Sahalie Mountain Log Cabin at 7300 feet and Close to Heaven!
"Sahalie" is a Chinook Indian name meaning "High Heavenly Ground". The views from this property are spectacular with Mt. Humphries (San Francisco Peaks), Mt. Kendrick, Sitgreaves Mountain and other beautiful peaks right outside the door. Sitting at an altitude of 7,300 feet, this rustic log cabin (with all modern conveniences) sits on 6 acres only 3 miles north of Route 66 in Parks halfway between Flagstaff and Williams.
Sahalie Cabin borders Kaibab National Forest making access to the forest and all its adventure just steps away. Explore the numerous forest service roads in the area and look for the resident elk, deer, antelope and occasional bear. Enjoy hiking and climbing the hills looking for elk or deer antlers that have been shed by these beautiful animals that are frequent visitors to this property. Better yet, just sit on the deck and enjoy the magnificent beauty that surrounds you. The sunrise and sunset are not to be missed. Beware of the Hummingbirds that will "buzz" around you as they drink from their feeder right off this deck. Did I mention the stars at night? If you have never experienced seeing the Milky Way, this is something you have to see. The night sky is simply breathtaking! Watch for satellites and those shooting stars too!
For those who want to take in all the many treasures that Northern Arizona has to offer, the Grand Canyon is only 55 min away. 15 minutes to Williams (catch the train to the Grand Canyon), 15 minutes to Flagstaff and 60 minutes to Sedona. Visiting attractions like Bearizona are always a fun time and fishing the lakes near Williams is a summer favorite of many as you bask in the 70-80 degree summer temperatures. The monsoon storms are an afternoon favorite for many in July and August. Afternoons can be spent on the deck watching these storms build up all around then letting loose. The sound of thunder rumbling through the forest is a sound few people ever get to hear.
This very special cabin has room for 2-3 couples and kids too. There is 2650 square feet of rustic comfort. 3 bedrooms with 2 1/2 baths. Master bedroom has bath with shower. Both guest bedrooms share a "jack and jill" bath with tub/shower. There is a half bath in the hallway. All bedrooms have comfy queen beds and there are Aero Beds with plenty of room in the loft. The open floor plan features a large kitchen that has everything needed for cooking those hearty mountain meals. There is a propane barbecue available if so desired. The kitchen is open to a large family gathering area that features a floor to ceiling fireplace that was built with rocks gathered from the property. Satellite TV is available in the great room and the master bedroom. There is an XBOX in the loft ready for the kids. A Pak-N-Play and a highchair are available if needed.
If you're looking for a few days or a few weeks of nothing but relaxation, come visit the "high heavenly ground" Sahalie has to offer. You won't be disappointed! However, there is one thing that must be mentioned, leaving is very difficult!

We stayed at the Miller's cabin for a weekend getaway in the snow for the kids. Although there wasn't any snow yet in the area, we went to Coaster Canyon Park for snow tubing and SnowBowl for snowboarding. The location was perfect - right between both Flagstaff and Williams! The cabin was so peaceful and had everything we needed to relax and recuperate after those long two days. I had a couple questions and Jim responding immediately each time. Thanks so much to the Millers for being great hosts.
This was our 4th time to this wonderful cabin and we fall in love a little more each time. Truly a special place in a picture perfect setting with all the creature comforts of home. The owners are so gracious and welcoming. We are looking forward to our next stay bonding as a family.

Awesome location and beautiful cabin
Family and I had the best time at this cabin. Centrally locates between Flagstaff and Williams. Spent time in both locations plus Sedona which is just beautiful. Cabin is outstanding with everything you need. Spent every night sitting on the front porch with the family staring at the stairs to unwind from the days activities
We have rented quite a few cabins in northern AZ and this by far was our favorite!
Location was secluded and a fun”hill” directly behind the property to hike.
Layout of the cabin was absolutely perfect for our family! The attention to detail of what was provided and the cleanliness was top notch.
We are grateful to have spent time there and hope we can do it again!
The Cabin was absolutely gorgeous! By far one of the best experiences we could have asked for. Our kids had a blast making memories in the loft and waiting for Santa to make his debut. Everything that we needed was there and ready. Would definitely recommend this to my friends and most likely will plan another stay in the future! The holiday season can be very stressful and hectic staying at the Sahalie cabin REALLY took all of the chaos out of the holidays. With the ambiance and the geographical location you really are able to relax and just enjoy your time with loved ones.
The property is nestled at the base of a hill, surrounded by pines and mountain views--truly secluded from any hustle bustle. The interior styling is refined, giving it a rustic cabin feel, but with all of the modern amenities. Every room, including the kitchen, is stocked with the tools you'll need for a comfortable stay. The blanket of stars at night is breathtaking. Even the most discriminating guests will love this property, whether you're traveling as a couple or with children. The owners were also responsive and hospitable.

