About this property

Delightful bungalow in historic village of Abbey Cwmhir

Spacious 4 bedroomed bungalow in idyllic setting amidst Cambrian mountains in unspoilt countryside of mid Wales. Ideal for walkers/cyclists or base for exploring the stunning vicinity.

The bungalow has four bedrooms - two double and two twin. There are two bathrooms both with showers and one of which has a bath. The kitchen has an electric oven/hob, fridge/ freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher.

There is a large light and airy lounge with wood burning stove, 42" LCD TV and comfortable sofas.

Outside there is a large lawned area and patio with hot tub.

The property has super fast fibre wifi throughout.

There is a village pub two minutes walk away. The village also has a Victorian mansion which is open to the public.

The Local area is a perfect destination for anyone seeking all year round activities, whether its a gentle amble or energising mountain biking across the rugged hills, the spectacular countryside provides an inspiring backdrop for it all.

The Location
The bungalow is situated in Abbey Cwm Hir (Abbey in the long valley), a picturesque village tucked away in the Radnorshire hills with character and history, including the ruins of a Cistercian Abbey where it is believed the headless body of Prince Llewellyn (the last native Prince of Wales) is buried. The cistercian monks founded the Abbey in 1143 and always liked to build in secluded places thus the village sits hidden away from the "outside world" nestling amongst the tree covered hills. Glyndwrs Way National Trail and national cycle route 25 pass through the village making it a perfect base for walking/cycling and exploring mid wales and seeing nature at its best. The market town of Rhayader and the Elan Valley is 6.5 miles and the spa town of Llandrindod Wells is 9 miles. The coast is 40 miles.

The surrounding Area
The nearby 70 square mile estate of the flooded Elan Valley is spectacularly beautiful and is home to some of Britains most rare wildlife and plants along with magnificent engineering to create a fantastic experience whatever your choice of activity.
Ideal for walkers who appreciate the unspoilt beauty of the magnificent mountain scenery, natural history and calming peace of the countryside.
Hundreds of miles of bridleways and quiet lanes, makes this the ideal base for cyclists of all ages and abilities to explore the area. Cycle hire is available and allows you to explore the spectacular views including the 13km (8mile) Elan Trail which runs through scenic countryside around the Elan Valley reservoirs. It is a safe and dedicated trail for all visitors, from walkers, cyclists to wheelchair users and children.

The surrounding countryside is home to the famous Red Kite and daily feeding can be seen at the UKs leading Red Kite Centre, Gigrin Farm just six miles away. Over 150 kites gather for the daily afternoon feeding sessions at Gigrin Kite Centre, not to mention scores of buzzards and ravens.

Perfect
We had an incredible few days away in Meryl's property. The house itself was even better than we imagined it would be. My Mum had turned 60 and Meryl went out of her way to add a few extra nice touches. We relaxed in the hot tub and played board games as a family. Thanks again for being a wonderful host :)

Fabulous property
We have just returned from an amazing four nights in Abbey Cwmhir. The bungalow was beautifully clean and set in the most stunning location - and the owner, Meryl, was very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be booking again and would highly recommend this property.

Fab cottage in a beautiful location
Had a fab few days in this amazing cottage. Meryl is a great host, the cottage is super clean, beds are lovely and comfy, lots of space for 2 families. (The pics do not do it justice) We all had a lovely time relaxing in the huge garden and hot tub with the most spectacular views over the hills. Will definitely back for another visit. Wish we had booked for longer 😊

Biker Break
Meryl welcomed us on arrival and gave a short introduction to the bungalows heating etc. The accommodation was spacious and clean with a well appointed kitchen. Bedrooms are warm and comfortable, with three rooms having a view across the valley, while the lounge was the perfect place to rest after a days walking. The village is an ideal escape from the hustle of the real world, situated in a quiet valley meant you can sit outside with a drink and enjoy the view, watch a Buzzard fly by or chat with a local resident who's walking past - everything seems to move at a slower pace in Abbey Cwmhir. Altogether a throughly enjoyable ,relaxing break and one we'd all be pleased to repeat.

A few family nights away
Excellent, well equipped property in a quiet village with great views. Plenty of things to do and see close by and further afield. The host was very helpful and treated us to a welcome pack. Ideal spot to relax or use as a base for larger groups/families. Happily go back and highly recommend.

Great place to stay.
Spent 3 nights here during May bank holiday. The house and Meryll were fantastic. Meryll met us on arrival and showed us where everything was. Place was spotless and had everything you would need for an enjoyable stay. Pub in the village is really friendly. It opens at 8pm Monday - Saturday (no food and closed Sunday). We would definitely return again.

Always had a love for Wales
If your looking for a quiet break in stunning scenic Wales then this is the place for you, Set in stunning Abbeycwmhir Mid-Wales this bungalow is very clean spacious and easy to fall in love with, Although the weather was up and down the whole family had a great break and fro a good price too, Sky TV, Free Wifi a nice little welcome pack greeted us in the big kitchen, The lounge/diner was big and so comfortable as were the bedrooms, Two bathrooms one with shower and the other with shower over bath makes for excellent choices for the relaxing wind down, The owner greeted us with a friendly smile and had a helpful attitude explaining all the features of the bungalow and although she lives and runs the B&B next door left us to enjoy our break but told us if we needed her just pop over, Very Friendly and helpful. We had a week in August typical Welsh weather sun and rain but we enjoyed every minute and were sorry to have to leave. Just try it you will love it.
