery pieces around the barn. Comfy beds and great to have three rooms giving the children a room each, and being twin beds in each an extra bed for my daughters teddy bear overnight - a real bonus in her eyes! The peace and tranquility is simply wonderful, it was exactly what we wanted to be able to escape the hustle and bustle of every day life. With the peace however, came the easy links to explore all of pembrokeshire. As first timers, we didn't know what to expect, but with the some help (Thx Alison and Phil) we were pointed in the right direction and discovered some amazing places. Tenby is a must, even in the cold December wind and rain, its a lovely work along the front and Fish and Chips in Tenby (D Fecci and Sons) were fabulous. Along the other coast, St Brides, little Haven and Broad Haven all wonderful. We also enjoyed Saundersfoot for another nice walk along the beach. Thanks to our hosts once again, we were tipped off about the New Years Day swim in Little Haven, what a great visit that was to see all these brave souls running into the freezing waters! In summary, a wonderful place to stay in a fantastic location with wonderful, warm and welcoming hosts. I simply cannot recommend this highly enough. We were a family of 4 (kids 12 and 9) and this was perfect! We'll be back for sure!

Fantastic stay for Pembrokeshire
A great barn conversion with fantastic facilities for the whole family. Our kids (age 8 and 4) have made me promise we will go back next year. Their highlight everday was feeding the ducks and chickens while stroking the very friendly dogs as a mor ing ritual. A warm welcome and friendly hosts ensured a great stay with some fantastic tips and advice on the area. Highly recommended

About the host

Host profile image
Hayguard Hay Barn is located in Ford Farm, which has been in the family for generations. We live in the traditional longhouse farmhouse which is set on a large farmyard surrounded by traditional lime washed barns with the distinctive Pembrokeshire red doors and windows. Around 30 years ago this farm was producing early Pembrokeshire potatoes, turkeys and milk to the nearby towns and communities. Today it is farmed and grows arable crops and offers grazing for dairy and beef cattle. for a nearby farmer, who also has a farm shop, with fresh pasteurised full cream milk, eggs and vegetables. Very popular with local families. We'll supply the glass bottle for the milk.

Why they chose this property

Hayguard Barn is the only holiday letting on site, and we as host are prepared to give you a very special holiday experience here in Pembrokeshire.
The red sandstone barn is big, light and upside-down, with the vaulted, open-plan living area gazing out over fields and farmhouse and buildings. Oak floors, local slate, a wood-burner and colourful unique ceramics give it a natural, warm feel.
The Bedrooms downstairs, are simple spaces of white plaster and colourful covers – but mostly you'll be upstairs or out on the lawn with the birds.
Here is what one previous guest said...
"Phil and Alison are wonderful and extremely warm hosts, the barn is a beautiful property and the farm a marvellous playground for adults and children alike. The location is perfect for a whole host of Pembrokeshire's finest sandy beaches: we loved Whitesands and Freshwater West."

What makes this property unique

There is nothing better than getting up to the early sunrise through the bedroom windows, turning the ducks out of their shed and watch them fly over towards the pond, then turning the chickens out to the lawn and watch them compete to catch the early worms with the blue tits and robins. Away from the peaceful farm yard there are an array of things to do. Coastal walking, windsurfing, sailing, coastal botany, golf, castle viewing, watching the bird life on Skomer Island, boat trips, coastal swimming, gallery viewing, and a plethora of arts and crafts in Pembrokeshire