Perfect in every way!
We loved this cabin & spent Christmas there. The owners’ attention to detail was over the top. Excellent communication & very easy to deal with. Location was central to Flagstaff, Williams, The Canyon & Sedona. Fully stocked kitchen made cooking meals a pleasure. Setting was beautiful & peaceful. Our every need was anticipated. It was even beautifully decorated for Christmas with the lights on when we arrived after dark. Definitely one of the best vrbos we have had.
In these crazy times, we were looking to be in the middle of nature, but close enough to be able to do family activities. With kids 6 months to 17 years, we made the whole gang happy.
The house was amazing and had everything we were looking for and needed. From the outside, a picturesque cabin, inside a beautifully done home, with all of the modern amenities and then some.
It was a perfect stay and we would we go back in a heartbeat. Thank you to the amazing host, Jim. He was responsive and always helpful!

Pretty Location but don't touch anything or you will be charged
We purchased the safety insurance but got charged for things we did not break...grease on plastic deck after cooking two small steaks (NO)...blinds that we were told were already broken...air mattress that leaked the whole time there...BEWARE!
Grand Log Cabin Enhanced our Grand Canyon Road Trip
Absolutely stunning log home with perfect location.
My husband wanted me to finally see the Grand Canyon yet was concerned for the times in which we are now living. So when we discovered this gorgeous private property we were excited.
Our only child and I saw the canyon for the first time. WOW what a sight! Yet is was the log cabin that made our road trip really grand. Our son, Talia and two children 11 & 15 years old joined us. They live near Phoenix AZ and we're from the Reno NV area. We were so joyful that we could all be together in such a beautiful place inside and outside.
Staying at "Sahalie" (perfect name) put us in the heart of the towns off Old Route 66 between Williams, Flagstaff and the gateway to the Grand Canyon. Plus the owner Jim was easy to reach, flexible and a great communicator. Of course we would love to return in the future.
We have a couple vacation rentals of our own and have stayed at many. This was the best set-up and managed property we've ever booked. The house is beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Also, this house is safe for anyone with chemical sensitivities - no harsh cleansers, no perfumed bedding, no scented candles, etc. I know this is only important to a few, but it's really important to them! The host was great. We were coming out to look at property in the area and he was very helpful by sharing his knowledge and helping us "shop" via texting. We weren't traveling with kids, but they would LOVE this place. The loft is all set up for a major slumber party. The hosts have thought of everything - even providing a large basket of gloves and mittens for those who forgot theirs or didn't know how cold it can get in the area. Our favorite thing was sitting out on the deck and just staring before and after our long days of driving around to properties. We saw grazing cows, bunnies and many shooting stars... and we heard the local elk bugling to find a date for the night. One was really close! I'm sure we'll be staying here again.
We had the best stay at Sahalie! The location could not have been better for our day trips to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. We had considered staying in Flagstaff but were happy we choose this more picturesque setting. The property has an exclusive estate feel with woods, trails, and space to enjoy. The night sky was awe inspiring. We enjoyed the view of the snow capped mountains from the living room. Jim and Jani were the most gracious and helpful hosts. We felt welcomed and cared for throughout our stay. The property was immaculate and exceeded out expectations. We had a great time visiting the near by Grand Canyon Deer Farm, Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course, and Bearizona! It was a joy to come back to the property in the evenings for family meals, games and to catch the sun set. The kitchen is large and easy to navigate. The property was abundantly stocked which eliminated any inconveniences that one might expect when travelling. Jim and Jani really set the bar high. We were very impressed with all the details that were in place to make Sahalie a perfect home away from home. We really did not want to leave. Thank you Jim and Jani for your hospitality! Your property is amazing!
When I was scrolling through listings looking for THE place to take my kiddos for a weekend getaway, the common phrase I kept seeing regarding this cabin was “words cannot express”. That repeated phrase was the reason I did ultimately select this amazing cabin. I was not disappointed and neither will you be. Every single positive word and review you will read about this cabin is spot on accurate so I’m not going to repeat those sentiments. I am going to leave this message instead…. If YOU are the one who spends YOUR whole vacation from beginning to end ensuring that everyone else has a great time and feels well taken care of typically leaving yourself to utter the famous words “I need a vacation from my vacation” then this place is meant for YOU! From the moment you walk in to the last few lingering seconds before you depart, YOU will feel taken care of. This cabin is not just well stocked as most vacation rentals are, this cabin feels like going home to a trusted family member after a rough day knowing that they will magically have what you need. It’s a soul replenishing experience to not have to worry about “did I bring this, did I bring that?”. Your family will be safe. Your family will stay healthy. Your family will make great memories. All will be right with the world for the days and nights you’re there. If it’s not, Jim has my complete confidence that he will make it right. My kids and I can’t wait to go back!
