A great house for large family celebration. Has everything you needed and great entertainment with table tennis and pool and large garden. roomy dining room and cosy house. Located outside Grantown-On-Spey but a good hub to visit the cairngorms national park.
What a fantastic house for a family get together , we all had an amazing experience, the garden around the house was absolutely stunning the children loved running around and playing games, we are already planning our return trip, would highly recommend this property to friends.
Stayed for a major family celebration which was on New Years Day. Four generations of our family stayed in this wonderful large house, the younger ones could easily walk in to town which was a 30 minute walk where there were shops and a lovely pub.
Beautiful grounds surrounding an elegant house. Loads of space and bit of a labyrinth! Family gathering to celebrate my husbands birthday which was lovely to have all the family there. It was a wee bit cool in the upper bedrooms for the kiddies but there was snow on the ground ...all in all a very enjoyable experience
What a fab house for a fmaiyl gathering. Plenty space for us all while also room for us to gather together too. Kitchen had everything could wish for, plenty dishes, cooking utensils which was great for the 11 of us. Cupboards could have been a little cleaner but aware difficult to clean these when holiday lets. Kids loved the pool and table tennis and we also enjoyed cosying up in livingroom with fire on. Not too far to walk into Grantown and lovely walk along river right on doorstep. Lots of activities not too far away.Malcolm was the perfect host, easy to contact, approachable and quick to reply. Shame we miseed the daffodils. Would def recommend
Thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxed holiday with get together of our family.Very nice and much appreciated welcome pack. Would highly recommend for a group holiday
We had a wonderful stay with our family at this property. So much space to be together and apart when needed! It was lovely and warm and very comfortable. The games rooms provided a lot of fun for all ages! Would highly recommend.
Had a great stay here again for another Easter week in the house after last year. Kids love the large garden and there is a lot to do in the locality. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely long weekend in this property. The house was plenty big enough for 14 people. Beds were comfy, house was warm and a great dining room for us all to sit at one table. Enormous kitchen for food prep and plenty of storage. We made good use of the pool table and table tennis. Garden games were also available, as well as a hot tub at an extra cost. Lots of walks direct from the property. Can recommend Cairngorm Activities if you want to organise some outdoor activities (just 2 miles away). The host answered all queries promptly. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.
We loved our stay in Grantown-on-Spey. The home is huge, with plenty of space to stretch out. We enjoyed cooking a meal in the well-supplied kitchen and playing croquet on the lawn. Malcolm was a pleasure to work with. The walk into town is lovely.
We needed a house with a grond floor bedroom and bathroom for disabled access, this house was perfect for this. 11 guests in total and plenty of space for everyone. Only slight issue was some of the party didnt sleep well as the mattresses seemed a tad on the cheap side. Very good break away and would definitely attend again.
Our party consisted of 3 families with children aged 5-8 years old. The house was spacious, comfortable and catered for us all very well. Plenty of garden for the kids and location was excellent. We enjoyed a morning and Cairngorms ski centre, an afternoon at the highland folk museum followed by a day at nearby Landmark.
Aviemore is a short drive away and the scenery is stunning.
We have all thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend and we will definitely be back!
What a wonderful property - we had a great stay here. Perfect large house for large groups, close to everything you’d want to be close to. We liked being able to walk into town but stay in a quiet house. Plenty of fun activities for children of all ages. Malcom was informative and leaned forward on communication. Our only disappointment was that we had to leave so soon.
Amazing property and perfect for a group gathering. Set in lawned garden that is perfect for morning coffee in the sunshine, doggy fetch games and even family rounders. BBQ most useful as were all the facilities and amenities. Great to have three bathrooms. so the families didn’t clash. Set on three levels with fantastic sized rooms and plenty of space to spread out… even the teenagers were happy! Achnagonalin is a superb base for exploring the Highlands and such a welcoming house after a hard day out trekking. Malcolm visited to check in on us which was a lovely touch as was the welcome goodies we received. Highly recommend this super escape from city living! We hope to return…
3 generations across two families enjoyed 5 nights at Malcolms' wonderful property.
The pictures don't do it justice. The house is massive, and was perfect for our group of 12, plus one dog.
The downstairs single room was a godsend for one of the granparents who struggles with stairs. And the kids, and the competitive dads/grandads loved the table tennis and pool table.
The location was perfect for us, just a short 3-4 min drive from the centre of Grantown on Spey, or a leisurely 25 min walk. And only 20-25 mins from Aviemore.
The kitchen was well equipped to make full meals, which we did most evenings. And two large fridge-freezers were great for the excess amount of food and drink we brought with us.
Malcolm was great with any comms we had with him. Can't fault him or his house at all. If we plan any future large group holidays in the area, this is the first place we'll try and book.
This was our 3rd year here for Easter, as the location and size of the property suits us very well. Overall the property is clean, but there are a couple of underlying issues that need addressed. 1) The cooker/stove needs new dials and labels to indicate the correct operation and stop us guessing - it's frustrating when you are guessing all the time if dials are in the right or wrong setting. 2.) The shower curtain in the 2nd floor bathroom needs replaced.....it may look clean but it is not and smells quite bad. These are only minor issues that can be easily addressed. Other than those we enjoyed our stay here and the kids had great fun in the front garden area. The maze garden was also great for use for the kids easter egg hunt! :)
Our second Easter trip in succession at Malcolm's property, and it did not disappoint. This house is perfect for big groups. We cannot rate it highly enough.Location is just on the outskirts of Grantown-on-Spey in a very secluded spot which is so peaceful A section of the Speyside way starts 50 yards from the end of the driveway.Really spacious house which never felt overcrowded, even with 12 of us staying. The kids had great fun playing hide and seek indoors and out in the gardens, which are well kept and plentiful in hiding spaces.Communication with Malcolm was excellent. He was always very prompt in replying, and he even stopped in on passing on the day we arrived t9 ensure we'd gotten in safely. We will definitely stay again.
