About this property

Modern Farmhouse, pool, recreational barn on 168 acres near Blue Mtn

AREA:
Stone Croft Farm is a very private 168 acre country estate located at the top of the hill by Osler Bluff Ski Club and Blue Mountain in the heart of ski country. A true country property, but with the convenience of being 10 minutes from the historic main street of Collingwood and 15 minutes from charming Thornbury. With conveniences like golf, skiing, biking and mountain biking and spas minutes away, Stonecroft is perfect for those looking to enjoy private country life with all the experiences nearby.

Summer:
The farm has an extra large saltwater pool and is 15 minutes from the shale beaches along the Craigleith shoreline, and 25 minutes from the giant sand beaches at Wasaga. Road bikers love the climb up Grey Road 19 past the farm to access miles of great road biking at the top of the escarpment and across to the Beaver Valley. There is classic "technical" mountain biking at nearby 3 Stage, as well as hundreds of acres of mountain biking trails at nearby Kolapore Wilderness Reserve.

Fall:
Enjoy miles of hiking and fall colours on the nearby Bruce Trail on the Niagara Escarpment. Check out the local wineries and cideries. Then relax in front of a big fire in the wood burning fireplace, or flip on the gas fireplace in the second living room.

Winter:
Blue Mountain Village is nearby for skiing, boarding and cross country skiing, plus lots of restaurants for enjoying the apres ski. Scandinave spa is just 5 minutes away if you want to pamper yourself with hot baths, massages and other spa treatments. Also close to Osler Bluff Ski Club as well as Craigleith, Alpine, Toronto Ski Club and Georgian Peaks Ski Club. In winter Kolapore's trails convert from mountain biking to miles of cross country skiing. OFSC snowmobile trails nearby.

Spring:
Collingwood is a quaint Ontario town with a historic Main Street about ten minutes away and has the full range of services you would expect - Big name grocery stores, as well as several gourmet specialty shops like Dags and Willow, a liquor and beer store, Cineplex movie theatre, several good restaurants covering the range from great dining with live music (Huron Club) to new style Mexican (Bent Taco), asian fushion (Lowdown) and many more.

THE PROPERTY:
The farmhouse is a classic, white board and batten Ontario design, built in 1861 and completely restored, from the frame up, with a modern interior, and every modern convenience. Landscape design by Mark Hartley. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest, it’s set beautifully back from the road, so there’s lots of privacy.

The Pool:
From the large Great Room, enjoy the view across the deck to the large 51 foot long saltwater pool with granite decking and the fields and forest beyond. The property stretches more than a kilometre west into the sunset.

The Barn:
If it's raining, play some ping pong or shoot some baskets in the giant restored barn.

The farmhouse is on 168 acres of fields, pasture and hardwood forest. You can hike or cross country ski the trails across the property, or you can just relax on the deck by the pool and watch the clouds go by.

Absolutely stunning property
The house is beautiful- clearly very lovingly renovated. Lots of space for my group of friends and our 6 babies! We had a great week making big communal meals and playing in the snow. George was an excellent host- left us treats for our arrival and super responsive throughout the week. Well hopefully be back soon!

Absolutely incredible - pictures do not do it justice
I can not put into words how grateful we are to have been able to stay at this beautiful home with our wedding party. The space is warm, beautiful, no detail is overlooked. I have stayed in my fair share of vacation rentals in nearly every corner of the world, and this farm house just around the corner from our home was the most unique and special stay yet! It suited every need. From the quality of the towels, linens and beds to the state of the art kitchen, to the many warm spaces this is a spectacular place to stay. I hope we can make a family tradition out of it in the future. Thank you to the incredibly accommodating host! ❤️

Beautiful home!
Our extended family with four generations landed on this property for a long weekend. We were thrilled from the moment we walked in the door. The renovation of this farm house has been beautifully executed and functioned very well for all of our needs. Thank you, George, for the stellar service and the use of this amazing location. We look forward to returning.

