As advertised…. Beautiful and access to everything
This was our 16th year staying at Lake Missaukee a week in the summer, but our first time at this location. Our kids are bigger and need more space, and I loved that even with the 3 bedrooms there were at least 3 couches that anyone could crash out on if they didn’t want to share. This house was beautiful, very clean, everything worked as expected and we were so comfortable. Also a perk that we didn’t have to bring our own bath towels and could do laundry! Very happy guests!

Great week!
Our family has been staying in Lake city for over 10 years at different rental properties. The Rupert‘s property was a treasure. The cottage had everything we needed and/or wanted. The house is clean and roomy. The gardens are beautiful. And you can enjoy a sunset every night from the dock, beach, or yard. The boatlift was an absolute bonus. We didn’t have to worry about our boat banging into the dock during the storm we experienced mid week. Thank you Rupert Family!

Wonderful cottage!
We had a wonderful time at this gorgeous cottage on Lake Missaukee. The cottage had all of the amenities we needed and extras. The boat lift was so nice to have. Beautiful sunsets, gorgeous gardens throughout the property. We fished every day and caught lots of keepers. When we had some minor concerns, the property manager and owner tended to them right away.

Feels Just Like Home
This property immediately felt comfortable and like home to our family. Amazing sunsets, beach and water were perfect and those breezes at night for sleeping-Ahhh-mazing! We love to cook and didn’t need any kitchen supplies because it was so well stocked with pans, knives, utensils, etc. We loved everything about this vacation home and Lake City and the owners were simply a pleasure to work with. Looking forward to more time spent here!

This is the second time we have done a family vacation here. Just like behavior we had the best time. The beach and water are so beautiful. The house is perfect for larger families with giving everyone a little space but still feels cozy! We LOVE it! Not to mention you get the best sunsets. The property is very well taken care. The owners are wonderful and really want to make sure you enjoy your time and attentive to any needs that come up. They have an awesome property manager as well who is accessible for any concerns! We have made some many great memories there!

Great Getaway
We had a wonderful week enjoying all the cottage had to offer! The kitchen was well stocked and all of the details were thought of to make your stay a great experience. There was plenty of seating, the beds were comfortable, and the lake views were incredible! We loved the outside patio set and the chairs on the dock to take in the beautiful sunsets. The owners and property manager were great communicators and made sure you had everything you needed. Can’t say enough good things and hope to stay again!

Ideal Multigenerational Beach Cottage
Perfect-and as described. The kitchen had everything imaginable for a full week of Pandemic home cooking.. The great room looks out over the lake and even those who had to work found it relaxing. The WiFi is reliable. Most of all, the soft sandy beach with vintage construction toys was a hit with our 5year old grandson. The dock was wonderful, especially for star gazing. The owners are hospitable and responsive. We’d hope to return.

Lake Life
Nice, roomy lake house. Three bedrooms and to baths were well appointed and functional. Kitchen was great and large living / den were excellent for the kids to get away from the adults on a rainy day. Patio, courtyard, grill area and beach were all very nice and as private as lake houses can be. Owner did a nice job with the little things. Hammock, lawn chairs, hot dog sticks, extra firewood and kitchen needs. Overall nice place and the lake quality, dock and boat lift were an added bonus. Highly recommend.

July Summer Vacation 2020
Wife experience: Accommodations were great. Lake was excellent. Swimming was good. Would have really enjoyed fishing if we had been able to rent a pontoon. Dan’s experience: Owners were very easy to communicate with. The cottage fit all our needs for the eight of us. ( 4 adults, 2 nine-year-olds, and 2 four year-olds). Plenty of space. Everyone enjoyed the sandy bottom lake way past the 110 ft dock. We were not able to rent a pontoon which we do every year in our annual family vacation. Mainly because marinas didn’t want to deliver to Lake Missaukee and partially because of not knowing what Restrictions MI Governor had put in place because of the pandemic this year. Overall I highly recommend the cottage but it would have been so much better with a boat for fishing and cruising on the lake.

We had a great time at Lake Missaukee! The lake is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for families with kids with it's sandy beaches and shallow water. We enjoyed the sandbar a few days as well and campfires by the water. The house was a good size for our two families and was very clean and nice!

