Tranquillity in Stylish Victorian Walled Garden Barn Conversion

The Old Boiler House in the Victorian Walled Garden at Penty Parc, in deep rural Pembrokeshire, has been lovingly converted to a charming retreat for couples who love getting back to nature, peace, solitude, star gazing and friendly dogs!

The barn is built around the remains of an old boiler house within a 3 acre walled garden, with glorious uninterrupted views over open countryside to the Preseli Hills. One whole quadrant of the 3 Acres is for guests' private use, including a fire pit, a decked area, ample parking and access to walks from the door.

The internal fittings are stylish and comfortable with an emphasis on sustainability. Modern insulation techniques and ceiling fans ensure a cool feel during hot days and a log burner provides the opportunity for cosy nights in.

The loft bedroom has a double bed with a pocket sprung mattress and there is also an extra single day bed in the 'Cwtch' with a Tempur mattress, all ensuring a comfortable nights sleep in the silence of the countryside.

The sofa has pull out footrests for lounging to watch TV or listen to music. The kitchen area and bathroom are equipped for your comfort and ease. There are facilities to eat inside or out and lounger chairs and seating for the patio and garden.

The deck and slate patio (just through the gate to the field) give sheltered all day and evening sunshine in the company of birdsong and the rustling of leaves from the row of ancient Hornbeams which mark the boundary.

Also included in the property’s garden is a restored fire pit: perfect for outside dining, sunbathing or star gazing at the spiral arm of the galaxy. With no light pollution and way below the reach of any wind it's a must for any night sky enthusiast as well a very special place to enjoy peace and quiet around a fire. Snuggle up with one of the throws provided, listen to music and gaze at the stars on clear nights.

The decking is the ideal spot for breakfast on sunny mornings where you will almost certainly enjoy a feast of bird song and enjoy watching the resident honey bees foraging in the bee friendly borders.

The owners have three friendly dogs and welcome sociable dogs to stay and roam freely in the garden. There is also a 10 acre enclosed field directly behind the Garden which leads to a further 3.5 acres of wild woodland with a stream: a short walk back up a bridle path gives a super circular walk from your very door. Within a couple of miles are two enormous, dog friendly Country Parks at Scolton Manor and Llys y Fran dam.

Access is via a lane which runs along the intriguingly restored walls of the garden and leads to ample parking at The Old Boiler House built into the North East corners of the 2 feet thick Wall itself.

The Garden is still a working garden providing produce for a long standing, award winning local restaurant owned and run by the owner who lives on site.

A few complementary essentials (depending on the season) are provided to ease your arrival and by prior arrangement we can arrange for 'Dine at Home' meals from the restaurant to be set up in your fridge.

The property is centrally located with easy access to local beaches, the coastal path, Preseli hill walking, a riding stables and two country parks. A little further afield are the beaches, hills, villages and countryside of North & South Pembrokeshire with many coastal, sporting and rural attractions on offer. A visit to Pembroke Castle, birthplace of the Tudors, and The National Botanical Garden of Wales are all within reach.

This property offers the opportunity to escape to peaceful solitude or is a base for exploring this diverse and beautiful county. Whether you select adventurous activities or simply want to get away from it all, the property affords you plenty of choice!

Lovely rural gem
The place is a lovey cosy spot that’s great for a retreat- especially with dogs. Theres plenty of space for them to run around even though it’s a 2 person property as well as lots of local walks. Leslie was a great host - and provided lots of local recommendations for eating and walking.

A perfect place and a great host
A brilliant six day stay. Great place for us and our dog to relax and unwind. Perfect and secure grounds for our dog to play. Clean premises at a great location. Our host, Lesley, was more than helpful in every aspect including going out of her way to tell us the best places to visit. Could not be happier. Oh, and the fire pit was amazing and one of the highlights of a brilliant visit.

Fantastic little haven with wonderful grounds
My partner and I stayed for a week at Lesley's property and we had such a lovely time. The conversion is beautiful and the grounds are enormous. There are horses in the field next door and so much nature all around. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed his garden for the week! The log fire makes the place so cosy at night, we were very warm! Lesley was very attentive and sorted us out with pre prepared meals from her restaurant which were delicious! Her dogs are very friendly and would come to visit us daily to say hello. Lesley knows all the good walking routes and sites to see and made us feel really looked after. All in all this was five star place to stay with good access to beaches and walks in north and south Pembs within a 30 minute drive. Fab!

We had the most wonderful stay at Lesley’s property, we had a lovely warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble for our host! The property was spacious but also felt cosy at the same time with stunning sunset views to the back. Our dog had a great time exploring the grounds with the other dogs too! The barn was well equipped and spotlessly clean when we arrived! The fire pit was great for al fresco dining too! Thank you for a lovely stay Lesley!