Extremely comfortable for our family. The best part is the secluded location. There is a mini mountain right behind the cabin that our 12year old son and his friends can hike. The loft upstairs in the cabin provides indoor fun for the kids and enough beds for all. The kitchen had everything we needed to accomodate our cooking. We have stayed here twice and look forward to returning again!
When we were planning our vacation to northern Arizona to hike Humphrey's Peak and the Grand Canyon, we never imagined we would find a home like Jim's. It is obvious that Jim put a lot of time and energy into his home - beautifully located so you can see Humphrey's Peak, deer wandering into the yard, and peaceful mornings on the porch. To top it off, Jim was friendly and great at providing helpful tips that made the trip a little easier. We highly recommend his home to anyone wanting a relaxing, northern Arizona experience.
There were 5 adults and one rambunctious 3 1/2 y/o grandson for the week. The cabin was spacious enough for privacy when needed and comfy for everyone to enjoy each other’s company. The area was absolutely beautiful and we had the snow we wanted. :))). I highly recommend this cabin and will be returning.
Beautiful cabin in a nice quiet location but close to attractions. Our host stayed in contact with us during our stay to make sure all our needs were met. They even sent a person who snowplows their driveway to check on us when we received more snow than originally forecast. A perfect cabin, a great host all helped to make this stay a perfect family Christmas vacation.
This property is a gem in Arizona. We had such a wonderful stay. Jim the property host was so helpful too! He was so kind and super accommodating. I highly recommend this property. This trip will be a memory for our family to cherish forever. It was absolutely perfect. You must stay here. It doesn’t get much better in Arizona.
This log cabin home was extremely clean, comfortable and convenient to sites in the area. We were able to take in the Grand Canyon, Bearizona, the Meteor Crater and more. The house was the epitome of tranquility. The canopy of stars we saw each night was amazing. We highly recommend this home for anyone visiting the area
Our experience at Sahalie was more than our family of 5 could ever hope for. We booked with the intent of getting away from the scorching Valley, seeing Bearizona, and the Grand Canyon. Of course we got to do all of those things, hurt our best times were spent together as a family in the Miller’s cabin. Our kids saw the Milky Way for the first time while sitting outside around the fire pit. We played board games that we found in the kid’s closet and had an absolute ball. Jim and Jani have created the loveliest environment for families to bond and appreciate the relaxed atmosphere of northern Arizona. It was just close enough to both Williams and Flagstaff to get to groceries and restaurants, and we also loved the little general store that served food at the corner off of the main road.
Spending time drinking coffee on the back deck in the morning while my kids played in the yard was a highlight of the trip. It’s so hard to keep kids entertained in the summer in Phoenix and giving them acres to run felt like the best gift we could give them. The gift of minimal “no’s” and the gift of unstructured playtime.
Jim was in constant contact with us making sure we got to the cabin safely, offering suggestions and answering questions. Never intrusive and always kind and hospitable. We’ve rented so many VRBOs all over the country and this is truly our favorite. We hope to be back many more times and we are so grateful to Jim and Jani for choosing to make their getaway available to others. We recommend Sahalie 10/10!
Awesome variety of bird and animal life in the area. Had dinner outside one evening with 6 browsing mule deer. Easy access to NF and miles of FS roads. Great naps with afternoon rain showers in the background. Comfortable home, well-equipped cook's kitchen.
Our family of four had an excellent time at this location. Jim and his wife made us feel very welcome with thoughtful touches for my wife and I, and our kids. Communication was great and the cabin and location were one of a kind. We would return for sure.

About the host
Hosted by Jim Miller
We (Jim and Jani) were born and raised in Oregon. We moved to Arizona in 1984 and have lived in the Phoenix area ever since. It was always our goal to share the outdoors with our kids and grandchildren. In 1999 we began, what became a 2 year search, to find the perfect property to build a life long dream log cabin. Our family has enjoyed many fun times here with lots of memories. After 12 years of being an exclusive 1 family getaway, we are delighted to share this very special and beautiful log cabin with you...our guests.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property the moment we saw it. You will too! The cabin is easily accessible by paved road and a 1,000 foot cinder driveway. The unobstructed views of all the peaks that surround the cabin are magnificent. Access to the national forest is right out the door. There is just so much to do...or not to do!
What makes this property unique
This cabin is a true log home built with hand peeled logs from Montana. It has all the modern conveniences too. By far, without a doubt, THE VIEW is the most unique benefit. You'll be taking many photos from the deck as the mountain slowly turns colors with the evening sunsets.