Loved the Beach!
Pros: Beautiful, clean, sandy beach! Kayaks, row boat, beach toys all provided! Gorgeous sunsets every night. Very convenient to have your own private beach area a few steps from the house. You're able to walk along the shore and even into town. Good restaurants - Tasty Treat Ice cream gives HUGE portions so order wisely! We loved Herraduras Mexican Grill in Cadillac. Lake City Tap House in Lake City had good food, karaoke one night and a DJ another night. Clam Lake Beer Co in Cadillac had amazing quesadillas! It was very easy to contact Georgia and Patti if we had any questions. They always responded quickly. The neighbors were all very friendly. Middle Ground: Shallow beach which was great for our 2 yr old to play but it made fishing and swimming for adults more difficult. We really appreciated all of the toys provided at the house but there was not a lot of extra room to put our clothes because the dresser was full of toys. It would have been nice to be able to unpack the suitcases for our week long stay. Cons: DVD player was not set up (we brought cords for a portable DVD player that we were able to use in order to make it work) but it would have been nice to have it already set up and ready for use. We had a few very windy and cold days for the beach! (middle of July we were not expecting 75 degree weather) but that's obviously out of everyone's control. Georgia said that is irregular for weather for July. Just be prepared to check the weather and bring appropriate clothes. Overall we LOVED our stay here and all felt that Lake Missaukee is a hidden gem. We definitely plan to come back again!

Nice home but you will be watched!
The house is spacious, clean, well maintained with gorgeous views of the lake! Lake Missaukee is a spectacular shallow, clear, sandy bottom lake that is wonderful for small children. While the house and lake exceeded our expectations, the overall feeling of our trip was unfortunately dampened by a call from the owner's wife on our 3rd day. She stated that there was a complaint that we were up the previous evening playing a board-game inside the house and listening to music at 2AM. She also went on to reprimand me about the bonfire we had on the beach on Saturday and she continued by making accusations about the number of people we had staying there and sternly reminded me that this is a family atmosphere. This is our one family vacation we get every year. It's a tradition we've held for the past 12+ years that we vacation with my brother and his family. We all have young children that are making memories together as cousins. We have stayed many places & have never received complaints. It's true that the adults were still up at 2AM playing a board-game with moderate music playing utilizing a portable 6 inch speaker. We were enjoying ourselves & laughing, but our children were all asleep directly through the hallway bedroom with the door wide open & not one of them ever woke up. I'm not sure if I was more disturbed by the scolding tone of her call (I am 50 years old) or the fact that neighbors were obviously watching us to know these details. We constantly felt like we were being watched & reported on and it set a very melancholy tone for the remainder of the stay. We felt compelled to draw the shades and remind our young children to be quiet. Not really our idea of a vacation. The bonfire issue was a miscommunication as we diligently tried to follow the rules stating the fire must be on the beach. We used the fire ring but failed to realize the grill was also required as it was in a separate area & not mentioned. Once explained, I apologized and we corrected our mistake. Again, how did they know these details? Feeling watched & like our every move was being scrutinized. We did not have more people than our contract stated - I'm not sure why she kept asking me that in a very accusatory tone. I hope the owners remember that the people paying to stay here are on vacation and may not go to bed with the sun. A little kindness goes a long way & your approach & demeanor can change outcomes and experiences. I hope this outlines areas for improvement.

We had the most amazing week! From the time of booking to departure everything went smoothe. The owners are fantastic and were responsive and available at all times. The cottage was cozy, clean and had the most gorgeous view of the lake. All amenities needed were included. We made so many memories and look forward to booking again next year. Highly recommend!

Neat, clean, cottage on a beautiful sandy beach!
Best vacation every! Neat, clean, beautiful cottage with spacious room to gather around the table for family meals. Sitting in the living room, looking out at the beautiful sandy beach, with the sound of waves rolling in. Beautiful sunsets, and beautiful landscaping all around the cottage. Once you park your car and start your vacation journey, its like walking into a beautiful fairy tale story book. It is diffidently a home away from home. We rented a pontoon which was perfect for our kids and grand kids. Made sandwiches, took drinks, and drove to the sandbar every day for a couple hours. Perfect for our 2 year old grandson to play in 1 to 2 foot water. On our way back to the cottage we would stop in the middle of the lake so our 5 year old and adults could to cannon ball, dive, and play around. Beautiful patio for supper/dinner, or just enjoy being outside. Everything was absolutely perfect! Thank you for sharing your cottage/home with us! Did I mention, it was BEAUTIFUL?
