Some very good, some very disappointing
The area and small community where the villa is located is excellent. There’s even a guard and a gate. The pool was terrific and there were so many awesome birds to see. Mario, the host off premises, responded immediately when we needed to reach out. That was appreciated. At first glance the unit looks very nice. But there have been no updates in a long time. The fridge handle is broken and has been for a long time (other residents reported). The kitchen has sparse items, unmatched and cheap. More cups and glasses would have been appreciated. Pots and pans were okay. The beds were like blocks of wood. Cheap sheets and old comforter didn’t make the room appealing. The pillows were awful and old. The lamp shades were burned and I asked for a bulb, which never came. There is one rocking chair outside. One. What does the other person do? There’s a nice little balcony off one of the bedrooms with no furniture, so we used it to dry clothes. For the price Mario is asking for this rental, we were really disappointed . You really have to weigh the nice pool and neighbors against an unpleasant stay.

Okay, but not great
The unit is very basic, not exquisite or beautifully furnished as described in the listing. The furniture is old, the "fully equipped" kitchen lacked the most basic items (paper towels, dish soap, hot pads, a cutting board, sharp knives, scissors, and more). I'd give the beds a sleep number score of 90 - they are very hard. There is not a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector that we could find. The TV was extremely fuzzy and had about 10 channels to choose from. If you are just looking for a place to crash after a day of exploring, then it's probably fine. The pool area is beautiful and clean. And the location is great - easy access to Quepos and surrounding activities.

Nice oasis of quiet
Lovely home. Nice pool. We cooked most of our own meals, and the home was fully stocked with pots & pans. The BBQ grill was a nice bonus for our fresh tuna filets. We felt very safe here, never a concern at all.

Clean, beautiful garden around very nice pool and quiet
Close to town but very quiet. The pool is large and clean. The condo is very nice, clean and had what we needed for our stay. The only reason not to give 5 stars are the beds. Very hard and past their prime. Replace the beds and it would 5 star plus!

2/10 Terrible

Stéphane N., San Jose, Costa Rica

Bad management - Dirty...on the unhealthy side creating stuffy noses thanks the omni present dust.
An extremely terrible start: we arrived at 6 pm at night. The guard asked if I had a reservation and I said yes. Strange he said as I have not been advised. I parked and he led me to my rental. With the use of his phone light I opened the lock box, only to find there was no key! I went back to my car and informed my family there was a problem. I went to the office with the guard but it was closed. I went back to the car, thinking I had to leave for a hotel albeit I paid the rental and deposit... I went again to the Villa and saw a white garment on a sofa (visible through the crack of the drapes). Instinct I guess, I checked the sliding door and it opened. It was eery and a tad strange. I flicked the light and saw a plastic jar with food inside, a phone being recharged, an opened purse... I said "Hello" anybody here? - no answer. I felt alert, walking on egg shells but continued to advance in the kitchen. I saw a bra on the counter next to the fridge. I opened the fridge and saw a jar of Nutella. What is this sordid set-up or am I being set-up? Again, I said Hello, a bit louder this time, determined to see what may be upstairs At this point, I thought the whole thing being suspicious. As I went at the bottom of the stairs, I saw some covers on the ramp. Hmm, a done party; perhaps someone is still sleeping? I advanced upward and stated my name. No lights, just the one from downstairs. I stopped at the first room only to see a mattress, bare, and two pillows. Second bdr same. At this point I thought the house had been abandoned by the last guest for whatever reason, in a hurry it seemed. I proceeded to go downstairs and as I walked down, I heard someone. My heart was racing. It was a lady. I asked her if she lived here and she said no. She was the cleaning lady ! She said she was not expecting me. I told her I was with my family and went to get them and luggage after 3 hours drive. Needless to say: the bubble was broken and so was our dream. The lady said she would clean within an hour! An hour? No take five hours if you need this place had to be clean! I asked for the owner's phone and it did not work. I saw on her WhatsApp that the owner contacted her the day before. She lied and contradicted herself. My wife was so mad she would not say a word. My two young boys were too young to realize We started to cook. Later we saw all the Spider webs everywhere, dust, dirty pans ! We believe we deserve a huge refund. So sad, felt unwelcome, no trust!

Perfect condo for our week long vacation
My wife and I really enjoyed staying at Villa Bella with our young daughter. The villa had a big TV and hammock near the pool, so after a day of going on tours it was really good relaxing at the condo. My daughter played in the pool, which was clean and warm. The kitchen had all the essentials for us to eat at home, although we did eat out some of the time. The beds were comfortable and the AC helped cool the night for a good sleep. We had a car so getting around was easy, and the free parking was great. I highly recommend this place for anyone who looking for a great place that's comfortable and clean, without spending the high prices a lot of the others charge.
