About this property

Patricia Home | 6 Bedrooms | Pet Friendly

Located in the quaint mountain cove of Montreat, Patricia Home is nestled up on Rainbow Ridge and is the perfect place to gather. This home, built in 1909, beautifully blends modern amenities with historical pieces. Once home to a family where the women were all named Patricia, the walls of this property are a veritable history museum. Enjoy your time both inside the home and out, on the three layers of decks with the sounds of nearby Flat Creek. The driveway is extremely steep, but is manageable and has plenty of space at the top. There are a total of five parking spaces available. Open concept the first level has plenty of space for entertaining, with a table that seats approximately 16 people. The updated galley-style kitchen has modern appliances and beautiful granite countertops, with a bar space connecting to the dining room for quick service. Spacious den has seating on split levels - with the television on the upper level near the hall half bath. Spend time together on the expansive front porch in the red rocking chairs, as burgers heat up on the grill. All bedrooms are on the upper two levels of the home - with two rooms on the second floor, one leading to the deck; and four on the third floor, with access to the small top-story deck from the hall. Take your time as you venture up the stairs to piece together the story of the home and its previous occupants with the memorabilia placed on the walls.

You're within walking distance to the award-winning Robert Lake Park - with a lovely creekside playground, tennis courts, a small ballfield, and an easy walking trail Elizabeth's Path. Peruse the ethically sourced handcrafted goods at Ten Thousand Village or the area-specific items at The Montreat Store. Grab a coffee or hand-scooped ice cream from The Huckleberry and take a walk around Lake Susan, or in the summer rent a paddle boat or go fishing. Montreat's trail system offers several hiking options from easy to strenuous and is within a few minutes drive of the home. Venture into Black Mountain, an eight-minute drive, to enjoy the small businesses and locally owned restaurants that line the downtown streets. From pub-style Appalachian to authentic Cuban, several local coffee roasters, and fantastic bakeries - Black Mountain has it all. If you've exhausted Black Mountain's offerings, travel another twenty minutes down the interstate to Asheville - where you can enjoy several James Beard-nominated restaurants and the booming beer scene.

House Layout: Main Floor- Kitchen, dining table seats 16-20, TV in the living room, half bath for commons area. Second Floor- Bedroom 1 with two Queens and a set of bunk beds and a tv, full bath connects with tub/shower; Bedroom 2 with Queen and full bath. Third Floor- Bedrooms 3,4,5,6 have queen beds and there are two full hall baths.

Linens, sheets and towels, are provided for your convenience. Patricia Home is pet friendly with an additional pet fee. During the summer Montreat Conference Season - typically June through August - the home rents weekly and the linens will be delivered to the home in gray laundry bags. Mid-August through May the home has a minimum 3-night stay and a minimum of 4 nights for holidays, the beds will be made for your convenience.

Girlfriends Get A Way
For 20 years 6 of us women have been getting together on an annual basis. This home was perfect because we could each have our own bedroom. If you are not able to navigate stairs this is not your house. Otherwise, great views and very comfortable!

Lovely Mountain Retreat
Our extended family stayed in this property for property for Thanksgiving. We loved the layout of the sleeping rooms as they are well separated, allowing for privacy. The kitchen is very well equipped and had most of what we needed for Thanksgiving preparation.. The town of Montreat lovely, and very walkable, with beautiful views and hiking nearby. Black Mountain is minutes away and is a good place to spend a day looking in all the shops. We would probably not rent property again in the colder months as the single main living space was confining when everyone came inside to get out of the cold. Probably better suited for summer months when you can enjoy the porches and most people would be outdoors.

Hidden oasis
This place is a go to for large gatherings or get togethers! The property owner was nice, professional and quick to answer any questions. The area the house is located is gorgeous as well! Relaxing hike next to a running creek right outside the front door. I’d recommend anyone to stay here

Great Experience!
We had a great time staying at this property - we had about 15 people that all stayed comfortably in the bedrooms and a major plus was being able to get all of us around the table for meals. It’s about 15-20 minutes to Asheville breweries and hard to get Ubers to the house, but thankfully we had some DDs. Beautiful area!

Perfect Stay!
We were at Montreat for our son’s wedding and needed a big house for 8 adults and a small dog. The Patricia House was perfect for our needs. It has 2 master bed/baths on the second floor and 4 bedrooms and 2 baths on the 3rd floor. Grandparents, aunt, parents, and 3 adult sons were very happy to have their own space. It made it easy to get ready for the big event. The main floor is an open layout with plenty of comfortable seating for relaxing and a dining table large enough to fit at least 12 people. The wedding was beautiful and our 4 nights at the Patricia House were the icing in the cake.

Memorable Experience
This was our annual family holiday trip. Our young adult children really loved seeing all the family history on display at this house. The location was perfect for our day trip to snow tubing and Asheville. The hiking trails were a minute away and had beautiful scenery. The small creek in front of the house was soothing and a big feature for the family. Tha k you for a fun and memorable experience.

Great Location, Lovely Home
We really enjoyed our stay in Montreat. We took a walk in the neighborhood and discovered all kinds of beautiful nature. Loved being so close to Black Mountain restaurants and shops and not far from downtown Asheville. It's a beautiful home with a wonderful view, tons of room for our guests. The kitchen was stocked with all the tools needed to prepare wonderful meals. We really enjoyed our experience and would return.

Amazing Retreat in Montreat
This listing really undersells this house. The house is HUGE and it overlooks a river. My favorite part of the day was to sit on the covered porch and just listen to the river. We spent seven wonderful days in the home with three families with kids ranging from 2 years old to 10. It was perfect. Our trip started out with the kids seeing a black bear right outside the house coming up from the river as we unpacked the cars. What an exciting first day! We spent time walking around Montreat up to Lake Susan and wading in the creek near the park. There's a huge park down the path and a big field across the river which we used for running bases, bocce ball, and soccer. The older kids took a hike up to Overlook which was amazing. We also drove out to the Blue Ridge Parkway to hike the Pink Beds trail and capture some amazing overlook photos on the parkway. We did a whitewater rafting trip with French Broad Adventures and a canoe trip with Headwaters (note they will let kids under six sit in the middle spot while others won't). And a social distant brewery tour with takeaways from the breweries in Black Mountain (Lookout Brewery is the best). Highly recommend making a stop at Okie Dokie's for BBQ. And every night we were happy to return to our home in Montreat. The shared space looks small in the pictures but was plenty big for our group. The big table was fantastic for our large group meals. The bedrooms were very large. Graybeard was a model of how a management company should run. They texted before the trip and were very easy to get a hold of. We had some trouble with the grill and they brought over a new one within an hour. This is a very cool historical home, built in 1909 and with some very cool photos and artifacts throughout the house, but fully modernized and very warm and welcoming. We'd recommend this to any big group looking for a peaceful retreat. We'd definitely stay again. I already miss the rumbling of the river.

Temperature in the house was very cold when checking in.
Internal house temperature had to be 60f. It took 1 1/2 day for the ground floor to get warm. There is no curb side signage to indicate we were entering the correct property. Creating confusion. Once settled in, the stay was excellent.
