Fabulous Getaway and Excellent Hosts!
This rental exceeded expectations! The property is exceptionally well maintained and well stocked. We came prepared with kitchen items for cooking and needed none of it. This host has gone above and beyond to make sure you have a delightful stay. Definitely worth a repeat visit. The survey of our extended family members declared this was the perfect place to enjoy a quiet winter stay and enjoy all the area had to offer.

We wanted a relaxing place to stay close to Bellingham as our oldest son was starting his first year at Western. It was so fun to be able to have the lake, kayaks, SUP and the fire pit! We all loved it!

Great place, caring hosts
Lots of things show how much the hosts care for and consider their guests. Water toys all right at hand, firewood ready, bikes awaiting. We moored our own boat and caught bass in it and swam from it. Lots to like, thank you!

Great Bellingham Stay
Getaway for my Mom with my brothers, and this was the perfect home base for our weekend in Bellingham. Close to town, but perfectly relaxing. House had it all! Only 10mins from Downtown Bellingham where we enjoyed the WWU Campus, farmers market, shopping, and restaurants. Will definitely book here for our next trip to the area.

Lovely lakeside location
Enjoyed our stay at the house; we had a long weekend workshop that went late each day, so we were only able to partially take in the lovely location and house; it would be nice to return for pure leisure and enjoy just being on the lake.

Love, love, love it here!
The check-in process is extremely easy, you walk in the front door and immediately you see the lake in the back yard. From the house it’s beautiful green rolling grass all the way to the beautiful sandy lake. Our family is fortunate enough to be able to stay here every year (is this year 5?). My grandchildren, nieces, nephews and sister have all learned to kayak and paddle-board here. The water equipment is for you to use at your leisure even the lifejackets. The cooks in the family cook up a storm and we don’t have to worry about bringing measuring cups salt, pepper, flour & basic items are here in the wonderfully stocked kitchen cabinet. Thank you for all our beautiful memories we’ve created here as a family.

Wonderful lake house. Definitely family friendly.
We came for the Bellingham Marathon. The location on the lake is a great place for a family vacation. It has good access being close to I-5. Lots of water activities, as well as cozy inside and equipped for young kids. Great view of lake if weather isn’t great. Seating and dishes for a large group was important for us also. Responsive hosts.

Such a beautiful view
Everything about our stay was amazing. The view from the property was beautiful especially at sunset. Ours kids had the best time and got to kayak and stand up paddle board for the first time. We will definitely be booking this property again in the future.

Lovely, clean property. Our only complaint was that both full and half bathrooms were on first floor while three of four bedrooms were on second. Otherwise very well appointed. We really appreciated use of paddle boards and kayaks.

House outdated
The house is very outdated, spider webs on the ceiling, very old kitchen utensils and only has 1 & 1/4 bathrooms. Can’t swim in the lake in front of the house as the lake grass has taken over. Unfortunately it is the worst home we have booked.

Beautiful location, perfect for our visit
Minus one star because it lacks some of the luxury touches of other vacation rentals we’ve stayed at. You can tell this home is lived in, but the well stocked kitchen included some expired pantry items and the house itself had somewhat of a musty odor (maybe due to the fact that it was pet friendly). The other big quirk about this property is that the upstairs bedrooms (two doubles and a queen) are up a very steep and narrow spiral staircase with the only bathrooms being the full bath downstairs and half bath off master right next to the full bath—no upstairs bathroom! Not an ideal setup for families with very young children or groups that would not easily be able to share the one full bathroom. We made it work, but honestly, we spent most of our time with our friends who had rented the house next door. The house they rented was much more luxurious and surprisingly much less expensive as a rental (our nightly fee was $50 more than theirs but there were over $1000 in other fees added to our rental that made it much more expensive for the duration—I don’t think I paid close attention to the invoice until I learned how much our friends’ rental cost). The rental next door had more bathrooms and a better layout for families with children. This location is beautiful and the house has plenty of extras for groups looking to enjoy the lake and surrounding area. It is just not the best property for families with younger children, elderly, or groups wanting an indoor gathering space.

Lake house
We loved 7 Cedars lake house. Great location, had all the amenities we could hope for. Great deck to dine, read, visit and watch the beautiful lake. Plenty of kayaks, paddle boards for our party of 5. Loved the dock, fire pit, and the bunnies running around the garden. Truly a fabulous vacation for our family.

Beautiful lake house
So many wonderful things about this house & the location. We enjoyed the view, the kayaks and the SUPs. Beds were comfy and we loved the deck. Weather was nice, in the 70’s but the house got very warm, even when we used all the shades, curtains and fans. Two bedrooms are upstairs, and we were never able to cool them sufficiently for comfortable use, even at night when it was cooler outside. We were hoping to walk and bike around the lake but we didn’t feel safe on the road as there is no shoulder, and the cars were going quite fast.

Family Wedding Fun
This beautiful house on Lake Samish was perfect for our family and friends in town for our son’s wedding! The kitchen was well-appointed for a large group and our party of 8 had plenty of privacy in our separate bedrooms but lots of space to eat and play games in the living areas. We were able to take a couple of days after all the hustle and bustle of the wedding to enjoy the lawn, fire pit, kayaks and spacious deck. Communication with the hosts was clear and easy. We definitely recommend this lake house for families or large groups, and hope we have occasion to stay again ourselves!

Beautiful lakefront home!
We came to enjoy a short vacation after we witnessed our nephew graduate from UW. What we found was a welcoming home away from home. The view of the lake and natural surroundings was breathtaking. Kayaking everyday and bonfires every night, it was such a stress-free getaway. We are already planning our return here next year or so. Thanks for opening up your home for us!

About the host

Hosted by Sarah Hall

Host profile image
The property was purchased in the early 60's by Palmer and Myrtle Bruland as a summer getaway for themselves and their 5 children. The house was finished in 1966. In 2015 it was converted to a year-round Vrbo with holidays and other dates reserved for the extended family. Over the decades we all have fond memories of play and laughter and expect to see the tradition continue through the coming generations.

Why they chose this property

Peace and tranquility describes what I find most appealing about the setting. Looking out over the shimmering lake simply can't be beat. There is a vast array of birds including resident Eagles and cranes as well a beaver or two just down Friday Creek. A silky quiet kayak ride down the creek or bike round around the lake are special events we do most every time up in early summer. Taking the SUPs for an evening paddle is a favorite among all.

What makes this property unique

We offer amenities for all ages both for both inside and outside: games, cards, toys, train sets, cars, books, puzzles, dolls, horseshoes, beach toys, and the lawn game Kuub.

Because the house is owner maintained and not by an institutional service, the property feels more like a real lived in home because it is. We like sharp knives, a variety of seasoning, and decent pots and pans, just like you do.

We allow pets once vetted with a limit 2, which add to the convenience of bringing your fur babies on your travels.
