Nice well equipped cottage in lovely quiet village

We had a lovely week in this property which was very comfortable and had everything we needed. I was worried about the lack of offstreet parking but there really wasn't a problem parking 2 cars outside in such a quite location. Happy to recommend.

We had a lovely time and the cottage is well equipped, need transportation as nothing is walkable.

Nice cottage, our only challenge was not knowing about the low ceilings. My husband is 6ft 3 and hit his head on numerous occasions.

Great location, cottage needs some TLC

First impressions sadly didn’t do this cottage justice. From the road it looks grey and a little shabby (the children thought it looked like a prison) and inside there was peeling paint and unfinished decoration. There is a real lack of storage furniture upstairs and what there is is flimsy. There were only 5 hangers in the entire property (we bought some more and left them for future guests). The curtains barely fit and there was only 1 bedside lamp in the master bedroom; the outside benches were falling apart as was the clothes airer. It felt more like student digs than a holiday cottage, which was disappointing as it was the same price we have paid for much more luxurious cottages in the same area. Having said that the location was great, the garden was sunny and the water pressure in the shower was fantastic. The bed in the master bedroom was large and comfortable and all the kitchen appliances worked fine. We had a great week and the owner was very kind in answering messages promptly. Overall it’s a nice cottage that could benefit from some TLC, a lick of paint and some new curtains and furniture upstairs to make it feel more like the kind of luxury holiday cottage you’d expect at that price point.

A peaceful and quiet base to explore the local area with a lovely enclosed garden. Comfortable and well equipped. Well suited for a family of five adults with a small dog.

Family break

We thought the property had been refurbished to a very good standard, we loved the peaceful setting with rural views from the garden and walks in every direction. Porthcothan beach is a favourite of ours and being only a couple of miles away was an added bonus. Thank you for letting us stay in you lovely cottage we had a wonderful week.

A lovely cottage for a great family holiday

We had a lovely family holiday in this cottage just a walk from Porthcothan Beach. The cottage was well appointed, had a great garden which we would've enjoyed more if the weather had been better! The kids had a week of surfing as well as round of golf at Trevone. St Merryn is a short drive and has a shop, bakery, restaurants that we would have visited more had Covid not prevented it. We would definitely go back to this cottage again.

Away from home at last!!

Pretty cottage with lovely garden which was great with two little ones (3 and 5) who just need space. Great having two bathrooms as well. Would recommend to anyone who was happy to be a ten minute drive from the beach.

Great base for family holiday

Our family with 3 children had a fantastic weeks stay in this property. The village location is quite but very close to lots of lovely beaches and Padstow. Kids had a fantastic time bodyboarding and it’s close to a small aquapark too. The house itself was ideal with a nice size secluded garden for the children to play. The bedrooms are big and the downstairs space was for great for us 5. Both bathrooms have showers which was great but both are downstairs although this wasn’t too much of an issue for us. We tried the walk from the house to the beach but got lost across the fields but it all added to the fun! Love this part of Cornwall!

Great village property for exploring the North Cornwall coast

Our family and dog really enjoyed staying at “Pucara”. Warm, clean and well equipped this property provides an excellent springboard to the seven bays of St. Merryn and the Padstow area. The secure back garden and country views were a bonus. I would highly recommend this property to families, dog owners and those wanting a rural coastal location.

North Cornwall Cosy Cottage

A very cosy cottage which we all found to have a totally relaxing atmosphere. Located in a very peaceful and tranquil hamlet, the cottage had everything you could need. Even the garden was a nice place to sit and listen to the birdsong. Lots of things to do close by. We walked to Porthscothan Beach, went to the pub there and ate, did another walk to Bedruthan Steps which was spectacular and also spent some time in Padstow. A great base for a short break but perhaps we will stay longer next time! And dog friendly too which was ideal!! Owner James was very helpful and quick to respond when we contacted him, so we will return I’m sure. Five stars from me!! * * * * *

Great escape from it all at Pucara

Lovely little house in the sleepy, but idyllic hamlet of Penrose. Perfectly kitted out kitchen and ideal sitting room. Bedrooms are an excellent size, with three comfy double beds and an additional single in one room. Lots of tellys! Two bathrooms are on the ground floor - fine for us, but probably challenging for those with mobility problems. Cake on arrival was a bonus! Really great garden with rural views and excellent walking for dog owners. As only 5 minutes from the beaches it is perfect for exploring the seven bays, although we tend to stick to one!

Why they chose this property

Visited the seven bays area in June 2014, considered a "buy to let" property in Bristol to act as a pension but fell in love with the North Cornwall area.
Found a house that needed a huge renovation and managed to secure it and complete the works. Amazing location and we re-used original materials where ever possible. I particularly love the unique original doors throughout the house.

What makes this property unique

30 min walk to the beach through a wooded valley with bubbling stream. Quiet little hamlet with friendly locals. At night the sky is fall of stars and if the wind is in the right direction you can hear the waves breaking on the nearby beaches. Amazing
