About this property

Dreamwater Villa......Your Own Private Waterfall!!!!

Dreamwater Villa is a magical place where you can become one with the water. A beautiful waterfall sits just off the front porch with an entire glass wall and doors opening up to it from the living space and loft. This brand new villa has all modern conveniences including a large walk in rainfall shower, and ultra high definition viewing window from the king size bed that lights up the creek under the house at night. Just off the master suite is a small deck that sits over a crystal clear mountain pond stocked with rainbow trout and a beautiful gravity fed fountain. The master has a pillow top king bed, and the loft has both a twin and full size bed with beautiful views of the waterfall and creek. We also have a second lodge on the property(The Unicorn Lodge) in the event you need additional space for larger groups.

Unique experience
Loved the small town, local family run businesses. Very unique. The villa was cute with the waterfall literally right there and the water passing under, very cool! Enjoyed our few days stay tremendously

Beautiful space in a beautiful place
There was a slight misunderstanding about which of the accommodations we were supposed to be in, but we quickly got that worked out even with a language barrier. As a result of this misunderstanding, we were allowed a late check out. The house was gorgeous. It did get chilly at night, but there was an electric heater for the bed and space heaters for the rest of the house. The dehumidifier in the bathroom was a lovely touch as it helped us to dry out our clothes after days of no climate control at other destinations. We would definitely come back. Of our whole trip ranging from hot spring resorts to beach side bamboo house to a 4 star resort in Alajuela, Dreamwater Villa was by far our favorite accommodation.

Beautiful valley with amazing birds
Fabulous location for seeing Resplendent Quetzals! Beautiful view of the waterfall. Two nice restaurants within walking distance. Was happy to have the electric blanket. It got chilly at night and mornings. Very friendly caretakers. We did not have a car but made some arrangements to visit some nearby places.

San Gerardo de Dota
My kids called this property a cross between a Japanese garden and a fairy land. Very beautiful with abundant flowing water. The steep and winding road into the valley was mostly well paved, the house is in a very quiet area, and there weren't many people around. A decent and affordable restaurant across the street that has a trout farm, a succulent farm, and orchards on both sides of the valley. The few people that live there were very very open and welcoming, but better if you speak some Spanish as no one seemed able to speak English. A unique place off the beaten path that is worth the experience (if only for a night, maybe two). Be forewarned, we woke up to temps in the mid 40s (F) in July. At a minimum, have long sleeves!

Luxury rustic
This unique property is rustic with luxury touches where they count. The beds were very comfortable with really nice bedding. The heated king bed was wonderful in the chilly night. The bathroom was clean, updated, and comfortable and the shower was nice, if a bit awkward to get into. The house was very clean. The view and sounds from the waterfall and fountain were very relaxing. The seating in the living area was adequate. The dining table and chairs comfortable. We had no problems cooking in the kitchen, although we brought everything we needed including the pots, griddles, knives, etc. What was there was very basic, typical for vacation rentals. But there was a nice refrigerator, sink, a microwave, coffee pot, and a gas range minus a few burners. The property was beautiful and conveniently located with good restaurants nearby. My companions enjoyed the hiking trails both on the property and nearby. We would definitely rent the property again if we returned to the area. We recommend that you take a quetzal tour because even if you see a group of people along the road watching a nest, it was very hard to see them without our guide. And we got great pictures on our cell phones from his spotting scope.

Wonderful place
We really enjoyed our stay. Very relaxing and in a very pretty elevated valley. If you want to see a Quetzal, look for large, round seeds on the ground that look like avocado seeds (in fact, that is what they are-wild avocados which do not have much body). Then look up. The birds feed on these and drop them out of the tree.

Very neat house.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The area is remote, but yet there are various restaurants and small gift shops nearby. There is plenty of hiking around the area that we also enjoyed. The house itself is nice and we enjoyed the small waterfall only feet from the back of the house and the pond only feet from the front of the house. Even though we hardly ever saw them, the neighbors were very friendly and helpful in answering questions. Although it didn't lessen our trip, it is helpful to know that it can get chilly in the home, especially if it is raining.

This is the second villa Tammy and I have built on our amazing property in the cloud forest of Costa Rica. I am a winemaker in Oregon and Tammy is a nurse. We try to spend as much time possible at our favorite spot on the planet in Costa Rica.

Why they chose this property

This is a once in a lifetime vacation experience. I built this villa spanning the creek with the small waterfall just off the front the deck. You immediately become part of the creek as the water flows through you at all times. We are able to control the water flow as we diverted the larger creeks to form our trout ponds, so there is no chance for flooding.