Ken M.,

Awesome place!
My first thought when I entered this farm house was " Wow", this place is better live than when I looked at the photos and read the descriptions. Our family of 10 were there for Thanksgiving weekend and the house and property made it a very enjoyable experience. Our four grandkids had lots of fun running around outside, swimming and playing in the barn, they even put on a dance show for the adults. They were ready to go to bed in the evening with no complaining from any of them! The house is extremely well equipped with everything that you would need and the quality of everything is top notch. Our experience dealing with George was extremely positive. He is most accommodating in all respects and is very quick to respond to any questions we may have had. All in all it was an awesome weekend for our family and one that will be talked about for a long time.

Wow. What a fantastic spot! Our kids were blown away by how cool this place is!
I truly need to say thank you to George for sharing what is so clearly a family holiday home - we had three families at the Highland Farm, and from the moment everyone arrived (staggered arrivals) the messages were 'oh my god this place is perfect!'. This is a farmhouse in the best sense of the word - it immediately felt like a place where memories are made - comfy cozy living rooms, a kitchen that invites company and conversation over a glass of wine or three, a dining room big enough to fit the whole crew of 13 easily, and bedrooms with comfy beds a plenty! We even explored the vinyl collection in the basement rec room (George - that is a killer collection down there!) and just had the easiest time. It felt sort of like a friend had lent us their place for the weekend - a sense of comfort I have yet to feel on VRBO which really impacted our weekend in a lovely way. Now the barn: what can I tell you - ping ping, basketball, no neighbours to be bothered by excited kids on sugar ;), fairy lights to set the mood. We loved it!! The trails were well used by us as we had two dogs with us, and 7 kids...so ya, we got out and ran around - really lovely in the woods. The hot tub was a hit with the kids...was used as bribery when they got lazy...'go run around in the snow and then you can hop in the hot tub' ... mission successfully achieved! All in all just a gem of a spot. We are trying to come up with the perfect occasion to throw a big party at the Farm as all the kids now call it :) we truly can't wait to go back. Thanks again for sharing your space with our motley crew. (On a practical note - the kitchen is very well equipped - we didn't utter the words 'oh I wish they had ....' at any point when we were preparing meals - it's all there. We all had virtually zero signal on our phones...as a heads up...but we had declared it a wi-fi free weekend - so we made no effort to remedy that situation, but just thought it may be useful to know.)

Lazy late summer farm days at the pool with adventure nearby
(NB: for mutually beneficial reasons we stayed at George's other farm - vrbo:188908.) Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed a two week holiday at George's charming farm property. The property is classy, comfortable and private. We hosted many day and overnight guests in the countless bedrooms with quality linens. We balanced lazy days at the pool with a beach day at Wasaga; Blue Mountain Village for a gondola ride and ice cream; the Beaver River for a paddle (canoe rented from Free Spirit), and Kolapore for caving (splurged on a guide from Free Spirit). The neighbouring working farms and passing Mennonite horse-drawn carriages add to the authentic experience. The house has clearly been lovingly restored and thoughtfully maintained by involved owners who care and only the most delicate of guests would note the idiosyncracies of a Pre-Confederation (1861!) country home: be respectful of the plumbing; embrace the simple but well equipped country kitchen. George was attentive and responsive. And the recreational barn was a hit with both children and adults: We took our desert in the barn every night with all the doors open, the lights on, playing ping-pong (who knew?) and shooting hoops with eclectic tunes blaring. Purchased basic groceries in Dundalk and some great prepared meals and pies in Ravenna.

I grew up skiing in the area at Osler Bluff from age zero. We raised our children skiing at Osler and discovered we love the area in all four seasons. Winter is skiing, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Spring is hiking and biking. Summer adds the pool and nearby Craigleith shale beach, or Wasaga's sandy beach. Fall is hiking and biking and sweaters and fall colours.

We have two college aged children who also grew up enjoying all 4 seasons in the area and occasionally host our larger extended family for reunions, Christmas and special family events.
