You don't get a second chance for a first impression and this property wowed us when we entered.
Very clean, fresh and well appointed with all the facilities we wanted. Its obvious that the owners take great pride in this delightful cottage and was beyond our expectations.
Its ideal for a couple or a family with one child in the single bedroom.
Its a 5 min walk to town and all of the shops, pubs and restaurants there, but is very quite location. Parking is tight on the road but there is a allocate parking space just 5 mins walk away so didn't pose a problem at all.
We're hoping to return here again next year, that's how good we felt the property and owner are.
Lovely clean, comfortable, equipped cottage which is central the hive of shops, pubs and restaurants which Ambleside has to offer. 3 minutes walk from cottage and you are amongst it all. Some lovely walks straight from the door. Communications with hosts great, they were very helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend,
Amazing little cottage, ideally located and so close to the town centre.
Helen and Steve were very friendly and accommodating, lovely people.
We had a great time and would definitely consider coming back.
The cottage is well appointed, very comfortable and in a perfect position for accessing Ambleside. Parking adjacent to the property is not always possible but a private space is provided a short walk away which works well and was not inconvenient. Everything about our holiday was absolutely right and the Lakeland weather was unbelievably good. Sunshine every day! When we revisit the lakes this will most likely be our destination. It’s central and Ambleside bus services make a large part of the lakes accessible if you don’t want to drive meaning a large majority of the fells can be walked without worrying about the car parking. Altogether, highly recommended..
We really enjoyed this lovely cosy cottage - an ideal location to explore the area and in particular the many walks.
The Cottage was really comfy and cosy. The owners were very helpful.
The whole process from start to finish was very simple. The cottage was as beautiful in real life as was advertised. I damaged my ankle before I came away and still found the cottage to be accessible even though we hadn't looked for one that was. The outside toilet was a godsend! I would recommend this cottage and Helen to everyone.
Lovely cosy cottage in a perfect position for some of the best walks in the Lake District, and only minutes s away from all Ambleside's amenities. The owners Helen and Steve were very friendly and helpful.

A cosy cottage in a great location
A perfect cottage for the two of us. It had everything we needed and the quality of the fixtures and fittings was excellent.
We enjoyed the cosy nature of the cottage and the fact it was not unnecessarily modernised. The owners could not have been more helpful, even ‘reserving’ us a parking space outside the cottage.
The location of the cottage was perfect and we didn't need to use car all week. The town and all its facilities are within easy walking reach and the local buses are frequent and reliable, taking us to all the lakes and related towns and villages.
We thoroughly recommend this cottage and, whenever we visit the Lake District, will return to Bryony Cottage.

A lovely cottage in the perfect location
A week in the Lake District the weather was a bit damp but the scenery is fantastic. The location of the cottage is just a couple of minutes from Ambleside centre with lots of pubs and restaurants many of which are dog friendly. The cottage was warm, cosy clean and tidy and had everything we needed.

Cozy and convenient
The owner made our stay very pleasurable, ensuring the cottage was well-equipped, comfortable and easy to access. It’s so good to find classy accommodation that accepts dogs as well. For that, Molly is most grateful!

Cute, cozy, immaculately presented cottage.
A gem of a cottage. We were a party of 3 which was just perfect of the tiny size of the cottage. The bed was to die for, enormous good quality bedding. Location was perfect and we didn't use car all weekend. All our walks started from cottage and the shops were 3mins walk. Restaurants are so overpriced so we did our own catering in the tiny kitchen. It was a pleasure for one person to cook! We did have to be very tidy and could have done with more hooks for coats etc after a day walking in the rain! We will be back. Thanks.

Beautiful cosy, quiet and well appointed cottage which had maintained its historical character.
Enjoyed every moment of our stay... just wish we had been able to stay longer. Warm, cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Beds were extremely comfortable. If it had been summer we would have loved to make use of the quiet shared terraced garden. It was completely quiet at night yet we were only two minutes walk away from Ambleside centre. Good wifi connection. The owners were most helpful and friendly. I would love to go back and would recommend it to others.... particularly anyone not wanting to have to drive everywhere... shops, buses, restaurants and cinema all close by and of course, lovely walks. A great few days.

A perfect little cosy cottage
Was such a lovely little cottage. We unfortunately had non stop miserable weather but what a delight to come back to cosy Bryony Cottage. Owners are super and available if so needed. Would absolutely recommend both the cottage and owners for any stay in this glorious and convenient location.
The cottage had everything and more that we needed. Was a superb location and we really could not fault it. The bed was super comfy. I normally suffer with back problems when I change bed but had no issues this time... except trying to get out fit each day!
Wonderful. Don't miss the opportunity to stay here.

Lovely cottage, everything you need is there. The garden is a little suntrap, beautiful
What can I say about the bed? You roll into it and never want to roll out, it is sooo comfortable. The cottage is lovely, and very clean. It is in a fabulous location 2 minutes walk to the town. and 10 minutes walk from the town to the lake. My little dog loved the garden and it was very secure. We will see you again Helen. Thank you for posting my left belongings back to me. Lovely lady.

Home from home, probably cleaner though!
Bryony Cottage was exactly what we wanted, cosy but not small, plenty of room for two with a huge super king size bed from where you can look out over the town to the wonderful countryside. It a great location, stones throw from a great pub and short walk to a wide variety of restaurants. The cottage has everything you need, is very well maintained and very clean. They are pet friendly but glad to say I saw no evidence of previous furry guests! The owners are both friendly and accomodating- thank you, I expect we will be back.

About the host
Hosted by Helen Metcalfe
Bryony Cottage has been retained by our family for three generations having been bought my my maternal grandmother in the 1960's. We have kept various attractive features dating back to yesteryear but complemented by the very latest superfast broadband.
Why they chose this property
The cottage is lovingly maintained by ourselves to a high standard. Our own home is located only minutes away and we are very happy to offer any aspect of assistance if required.
What makes this property unique
A very large proportion of our visitors are return guests; 18 consecutive years have been notched up by one amazingly loyal couple. A large proportion of guests comment on the advantageous location of the cottage being so convenient to the village yet situated in a quiet, slightly elevated, position within the oldest corner of Ambleside.