A fantastic stay at this beautiful, quirky property. Utter peace and tranquility and perfect for the dog who made friends very quickly. Idyllic setting and property spotless and very well equipped. Lesley the perfect host with lots of tips and help, nothing too much trouble. Excellent meal at The Georges and fabulous trips to St Davids, Saundersfoot, and Tenby. Beautiful place, lovely time
This is my second stay at this stunning location. The old boiler house is well appointed with many features and very comfortable furniture and bed. I was very fortunate with the weather and enjoyed the tranquil outside space, lots of room to wander in the large walled garden. I went to The Georges in Haverfordwest for dinner on Saturday night, it was excellent. There was a music festival in St Davids at the weekends which I throughly enjoyable. Took a few recommend walks locally, it's very pretty around here. I will be back again.

Perfect little getaway
This is the perfect place to stay whilst you explore Wales. Lesley and the dogs were so friendly and welcoming. Lesley was at hand should we need anything at all and gave us fantastic reccomendations about where we could go during our trip. The lodge was clean and had everything you could need from fresh towels to tea and coffee. I would highly reccomend this place.

Lesley was a superb host and this property is a lovely little hideaway in the middle of Pembrokeshire - very well situated in the middle of all the county has to offer. And there’s a beautiful view of the sunset just through the wall, couldn’t ask for more!

A blissful escape
We have just had four fabulous nights in The Old Boiler House at the beautifully tranquil, Victorian Walled Garden and wish we could have stayed longer. Lesley is the perfect host; warm, welcoming, helpful, on hand if needed yet not intrusive. The holiday home is really clean and cosy (the beds are super comfy) and has exactly what's needed for a relaxed and comfortable stay with an amazing view from the sitting room window. Relaxing in the beautiful gardens and hearing nothing but bees, birds and the occasional cow was such a contrast to our everyday life, it was totally therapeutic. The central location makes it really easy to explore both the coast and countryside of Pembrokeshire. The Walled Garden really is a special place, we feel privileged to have stayed there and look forward to making a return visit.

A rare and perfect find
This special little haven really is the most peaceful, calm and welcoming retreat. We felt like we’d stumbled upon the secret garden! Lesley is the perfect host, so very generous with her time and local knowledge, sharing favourite recommendations with us and always respectful of our privacy. We stayed with our 2 dogs who loved the extensive gardens. Lesley’s own 3 dogs were very welcome visitors and great company for our dogs. Lesley was very happy for our cheeky Labrador to pop over to her cottage! The gardens are beautiful, huge lawns, colourful plants and plenty of shade. We visited in a heatwave but always found a shady tree to keep us cool. The cottage is homely and Lesley has put a huge amount of love and thought into making it welcoming and comfortable. stunning place and location
my wife and i and our puppy lulu absolutely loved this place, we live in the city of cardiff so staying here was bliss, the setting in huge walled gardens surrounded by country fields and glorious weather was paradise to us, the birds tweeting , absolute freedom. Lesley and the dogs couldnt be more welcoming and friendly. perfect setting for dog owners as they can run freely without any worry, Lulus perfect first birthday present. Thank you Lesley. Amazing location. Perfect host. Cabin was a delight to stay in amongst beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Very central location only a 20 to 30 min drive to various coastal walking paths. Lesley was very friendly and helpful and even offered a further nights stay so we wouldn't get caught in traffic due to petrol price protests on the Severn bridge.

Perfect for our peaceful New Year break. A Clean and Warm building despite the winter weather outside, we only used the log burner once. Very comfortable place to relax and a good location to explore the Pembrokeshire coast, half hour drive North,South or West to stunning beaches, little harbours or scenery. Highly recommend it. Returning to my home county of Pembrokeshire in 1989 I purchased & restored the former HQ of a local brewery chain and opened what has evolved into The George's, a restaurant and café bar specialising in local food and natural products.
The Penty Parc Walled Garden was purchased in a totally derelict state 2007 and was home only to crumbling ivy clad walls, ruined buildings hinting as to it's former glory and 3 acres of impassable brambles. Now ten years on it is once again a productive garden with buildings restored, an orchard reinstated and many, many beautiful features.

Why they chose this property

The whole Penty Parc Country estate had been broken up and sold off for private development and the purchase of the Walled Garden was the perfect choice to fulfil my desire to grow organic produce for use in the Restaurant as well as set up an Apiary. The surrounding area is ideal for bees with no commercial crops, just wildflower & grazing.

A holiday in The Walled Garden with its many features is a truly unique opportunity to escape from today's busy world and take a trip back in time to a different world without compromising your comfort! A world where once the sounding of the Penty Parc bell each morning called the many workers to tend to their labours in the main house, dairy, laundry, stables, walled garden and in the 1000's of acres of pasture & surrounding woodland.
