About this property

Westhampton Guest House

Located in the trendy Libbie and Grove Avenue area, "The Avenues", this 2 story 900 sq ft guest house is within walking distance of many restaurants, bars ,shops, banks and a wonderful, neighborhood grocer with gourmet prepared foods. Downstairs there is a living area and dining area with floor to ceiling book shelves and windows and a small kitchen with stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. The flooring is old, reclaimed brick. Upstairs is a large bedroom with 2 full size beds, one built in with a new tempurpedic type foam mattress and the other with a pillow top medium firm. Both are new as of Fall 2015. Flooring is laminate. Bathroom has shower only. There is private porch upstairs, small deck downstairs with a 4-5 person Hot Tub. This is a city property surrounded by a tall privacy fence and a forest of bamboo so it is very private. For history buffs, we are only an hour away from Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown to the East. Head West to Charlottesville, home of University of Virginia, many wineries, and Monticello, the beautiful home of Thomas Jefferson. We are located in a great spot for Day Trips!

Highly Recommend for Quiet Stay
The home was clean, quiet, and host was super responsive to all questions before, during, and after my stay. A perfect place for a vacation feel and would definitely return again if available.

Richmond Getaway
We were in town for 4 nights and this was the perfect place to stay. Lovely, quiet neighborhood. Walkable and convenient shops, excellent response from the host. Cute guest house that was nicely appointed and comfortable beds. We had a great visit.

A wonderful vacation in the town where I live
This is a charming guest house in the best and most convenient neighborhood in Richmond. Carroll and Steve are wonderful hosts. I live in the best retirement facility in the same city but came to escape the restrictions due to Covid. It was a wonderful vacation 15 minutes from home. ...It was so good that I reserved the same property for 2

Really comfortable, cozy and private retreat.
We were staying in Richmond to visit family and stayed four nights. We found the Westhampton Guest House to be ideal for us. Very comfortable and well equipped. Everything we wanted. Added bonus: a quick walk to coffee, ice cream and good restaurants. All in all, really great.

Nice little guest house...good location
Everything about the advertisement is true. I will mention a couple of things just for your awareness....I am a somewhat large person and I found the stairs going to the bedroom and bathroom to be VERY narrow. Also the only bathroom is upstairs and it was also VERY tight for a larger person. We found the owner to be very nice and easy to work with. She was very thoughtful and had a bottle of wine, fresh muffins waiting for us, as well as juice and creamer in the fridge....and the list of little extras goes on and on. We had a great weekend in the Richmond area.

Peaceful privacy in the shade of the Bamboo Grove
The Westhampton Guest House is an ideal base for visiting Richmond. This was our second stay. You are within walking distance from some great restaurants, shops and a boutique grocery. You have easy access by car to downtown, Carytown and points West as well. The guest house is clean, comfortable and very private. The owners have it well kitted out and are very gracious hosts. I have recommended this guest house to others, and hope it is available for our next stay in Richmond.

Cozy Guest House
We stayed here for approximately one month, much longer than their usual guests. We were made to feel welcome as we met our hosts Carroll and Steve, the owners of this property. They did a walk thru with us on day 1 and pointed out certain features. After that, we could text them or call if we needed anything, and they were very responsive, but we had plenty of privacy from the street, and we only saw them a couple of times as we came and went thru our separate entrance. The unit is about 900 sqft on 2 floors with the bedroom up. Cozy and comfortable. Clean and neat. The only bathroom is upstairs and is very small (think cruise ship), but functional. Upon arrival, the guest house had fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, plus coffee and creamer and 2 muffins for the morning until we could get to the store. Nice touch. Enjoyed the hot tub, too. In addition, there was a long built in desk upstairs with cubbies above it - which was great for my sewing projects, and would be wonderful for anyone doing business while traveling. Easy walking distance to many convenient services including restaurants, bars, food market, Starbucks , churches, etc. We were very comfortable. Renters should be aware that there are two full beds upstairs and that the front of the carriage house is mainly glass with sheer curtains, thus reducing privacy from the main house somewhat at night time on the first floor. Nice place, otherwise private location, and we would likely rent again. Thanks to our hosts for a nice stay!
